Ensuring Equitable Application Of Interventions To Vulnerable Subpopulations In The Kentucky Consortium For Accountable Health Communities (Kc-Ahc), Jing Li, Jessica M. Clouser, Akosua Adu, Aiko Weverka, Nikita Vundi, Terry D. Stratton, Mark V. Williams

Journal of Appalachian Health

Introduction: The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has funded the Accountable Health Communities (AHC) model to test whether systematically identifying and addressing the health-related social needs (HRSNs) of individuals would impact healthcare utilization and total cost of care for Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries. Toward this effort, AHCs implement screening, referral, and community navigation services in their local areas. There are 28 CMS-funded AHCs nationwide, including the Kentucky Consortium for Accountable Health Communities (KC-AHC).

Purpsoe: This study aims to assess the equity of KC-AHC model activities in three vulnerable sub-populations: dual enrollees, disabled individuals, and women.

Methods: Twenty-eight primary …

Ultra-Sensitive Visible-Ir Range Fiber Based Plasmonic Sensor: A Finite-Element Analysis And Deep Learning Approach For Ri Prediction, Mohammad Al Mahfuz, Sumaiya Afroj, Afiquer Rahman, Md. Azad Hossain, Md. Anwar Hossain, Md Selim Habib

Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Faculty Publications

In this paper, a relatively simple and ultra-sensitive Photonic crystal fiber (PCF) based surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensor is proposed for detecting different analyte refractive indices (RIs) ranging from 1.33 to 1.43 over a wide range of wavelength spectrum spanning 0.55 μm to 3.50 μm. The comprehensive finite-element simulations indicate that it is possible to achieve remarkable sensing performances such as wavelength sensitivity (WS) and figure of merit (FOM) as high as 123,000 nm/RIU and 683 RIU-1, respectively, and extremely low value of wavelength resolution (WR) about 8.13×10−7 RIU. A novel artificial neural network (ANN) model is …

Multifidelity Comparison Of Supersonic Wave Drag Prediction Methods Using Axisymmetric Bodies †, Troy Abraham, David Lazzara, Douglas Hunsaker Apr 2024

Multifidelity Comparison Of Supersonic Wave Drag Prediction Methods Using Axisymmetric Bodies †, Troy Abraham, David Lazzara, Douglas Hunsaker

Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Student Publications and Presentations

Low-fidelity analytic and computational wave drag prediction methods assume linear aerodynamics and small perturbations to the flow. Hence, these methods are typically accurate for only very slender geometries. The present work assesses the accuracy of these methods relative to high-fidelity Euler, compressible computational-fluid-dynamics solutions for a set of axisymmetric geometries with varying radius-to-length ratios (R/L). Grid-resolution studies are included for all computational results to ensure grid-resolved results. Results show that the low-fidelity analytic and computational methods match the Euler CFD predictions to around a single drag count (~1.0 × 10–4) for geometries with R/L ≤ 0.05 …

Peek Acuity Sebagai Alat Model Sederhana Untuk Skrining Gangguan Penglihatan Pada Komunitas Penderita Kusta, Yunia Irawati

Bhakti: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat

Water Equity And Planning: Acid Mine Drainage In Deckers Creek Watershed, Brooke O. Waters, Lennon Jewell Auvil, Grace Dever

Undergraduate Scholarship

When mines close, they simply do not disappear. They cannot be buried or forgotten about. The implications of mining leave a lasting history and impact not only on our lands but on the people as well. Abandoned mine lands are areas of our community and environment that have been destroyed due to the extraction of coal and other minerals. Mining results in the destruction of landscapes, contamination of waterways, and the emission of harmful chemicals to our communities.
Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) is a resultant water pollutant that is derived from mining practices, active or abandoned. This pollutant forms from …

Genistein Adsorption Performance And Mechanism By Metal-Organic Frameworks Based On Triangular Aromatic Ligands, Yang Xiangyi, Cheng Yunhui, Yao Li, Xu Zhou, Xing Keyu

Food and Machinery

Objective: To improve the adsorption of genistein by zirconium-based metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with triangle aromatic ligands. Methods: Two MOFs (MOF-808 and PCN-777) containing different sizes of triangle aromatic ligands were synthesized by hydrothermal method for adsorption of genistein. The synthesis of MOFs was determined by a series of characterization methods, and the adsorption performance was compared with that of a linear binary carboxylic acid ligand-constructed MOF (UiO-66), to evaluate the effects of pore characteristics, hydrophobicity changes, and other factors on the adsorption performance, and to explore the adsorption mechanism by XPS analysis. Results: Compared with linear ligand-constructed UiO-66, the pore …

Connecting To Self And Others Through Authentic Movement And Music: A Community Engagement Project, Caitlin Evans

Expressive Therapies Capstone Theses

Authentic Movement is a therapeutic practice often utilized in the field of dance/movement therapy. Inspired by Carl Jung’s Active Imagination, Authentic Movement consists of a person dancing, the “mover,” and a person watching the dancer, the “witness.” Research has shown that practicing Authentic Movement is beneficial for individuals as it helps with emotional regulation and a sense of well-being, among other things. This thesis explores the effects of Authentic Movement in a community workshop with the incorporation of a device, called PlantWave, that translates body biorhythms into music. Traditionally, Authentic Movement is practiced in complete silence aside from sounds that …
