Vestibular Schwannoma Microsurgery In The Era Of Multimodal Treatment: Advances In Technique And Patient Selection, Ibrahem Albalkhi, Basel Musmar, Nimer Adeeb, Hussam Abou-Al-Shaar, Jacques J Morcos

Faculty, Staff and Student Publications

Background: The management of vestibular schwannoma (VS) has traditionally prioritized gross total resection to achieve high tumor control, often at the cost of cranial nerve injuries and quality of life impairment. However, advances in surgical approaches and intraoperative technologies, coupled with active surveillance and/or adjuvant treatment, have shifted the management paradigm towards prioritizing patient-centered outcomes, which are as critical as oncological control.

Content: The authors reviewed the technical advances driving this paradigm shift, including endoscopic assistance in the different microsurgical approaches (retrosigmoid, translabyrinthine, and middle cranial fossa approaches) of VS resection and advanced neuromonitoring (facial nerve electromyography and cochlear/auditory evoked …

Clermont York 82nd St. Llc. V Zgodny Apr 2026

Clermont York 82nd St. Llc. V Zgodny

All Decisions

The Appellate Term affirmed the Civil Court's dismissal of a landlord's holdover petition. The landlord sought to evict the tenant for failing to sign rent-stabilized renewal lease offers after the apartment, previously improperly deregulated due to J-51 tax benefits, was re-registered. The court found that the renewal lease offers were improper because the landlord failed to provide an initial stabilized lease and the renewals lacked mandatory components, such as a stabilization rider and registration statement, thereby justifying the tenant's refusal to sign. The court also noted that the rent calculation should adhere to HSTPA amendments.

Lex & Third 116th St. Corp. V Vargas

All Decisions

An appellate court reversed a lower court's order denying the tenant's motion for discovery in a nonpayment proceeding. The tenant sought discovery to determine if the premises constituted a horizontal multiple dwelling, which would subject it to rent stabilization. The appellate court found the lower court improvidently exercised its discretion, holding that the tenant demonstrated "ample need" for disclosure as the landlord possessed particular knowledge of the properties' ownership, management, and operation, and the tenant showed indicia of commonality between the buildings. The matter was remanded to the Civil Court to limit the scope of the overbroad discovery demands.

Assessing Difficulty Of Link Prediction On Benchmarking Knowledge Graphs, Lydia Klecan Apr 2026

Assessing Difficulty Of Link Prediction On Benchmarking Knowledge Graphs, Lydia Klecan

Theses

Knowledge graphs represent real-world data in a directed graph format where two entities, connected by a predicate, represent one fact. Link prediction models predict new relationships using existing entities and predicates, and are trained using benchmarking knowledge graphs. Redundancies exist within benchmarking knowledge graphs that allegedly artificially improve the results of link prediction. It is assumed in the link prediction field that if a model scores well on a highly redundant benchmarking knowledge graph, it may not directly correlate to good performance on other more complex knowledge graphs. This research creates new analysis methods and evaluation metrics for measuring redundancies …

Ar Bubble Car: A Cross-Vehicle Visual Social System For Autonomous Mobility, Bingchang Zhang Apr 2026

Ar Bubble Car: A Cross-Vehicle Visual Social System For Autonomous Mobility, Bingchang Zhang

Theses

AR Bubble Car argues that in L4/L5 autonomous mobility, or high to fully automated driving, the car should be understood not only as a transportation device but also as a visible social interface in public space. As driving becomes less central, the role of the vehicle shifts from control and movement alone toward passenger experience, expression, and communication. In response, AR Bubble Car proposes a transparent visual bubble around compatible vehicles, allowing passengers to share lightweight content through window-based AR. Rather than treating the car as a private entertainment container, the system explores how vehicles might become moving social nodes …

Crave Nothing More Fervently, Jesse Gwilliam Apr 2026

Crave Nothing More Fervently, Jesse Gwilliam

Theses

Crave Nothing More Fervently is an expressionistic journey that struggles with my fear of time’s ceaseless advance towards death. Through the establishment of a personal visual style I call psychedelic perception, I look for a future that struggles against my personal fears of loss and death. This strategy aestheticizes the world as a strategy of pursuing a creative life that stands against fatality.  In Crave Nothing More Fervently my concept of psychedelic perception is a framework that extrapolates from the late cultural theorist Mark Fisher’s manuscript Acid Communism defined as a political ethic of adaptive creativity. Besides simply revealing the …

Expedited Internet Bypass Protocol (Eibp) For Inter-As Routing, Tejas Ramakant Mhadgut Apr 2026

Expedited Internet Bypass Protocol (Eibp) For Inter-As Routing, Tejas Ramakant Mhadgut

Theses

Inter-AS link failures in conventional routing architectures are recovered through a combination of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) hold-timer expiry, Link State Advertisement (LSA) flooding, and network-wide Forwarding Information Base (FIB) recomputation, a process that produces data plane outages measurable in seconds and affects every routing node in the involved Autonomous Systems (AS) regardless of topological relevance. This report presents the design, implementation, and evaluation of a failure recovery mechanism for Expedited Internet Bypass Protocol (EIBP), a label-based routing protocol in which forwarding decisions are derived from structured tier addresses rather than distributed routing tables. The implemented mechanism comprises three components: …

Guillemette, Fiona Veronique Apr 2026

Guillemette, Fiona Veronique

Theses

In my photography project, Guillemette, I entertain the idea of inheriting an ability for mediumship from my maternal family lineage. As an origin, I use the question of having (or not having) these powers to explore intertwined relationships between myself and my mother, mediumship and theater, belief and entertainment, and the spirit and earthly worlds. The setting of the series moves between France, where my maternal family is from, and Western New York, where I currently reside, and the birthplace of 19th-century Spiritualism, the belief that spirit mediums can communicate with the dead. Mediumship, a central pillar in the work, …

Training Turfgrass For Drought Resilience, Kelly Kopp, Jerry L. Goodspeed Apr 2026

Training Turfgrass For Drought Resilience, Kelly Kopp, Jerry L. Goodspeed

All Current Publications

Utah’s semi-arid climate always makes efficient irrigation essential, but never more so than during a drought. In many communities, outdoor landscape irrigation represents the largest share of residential water use during the summer months. At the same time, research and Utah State University (USU) Extension observations have consistently shown that lawns across the state are often overwatered, leading to shallow root systems and increased vulnerability to heat and drought stress. Adjusting irrigation practices during drought not only conserves water but also improves the long-term health and resilience of turfgrass systems.

Baghdad Science Journal

The objective of the current study was to evaluate the potential of luteolin to mitigate the neurotoxic effects of OXL. Oxidative injury, inflammation, and mitochondrial dysfunction are the cardinal factors in OXL-triggered neuropathy. LUT modulates sensory and motor behavioral changes induced by OXL. Notably, LUT treatment significantly (p≤ 0.05) increased antioxidant activity by increasing paraoxonase-1 (PON-1) and heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) levels, attenuating oxidative damage. Additionally, LUT inhibited neuroinflammation by repressing the levels of toll-like receptor-4 (TLR4) and intracellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), while significantly increasing brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and downregulating the relative gene expression level of mitogen-activated protein kinase 14 …
