Healthcare Key Performance Indicators; A Dha Study In Perception And Importance By Clinical And Non-Clinical Healthcare Professionals At A Large Healthcare System, Jennifer Burchill
MUSC Theses and Dissertations
Healthcare systems in the United States are unique structures where compassion for the care of others meets the science of medicine. It is a business, but it is a business with passionate professionals who care about the health of its customers, or patients. While most businesses have one structured financial system, health care contains finance for both the business and the patient.
KPIs or Key Performance Indicators, reported by finance are usually created for revenue driven initiatives with little contact and communication with the clinical teams. KPIs are a prominent driver utilized by health systems and reimbursement agencies to measure …

Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
Purpose/Background
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a common, chronic disease that increases the risk of coronary artery disease and stroke fourfold, which makes protecting cardiac function a priority. The American Diabetes Association (ADA) and American Heart Association (AHA) recommend the prescription of statins to reduce cardiovascular complications. Unfortunately, provider and patient adherence to this recommendation is poor. This study aimed to determine if shared-decision making and patient follow-up within a 6 month period of being newly diagnosed with T2D has an effect on the initiation rate of statin therapy.
Methods
In this retrospective study we requested data from the University …

Research Reports
The research initiative focuses on exploring the feasibility of using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for incident detection in high-speed multi-lane and freeway corridors. Previous phases of this research have laid the groundwork for developing and validating UAV-based incident detection methodologies. The research methodology involved developing an incident detection methodology using real-time video data from single and multiple flying UAVs, UAV path planning for corridor incident detection, and designing experiments to establish protocols, standards, and guidance for using UAVs in accordance with FAA regulations. The study's conclusions highlights key insights into the performance of the YOLO7 algorithm, emphasizing the impact of …
W/V-Band Propagation Modeling, Nolan Rebernick
W/V-Band Propagation Modeling, Nolan Rebernick
Electrical and Computer Engineering ETDs
Enhancing the accuracy of atmospheric loss modeling holds the potential to significantly refine estimations of received power, thereby enhancing the overall quality of satellite communication links. This study aims to pioneer and validate an innovative modeling framework to reliably predict atmospheric attenuation along satellite-to-ground propagation paths, particularly focusing on portions of the W-band (81-86 GHz) and V-band (71-76 GHz). By leveraging meteorological data, this approach will encompass various weather scenarios, including clear skies, cloud cover, and diverse forms of precipitation. Utilizing the generated time domain data, the research aims to construct complementary cumulative distribution functions, enabling the analysis of satellite …

Faculty Research 2024
PURPOSE: Existing resources that characterize the essentiality status of genes are based on either proliferation assessment in human cell lines, viability evaluation in mouse knockouts, or constraint metrics derived from human population sequencing studies. Several repositories document phenotypic annotations for rare disorders; however, there is a lack of comprehensive reporting on lethal phenotypes.
METHODS: We queried Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man for terms related to lethality and classified all Mendelian genes according to the earliest age of death recorded for the associated disorders, from prenatal death to no reports of premature death. We characterized the genes across these lethality categories, …

The Spiritual Prodigy, The Reluctant Guru, And The Saint: Mirabai And Collaborative Leadership At Hari Krishna Mandir, Nancy M. Martin
Religious Studies Faculty Articles and Research
This article explores the life and influence of Indira Devi Niloy (1920–1997) who in 1949 began to encounter the sixteenth-century saint–poet Mirabai during her meditative trance states. She would recount songs, stories, and teachings that the saint gave to her as well as scenes from Mirabai’s life that she witnessed as an observer and at other times experienced directly as a participant. Their ongoing relationship would have a tremendous influence on Indira Devi as well as her guru Dilip Kumar Roy (1897–1980) and the increasingly international community that grew up around them. Their interactions and Indira Devi’s reports in turn …
