Opioid-related deaths are the leading cause of injury deaths in Utah. Individuals who seek treatment for opioid misuse report stigma from healthcare professionals as the leading barrier to accessing treatment. Health professionals provide a variety of treatment options in efforts of combating high rates of opioid misuse. However, these professionals may not be properly trained in stigma reduction strategies, thus leading to poor client care and outcomes. The current study examined the association between contact with individuals who misuse opioids and stigma perceptions among healthcare professionals. There are 12 nutrients essential for plant growth, two of these are phosphorus and potassium. The demand and need for these nutrients are very high in agricultural systems including corn. Phosphorus stimulates root and shoot growth and is essential for seedling growth and stability. Potassium increases tolerance to water stress, as well as resistance to disease, these are both critical in terms of soil fertility and in determining what fertilizers to apply as well as the amount of fertilizer needed. Breastfeeding provides health benefits for postpartum individuals and their infants. Healthy People 2030 seeks to increase 6-months exclusive breastfeeding to 42%, which has had little or no detectable change. North Carolina breastfeeding rates fall below this goal. As such, there is a continued need for research to close these gaps, particularly in South Central Appalachia. Resistant hypertension is a condition in which blood pressure remains above the ideal value (120/80 mmHg), despite concurrent use of three antihypertensive agents of different classes taken at maximally tolerated doses. Amiloride has been clinically proven to manage resistant hypertension in patients with multiple treatment regimens including a diuretic. Currently, it is available as an oral tablet, which is administered once daily with an oral bioavailability of 50%, which gets reduced to 30% when administered with food. In addition, gastrointestinal side effects are also reported. Patient adherence to the multi-drug treatment regimen has been found to be low in patients …

This presentation analyzes the narrative role of a well-known Sir Gawain and the Green Knight illustration in the Pearl Manuscript, also known as the Gawain Manuscript. It is thought to be the oldest surviving English manuscript, which includes a full page of written text. The Pearl Manuscript is a unique jewel among the tapestry of medieval manuscripts and marginalia in the 14th century. Incorporating evidence from scholarly journals, written adaptations, and illustrations, this research demonstrates that the illustration conveys meaning in sacrifice, dignity, and protection. As a result, the illustration adapted from Sir Gawain and the Green Knight illustrates heavenly-like …

Sandalwood oil is a high-value essential oil extracted from the heartwood of East Indian Sandalwood (Santalum album) and Australian Sandalwood (Santalum Spicatum) and is prominent in numerous luxury perfume brands due to its exotic, versatile, and pleasant fragrance. α-Santalol, the main aromatic constituent in S. album and S. spicatum, exhibits anti-aging, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and potential anti-cancer properties, accounting for the oil’s medicinal and dermatologic applications. High demand of the oil resulted in excessive harvesting of sandalwood trees, necessitating a need to develop more efficient and sustainable extraction methods. Young recounted her morning's work in assisting Margaret Alley, a fellow wife of Brigham Young, during a sickness which had begun over a week earlier after Margaret had "over done" herself. Young wrote that while she stayed home from church meetings that day, Margaret "was relieved of a two month sickness-perfect form occasioned by a hurt." Margaret Alley had experienced a miscarriage. When news of Anastasio Somoza Debayle's Assassination in Paraguay reached Nicaragua, the reigning Sandinista government announced over radio that its citizens should "celebrate with joy the execution of Anastasio Somoza." Nicaraguans obeyed this command in force, dancing in the streets, filling downtown bars, and setting off fireworks late into the night. While U.S.-based journalists did not face this turn of events with such glee, they eagerly provided their own renditions of what precisely had transpired the morning of September 17, 1980, as well as the legacy Somoza would leave behind. In 1576, at the height of Catholic evangelization in the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, an unnamed Catholic preacher met regularly with a congregation of indigenous Maya to teach them the doctrine of Christianity. He taught them about the biblical creation, as well as the nature of God and the devil, all from his own original doctrinal instructional manual. This preacher was also a Maya himself Between the years 1500 and 1800, only about 1,100 European-descended Catholic friars ministered to the tens of millions of Maya in Mesoamerica. Liturgical cloths and hangings have been a ubiquitous part of the Eucharistic experience for Christian churchgoers for much of the Catholic Church's religious history. While often overshadowed or displaced in religious images by the drapery of individual figures, altar cloths and frontals are occasionally featured, as in the Master of the Aachen Altar's images of The Mass of St. Gregory (figs. Venezuela's sociopolitical landscape has deteriorated significantly over the past decade, culminating in a profound humanitarian crisis. This ethnography, conducted from 2015 to the present, explores the experiences of a study group comprising 2000 Venezuelan communication college students, aged 17 to 25, who navigate structural violence while striving for quality higher education. The research employed a multifaceted approach, encompassing interviews, focus groups, and observations. Ultramicroelectrodes (UMEs) are electrodes with characteristic dimensions (e.g., radius) smaller than ~25 μm. UMEs exhibit several advantages compared to conventional electrodes, such as improved signal-to-noise ratio, faster response time, and the ability to measure species in confined spaces (e.g., inside cells). UMEs can be applied to measure electroactive species such as reactive oxygen species (ROS) like hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). ROS are dangerous intermediates that are produced by the reduction of oxygen in the mitochondria. H2O2 is considered an ROS since it reacts with metal ions and other species to make hydroxyl radicals. Hydroxyl radicals cause oxidative damage to the body …

To meet the growing demand for biofuel, it is imperative to find more efficient methods to process nonedible biomass. Previous studies have shown low temperature alcohol pretreatment to be a viable method to extract hexane from cellulose, as would be available in lignocellulosic biomass. The purpose of this study was to fill gaps in this research, determining the optimal hydrogen bronze and alcohol to maximize the hexane output, to verify glucose was produced from the procedure, and to ensure that peaks believed to represent hexane were accurate.
