The purpose of this paper is to study whether and how Walmart's philanthropic efforts have shifted amidst the recent turbulent political atmosphere in the United States, specifically. It concludes that the shift in political ideals during the relevant time period has an important impact on Walmart’s communication strategies and frequency. I evaluated Walmart’s philanthropic decisions through its press releases from 2022 to 2026, spanning the transition between the two most recent presidential administrations.

The purpose of this qualitative study was to examine the lived experiences of seven young Black males after their graduation from high school, focusing on how they recalled and interpreted their high school teachers’ expectations. Using semi-structured interviews with the Black males, aged 18–25, this study sought to understand how participants made meaning of these experiences and the lasting impact on their identity development. Grounded in Tichnor-Wagner’s culture of care theory, this study looked through the lens of culturally responsive, emotionally supportive, and equity-driven educational environments. Over the past several decades, cold- and cool-water fish populations across the Upper Midwest, including Minnesota and Wisconsin, have shown troubling signs of decline. Among the most affected is the walleye/Ogaa (Sander vitreus), a species deeply embedded in the ecological balance, cultural identity, and economic vitality of the region, and central to the lifeways, treaty-reserved rights, and resource stewardship of Tribal Nations, including Ojibwe communities across the Upper Midwest. This study examines whether biodiversity-related risks are priced in global equity markets and whether that pricing varies across regions, using a cross-sectional sample of more than 10,000 globally listed firms with biodiversity and financial data drawn from the fourth quarter of 2025. Consistent with a regional heterogeneity hypothesis, the results show that biodiversity risk is significantly negatively associated with firm valuation in developed markets such as the United States and OECD countries, while the relationship is weaker, insignificant, or even positive in certain emerging regions including Latin America and the Middle East and Africa. Increasing land costs and labor constraints continue to challenge beef producers. More intensive practices can increase harvest efficiency; however, many producers are deterred from implementing them due to increased labor and management considerations. Virtual fencing (VF) may provide a reduced labor alternative to traditional fencing for managing intensive grazing. This dissertation evaluated management strategies and VF technology to improve grazing efficiency of stocker cattle systems. In Experiment 1, VF was used to effectively manage groups of steers grazing in adjacent paddocks separated by only virtual boundaries. Heifers represent a large proportion of cattle placed in feedlots, making pregnancy management an important consideration for maintaining performance and carcass value. Melengestrol acetate (MGA) is commonly included in feedlot diets to suppress estrus and prevent pregnancy in intact heifers during the finishing period. Alternatively, spaying has historically been utilized as a management practice to allow heifers to graze alongside breeding cattle without the risk of pregnancy. At 16, I moved to Sewanee, a small college town in rural Appalachia with a population of only 3,000. This study explores the extraction and application of Pithecellobium dulce seed protein isolate (PSPI) in chocolate compound coating formulations. PSPI was extracted via ultrasonication-assisted isoelectric precipitation under optimized conditions (solute-to-solvent ratio 1:30, pH 12, 10 min), yielding 23.64% with 38.28% recovery. PSPI exhibited high protein content (75.3%), low water activity (0.22), near-neutral pH (6.94), and favorable techno-functional properties, including high water (3.27 g/g) and oil holding capacities (4.81 g/g), improved solubility (↑21.3%), and superior thermal stability compared to skim milk powder (SMP). While in vitro digestibility was slightly lower than SMP (88.52% vs. 92.42%), PSPI outperformed other reported plant protein …

As outdoor recreation participation has steadily increased nationwide over the past decade, reaching record levels in 2024 amid long‑term growth trends (OIA, 2025), the Continental Divide Trail (CDT) is drawing rising numbers of hikers traveling through Montana’s gateway communities. Yet little is known about who these hikers are or how their presence affects the towns that support them. This report examines CDT hikers and their relationships with Montana gateway communities from two complementary perspectives. The St. Lucie Estuary (SLE) on Florida’s east coast is vital for diverse aquatic life and provides essential services to local communities. However, the estuary’s health is threatened by water quality deterioration due to nutrient-driven phytoplankton blooms, particularly cyanobacteria, which have increased in frequency over recent decades. These blooms may worsen water quality by reducing dissolved oxygen, altering pH, and increasing turbidity. Moreover, some phytoplankton species, including Microcystis aeruginosa, a freshwater cyanobacteria species, produce harmful toxins, posing risks to both marine aquatic life and human health in this area. Angka kematian bayi (AKB), khususnya kematian neonatal, merupakan indikator fundamental dalam menilai kualitas pelayanan kesehatan dan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi AKB di 24 kabupaten/kota di Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan. Variabel independen yang dikaji mencakup dimensi layanan kesehatan, kondisi sosial ekonomi, pendidikan perempuan, sanitasi, air bersih, dan indikator demografis. Data dianalisis menggunakan metode Regresi Komponen Utama (Principal Component Regression/PCR) untuk menganalisis pengaruh variabel-variabel dengan mempertimbangkan adanya potensi korelasi antar variabel independen, sehingga dihasilkan model yang stabil. Background: Hospitalized antepartum patients are at increased risk for postpartum depression (PPD). Developing approaches to identify those at highest risk for PPD would enable timely and targeted intervention.

Objective: We aimed to identify factors associated with the development of PPD symptoms in hospitalized antepartum patients and to assess their predictive utility.

Study design: This retrospective cohort study included pregnant individuals hospitalized in a regional referral center due to medical or obstetric complications between 2012 and 2025. Objective: To improve patient-centered dermatology care by identifying how patients prefer to approach medical decision-making and structuring their visit, using a brief 4-question intake survey focused on cognitive style.

Methods: New patients at 2 dermatology clinics within the California Skin Institute completed a multiple-choice intake questionnaire before their first visit. The survey asked patients how many concerns they wanted to address, how much guidance they preferred in selecting treatment, whether they prioritized diagnosis or treatment during the visit, and their expected timeline for results. Associations between patient responses and demographics (sex, age, chief complaint) were analyzed using χ2 tests.

Literary engagement correlates to academic success, yet many schools across the nation struggle to engage their scholars meaningfully with traditionally taught canonical literature. The classrooms impacted most by this concern are secondary language arts classrooms. This disengagement can be attributed to a lack of student autonomy in selecting texts, low-interest topics, and an absence of relevance to student identity.
