Quaternary aeolian and fluvial deposits along the Arkansas and Cimarron Rivers in Osage and Pawnee counties of central Oklahoma, record Late Pleistocene and Holocene fluvial landscape history in the eastern Osage Plains. Sediment supply, climate variability, channel incision, and channel migration control this landscape evolution. Sediment supply of both streams is dominantly sand. Late Pleistocene and Holocene precipitation have varied with periods of drought alternating with increased precipitation and warming. The study area is near the eastern boundary of substantial aeolian activity with drought and aeolian reworking of fluvial sand more severe to the west. This study examines the sediment, …

Stuttering is commonly measured through its overt characteristics (blocks, prolongations, and repetitions). This equates to stuttering “severity,” or the frequency of these behaviors. This method, however, does not reflect the lived experience of adults who stutter. This “measurement problem” has been the subject of numerous studies. In this graduate thesis, the measurement problem is addressed by using qualitative data previously gathered by Malcolm (2024) from adults who stutter about the internal experience of stuttering to create survey. Background: Anxiety is common following a concussion, arising from both psychosocial and physiological changes, and can manifest in diverse ways. Despite its complexity and association with worse outcomes, post-concussion anxiety is often assessed as a single construct. Characterizing anxiety presentations following injury may improve the identification of clinically meaningful symptoms and help inform future targeted interventions that can improve concussion outcomes. This study explored the ideological becoming (Bakhtin, 1981) of elementary teacher candidates (TCs), specifically in relation to their beliefs about literacy, as they completed their literacy coursework and corresponding clinical experiences in their educator preparation program (EPP). Through a qualitative, multiple-case study design, I followed two groups of TCs through the last two years of their undergraduate degree. Each group of TCs completed a series of four literacy methods courses with associated clinical experiences, and one group also finished their student teaching internships. I came to graduate school under the impression that I would be working on my own. I believed the process of playwriting to be an individualistic pursuit, where my plays came from my mind and my mind alone. Instead, through the process of writing my thesis play, Wildflower Season, and its subsequent production as part of the ArkType New Play Festival, I discovered that writing a play was a collective endeavor, and that one of the great pleasures the theatre has to offer is creating it with a group of other people.

This paper will present results from the final survey of a multi-stage project examining factors that influence opinions about gene editing in agriculture and medicine. In this final survey, 3,200 U.S. respondents were recruited and randomized to view one of eight videos that communicated the safety of gene editing to determine which factors are most influential in changing opinions. The eight videos were designed based on data collected from focus groups and three previous surveys in this multi-stage project. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) proposed a front-of-package nutrition labeling (FOPL) rule in early 2025 to help consumers more quickly and easily compare the nutritional quality of packaged foods (U.S. Food and Drug Administration, 2025). This thesis examines, explores, and explains the costume design process for a contemporary production of The Trojan Women by Euripides performed at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. The production concentrates on the play’s violent upheaval and its relationship between historic, present, and future significance. The Trojan Women by Euripides is recognized as a leading anti-war tragedy inspired by the Melian Massacre, which occurred circa 415-416 BCE. The Melian Massacre was a war between Sparta and Athens that occurred on the eastern mainland of Greece. Abstract Concurrent college credit courses are growing at a rapid pace nationwide, with large numbers of high school students now earning college credit before the end of their twelfth-grade year. In Arkansas, this trend of increased concurrent college course enrollment is evident, with over 23,000 students enrolled in concurrent courses during the 2024 school year (Arkansas Division of Higher Education, 2024). DataPeer integrates a large language model (LLM) with a React frontend and FastAPI backend, allowing both qualitative and quantitative analysis of user-uploaded CSV datasets through a chat-based interface. Traditional masculine norms have long been recognized as influential factors in men’s psychological well-being. Within Latino cultures, the construct of machismo represents a culturally specific form of masculinity characterized by ideals of masculinity and characterized by ideals of strength, dominance, and emotional restraint. While these norms may promote resilience and family responsibilities, rigid adherence to traditional machismo has also been associated with emotional suppression, reduced help-seeking behaviors, and increased psychological distress. Social justice is widely recognized as a foundational value of the social work profession, yet research indicates inconsistencies in how social justice is defined, taught, and experienced within social work education. This study investigates the role of directional filtering in the analysis of spray behaviour using two full cone nozzles (65° and 75°) emitting aqueous sprays under atmospheric conditions. A hybrid computational–experimental framework was applied, using Large Eddy Simulation (LES) with Discrete Phase Model (DPM) and Rosin-Rammler distribution in ANSYS Fluent, validated against Shadowgraph and Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) measurements. The sensitivity of directional filtering to the effects of spray angle and flow rate (1.75 and 3.5 L/min), were also done. Seagrass meadows, though covering a small percentage of the ocean floor, play a critical role in marine carbon sequestration. However, the mechanisms behind this role remain uncertain due to challenges in mapping seagrass extent and flux, accounting for spatial variation in carbon storage, and incorporating site-specific histories. This study investigates the effects of short-term (≤10 years) seagrass loss on sediment carbon stocks within a large seagrass meadow in the Great Barrier Reef region. Despite the great potential of Gelatin Methacryloyl (GelMA) microneedles (MNs) for minimally invasive drug delivery and interstitial fluid extraction, their performance under realistic insertion conditions and across diverse geometrical and mechanical parameters has remained uncharacterized. In this study, dynamic and static finite-element analyses were conducted for the first time to compare three types of crosslinked GelMA MNs: conical, pyramidal, and tapered-conical with and without base support. Amyloidogenic proteins, such as amyloid-β (Aβ), self-assemble into cross-β fibrils whose accumulation is central to Alzheimer's disease (AD). Measuring Aβ aggregation and clearance in living cells remains challenging using current cell-based assays, which are often low-throughput or not suited for real-time monitoring. Skeletal muscle exhibits remarkable plasticity following injury, yet most research has focused on responses to a single bout of eccentric contractions. This review addresses adaptations to repeated eccentric contraction–induced injuries across physiological and pathological conditions, with emphasis on insights from preclinical rodent models. In healthy muscle, the repeated bout effect (RBE) reduces strength loss and accelerates recovery after subsequent bouts. However, these adaptations are highly condition dependent. Aging can attenuate the RBE, while dystrophic muscle remains vulnerable to repeated injury despite compensatory remodeling. Alterations in plasma sphingomyelin (SM) levels have been reported in Alzheimer's disease (AD), pointing to disturbances in lipid metabolism that may contribute to disease pathogenesis. Neuronal damage in early AD triggers tau release into central and peripheral systems. Despite influence from peripheral contributions, alterations in plasma total-tau (T-tau) remain valuable in indicating AD-related neurodegeneration. NRAS mutations occur in 10%–30% of cutaneous melanomas and are associated with high tumor mutational burden. Mutant NRAS signaling drives aberrant cell growth and proliferation, in part, through activation of the RAF–MEK-ERK1/2 kinase pathway; however, targeted therapies to this pathway have limited effectiveness in patients with NRAS mutant melanoma. The role of other targetable signaling pathways in NRAS mutant melanoma is poorly characterized. The growing presence of microplastics (MPs) in water and their impact on ultrafiltration (UF) membranes during the early stages of wastewater treatment highlight the need for effective mitigation strategies. This study explores the innovative modification of UF membranes by incorporating various hybrid metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) nanoparticles, including UiO-66-NH2 hybrids with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) (UiOM), chitosan (UiOC), and sulfobetaine zwitterions (UiOZ). Much has been written about the important role of social support networks (SSNs) for the well-being of older adults, encompassing their social, emotional and practical needs. Less is known about what happens to the SSNs of older people when they migrate, and even fewer studies have examined the impact of different forms of capital on these networks. Introduction: Strenuous military activities, such as Special Forces (SF) selection courses, are known to involve high physical loads in the presence of food and sleep deprivation, which can have detrimental impacts on physical performance. Understanding the magnitude of performance deficit and the time required for recovery associated with these events, is important for injury prevention and maintaining operational readiness. Background and Aims: This study examined the association between parenthood status and psychological well-being among university staff and students in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Methods: A cross-sectional, web-based survey was conducted across 22 universities in four SSA countries using convenience sampling. A total of 1189 university staff and students, including parents and non-parents, participated. Mental health outcomes were assessed using the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scales (DASS-21). Multinomial logistic regression models were used to examine associations between parenthood status and mental health outcomes after adjusting for sociodemographic and contextual factors. Objective: Falls among community-dwelling older adults are prevalent and have serious individual, societal and economic consequences. Allied health professionals provide key falls prevention interventions yet their representation in current clinical practice guidelines is inconsistent. Increased recognition of allied health roles and delivering context-specific guidelines for falls care could help to address workforce gaps and optimise care approaches. We report on the 2025 International ICU Diary Conference that provided a comprehensive update on current knowledge, innovations and global practices related to ICU diaries. Held in a 6-week online format, the event featured 23 speakers and was attended by mean 69.7 (SD 20.5) participants per session. Topics included development of ICU diaries, use in special settings, digital diaries, survivors' and families' experiences, Post-Intensive-Care Syndrome and follow-up and implementation projects. Highlights were innovative solutions for digital diaries and the report of persons with lived and living experiences with diaries, changing the focus on humanising critical care. Objective: To estimate the levels of supportive care needs among adults with cancer using the Supportive Care Needs Survey–Short Form 34 (SCNS-SF34) and to examine demographic, clinical, and treatment-related determinants. Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted (CRD42024604977). Studies reporting SCNS-SF34 scores in adults with cancer were included. Searches were performed across six different databases (November 2024; updated August 2025). Random-effects meta-analyses were undertaken to estimate the pooled mean scores across the five SCNS-SF34 domains and total score.
