Rescape: Transforming Coral-Reefscape Images For Quantitative Analysis, Zachary Ferris, Eraldo Ribeiro, Tomofumi Nagata, Robert Van Woesik

Ever since the first image of a coral reef was captured in 1885, people worldwide have been accumulating images of coral reefscapes that document the historic conditions of reefs. However, these innumerable reefscape images suffer from perspective distortion, which reduces the apparent size of distant taxa, rendering the images unusable for quantitative analysis of reef conditions. Here we solve this century-long distortion problem by developing a novel computer-vision algorithm, ReScape, which removes the perspective distortion from reefscape images by transforming them into top-down views, making them usable for quantitative analysis of reef conditions. African American males are more likely to be involved in a use-of-force encounter with police yet less likely than their non-Black counterparts to seek mental health services afterwards. Little is known about the perceptions this population has about the ease/difficulty they encounter when attempting to access care following the event. The purpose of this qualitative study was to examine the perceptions of 11 African American males in north Saint Louis County, Missouri, about the facilitators of and/or barriers to accessing mental health care services after experiencing a use-of-force encounter with police. This research is aimed at examining the thermodynamics of variable thermophysical properties of non-Newtonian fluids with the exploration of antiviral and antibacterial mechanisms. The mechanism of antiviral together with antibacterial was separately considered by utilizing the silver nanoparticles. The physical phenomenon comprising thermal radiation, magnetic field, chemical reaction, heat generation parameters, etc are presented as partial differential equations (PDEs). The formulated PDEs are changed into ordinary differential equations using suitable similarity variables. The spectral relaxation method (SRM) was employed to numerically solve the set of equations. This phenomenological study explored the lived experiences of teachers when enrolled in an asynchronous pre-service educator certification program. This study was guided by John Keller’s theory of motivation, as it explained the motivational factors that influence the Attention, Relevance, Confidence, and Satisfaction (ARCS) model for teachers who have completed an asynchronous educator certification program. A qualitative hermeneutical phenomenology design was combined with snowball and convenience sampling to enroll 10 participants from a school district in the Midwest.
