Regulation of protein binding through autoinhibition commonly occurs via interactions involving intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs). These intramolecular interactions can directly or allosterically inhibit intermolecular protein or DNA binding, regulate enzymatic activity, and control the assembly of large macromolecular complexes. Autoinhibitory interactions mediated by protein disorder are inherently transient, making their identification and characterization challenging. In this work, we explore the structural and functional diversity of disorder-mediated autoinhibition for a variety of biological mechanisms, with a focus on the role of multivalency and effective concentration. This research investigates how Teacher Education faculty incorporate the needs, self-efficacy, and experiences of teacher candidates (TCs) into curriculum and program designs. The quality of computing education is partly dependent on a teacher’s technological efficacy as there is a positive correlation between technology-related access, technological efficacy, and academic outcomes(Bower et al., 2015). A low self-efficacy may be due to a lack of access to resources and equitable learning opportunities. To address such a social justice issue, a student-centered game-based learning approach was designed in a course toward “an intentional, equity-focused vision to improve access, engagement, and achievement” for all students …

Perceptions Of White Therapists’ Social Class By White Clients Experiencing Rural Poverty In Maine, Rebecca Roveto

This dissertation explored the experiences and perceptions of white therapists’ social class by white clients facing poverty in rural Maine. Employing an intersectional methodology rooted in Critical White Theory, Critical Theory, and the Critical Theory of Care in Nursing, the study utilized semi-structured interviews, thematic coding, and discourse analysis. The findings revealed that regional cultural values, specifically intergenerational ideals of independence, privacy, and self-sufficiency, significantly impacted clients’ encounters with stigma and social exclusion. Notably, participants perceived that Mainecare’s, Maine’s Medicaid program, reimbursement rates influenced therapist accessibility and questioned if it was associated with a lower social class.

We present a new technique for the upcoming tri-static incoherent scatter radar system EISCAT 3D (E3D) to perform a volumetric reconstruction of the 3D ionospheric electric current density vector field, focusing on the feasibility of the E3D system. The input to our volumetric reconstruction technique are estimates of the 3D current density perpendicular to the main magnetic field, $\mathbf{j} \perp$, and its co-variance, to be obtained from E3D observations based on two main assumptions: 1) Ions fully magnetised above the $E$ region, set to 200 km here. 2) Electrons fully magnetised above the base of our domain, set to 90 …

OBJECTIVE: Same-day discharge Total Ankle Arthroplasty (TAA) is becoming more common. This study sought to report the percentage of patients within a national database that had a same-day discharge following TAA, and to compare the complication rates for patients that had same-day discharge to those that had a short hospital stay. METHODS: From 2012-2021, the National Surgical Quality Improvement Project (NSQIP) database was used to identify all patients undergoing TAA. Using single cell RNA sequencing of mouse naïve CD4⁺ T cells, we identified 5 unique transcriptional subsets within the naïve CD4⁺ T cell compartment. Despite the recognized gut-brain axis link, natural variations in microbial profiles between patients hinder definition of normal abundance ranges, confounding the impact of dysbiosis on infant neurodevelopment. We infer a digital twin of the infant microbiome, forecasting ecosystem trajectories from a few initial observations. Using 16S ribosomal RNA profiles from 88 preterm infants (398 fecal samples and 32,942 abundance estimates for 91 microbial classes), the model (Q-net) predicts abundance dynamics with R² = 0.69. Contrasting the fit to Q-nets of typical versus suboptimal development, we can reliably estimate individual deficit risk (M_δ) and identify infants …

Blind Early Services Tennessee (BEST) is an early intervention agency that serves children ages 0-5 with visual impairments across Tennessee. BEST serves over 200 children and families across the state offering early intervention (BEST Start), parent empowerment (BEST Advocate), and family support (BEST Together) programming. The purpose of this project was to assist in the implementation of an early identification initiative (BEST Screening) using the Neonatal Assessment Visual European Grid (NAVEG). REACH provides a full range of follow-up care designed to meet the physical, emotional, and practical needs of survivors and continuous surveillance of deleterious effects of cancer and its treatments. This doctoral capstone was completed in partnership with Flip for Function, a therapeutic gymnastic program that combines occupational therapy practices to serve children with developmental differences. The goal of this project was to address gaps in the company from perspectives of the current program and the population it serves, to increase satisfaction of all those involved in Flip for Function. This capstone project focused on creating updated training protocols, developing effective curriculum for class offerings, and furthering marketing content for current and future programming. This qualitative study investigates the attitudes and experiences of administrative healthcare employees toward remote work at an Academic Medical Center (AMC) in the Southeastern United States. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare organizations rapidly shifted toward remote work to ensure safety, prompting questions regarding the sustainability of this model. Through semi-structured interviews, participants expressed a preference for remote work, citing increased productivity and job satisfaction. Flexibility emerged as a key benefit, allowing employees to effectively integrate professional and personal responsibilities. However, maintaining boundaries between work and personal life posed challenges, necessitating clear policies and support structures. This project contributes to existing …

This qualitative study sought to explore the perceptions of women school superintendents in K -12 public schools in Texas about the challenges they face as leaders and how they endure these impactful challenges, particularly during critical times such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Using Polidore’s Resilience Theory (2004) as the theoretical framework, the study sought to determine which of the nine resilience qualities, either innately possessed or through acquisition over time, helped to sustain the women superintendents during adverse situations associated with the highest level of leadership in a school district.
