This article will summarize methods for providers to effectively combat vaccine hesitancy in their patient populations. Vaccine hesitancy is a growing concern in the medical field, as new cases of vaccine preventable diseases arise. However, vaccine hesitancy is more common than vaccine resistance and can be converted into vaccine acceptance with effective communication strategies.

There is no easy solution to the complex problem of vaccine hesitancy. Most studies demonstrate that effective conversion to vaccine acceptance requires tailoring vaccine information to the patient and listening to their concerns. This research is necessitated as Black women continue to face unique and significant challenges in educational leadership. Supported by Black Feminist Theory, this study explores the successful leadership pathways of Black women in medical higher education while navigating barriers. The goal is to promote the inclusion of Black women in medical education and leadership positions by utilizing three core tenets of Black feminism – intersectionality, lived experiences/storytelling, and Black women as agents of knowledge (Black feminist epistemology). Maternal cigarette smoking during pregnancy (MSP) is a global health concern, with approximately half of smoking women continuing this habit throughout pregnancy. Epidemiological studies link in-utero exposure to cigarette smoke to detrimental outcomes, including an increased risk of asthma and smoking initiation in the offspring. While epidemiological research has shown the negative impacts of MSP, the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. Epigenetic modifications, specifically DNA methylation (DNAm), have been suggested as a mediator of the association between MSP and adverse health outcomes in the offspring. Although there has been some scholarship in regard to country music in the city of Shreveport, Louisiana, as well as research into the lives of Jimmie Davis and Huddie Ledbetter, no comprehensive research into the city’s rich Black music scene has heretofore existed. Furthermore, the area has been home to a number of Black artists about whom little has been written. This dissertation attempts to document Shreveport’s Black music scene, both in live performance and recording, during a forty-year period stretching from 1948 to 1988. Abstract Highlights: Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) affect 63.9% of the U.S. population, slated to cause detrimental impact on physical health, mental health, and social outcomes to include parenting behaviors; however, a thorough assessment of its impact on foster parents is minimal. Foster parents are subject to ACEs, which in turn, may impact foster care placement outcomes. Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS) is the process of capturing CO₂ from an above ground carbon source, transporting it to a sequestration well, and permanently sinking it deep underground. Despite the state of California depending on CCS to reach carbon neutrality, not one CCS project is operational yet in the state. Due to the recent creation and expansion of state low carbon fuel standard (LCFS) credits and the federal 45Q credits, CCS projects are beginning to be developed. Between 2021 and 2023 twelve Class VI applications were submitted to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in California.

Do restrictive healthcare policies impact whether expectant mothers receive adequate prenatal care? Could such policies also affect access to alternative birthing options for delivery? Through a literature review and a two-way fixed effects model using panel data, this study investigates two categories of state-level restrictive healthcare policies: scope of practice laws and certificate of need laws. The literature demonstrates the detriments of scope of practice care on access to care and maternal health. However, the statistical models presented on scope of practice find no relationship between scope of practice laws and adequate prenatal care or alternative birthing options. Though the …

American political systems, predominantly steered by White males, often conform to masculine leadership paradigms derived from traditionally male-dominated domains like the U.S. government. Thus, it is vital to explore women’s roles in political leadership to foster a more comprehensive understanding of effective leadership.

The purpose of this study was to examine how women who have served as U.S. secretary of state exhibited leadership. Of the 71 people to have served as secretary of state, just three have been women: Madeleine Albright, Condoleezza Rice, and Hillary Rodham Clinton. Introduction: Phlegmasia cerulea dolens (PCD) is an uncommon, potentially life-threatening complication of acute deep venous thromboses that requires a timely diagnosis. The name of the condition, the visual diagnostic criteria, and the preponderance of cases in the literature referencing findings exclusively in patients with lighter skin complexions means that PCD may not be on the differential diagnosis for the patient with more melanated skin who is experiencing this time-sensitive vascular emergency. PURPOSE: To determine the impact of poor mental health on patient-reported and surgical outcomes after microdiscectomy.

METHODS: Patients ≥ 18 years who underwent a single-level lumbar microdiscectomy from 2014 to 2021 at a single academic institution were retrospectively identified. Patient-reported outcomes (PROMs) were collected at preoperative, three-month, and one-year postoperative time points. PROMs included the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), Visual Analog Scale Back and Leg (VAS Back and VAS Leg, respectively), and the mental and physical component of the short form-12 survey (MCS and PCS). • Electronic structure methods are being used to study the addition of CS2. OCS and CO2 to Group IV (MO2)n and Group VI (MO3)n (n = 1, 2, 3) nanoclusters, beginning with the MO2 and MO3 monomers according to a "bottom-up" approach.

• Physisorption is a process in which molecules bind through Van der Waals interactions. The enthalpies of these reactions are rather low, and these interactions are usually favored at lower temperatures.

• Chemisorption is adsorption in which chemical bonds are broken and/or formed therefore, an entirely new chemical species is formed.

Drones are unmanned aerial vehicles that have a variety of uses in many fields such as package delivery and search operations. Tello is a small, programmable drone designed for educational purposes. We developed algorithms using DJI Tello Py, an open-source Application Programming Interface, to command the movements of Tello for tracking a target object (i.e., human). Our algorithms utilize digital image processing techniques on Tello's live video stream to optimize the number of movements Tello needs to reach its target. Dating Violence is exceptionally prevalent among young adults. Dating violence includes physical, emotional, sexual, verbal abuse, and stalking. Implementing intervention and prevention tools within higher education is critical to teach young adults the warning signs of dating violence and where they can receive help. This study implemented a 2-session dating violence prevention program developed by the Domestic Violence Center of Chester County in Honors 100; a first-year course taken by all new honors students. First, some researchers have found that immigrants evaluate their lives in the host society based on their previous experiences with crime and the criminal justice system in their home country (Sun & Wu, 2018). The question of whether to grant all citizens a basic income that would starts with adulthood is the source of much controversy today among people who believe that government should do something to address income inequality (including but not limited to addressing increasingly widespread poverty and homelessness). Philippe Van Parijs famously advocated such a policy, but his proposal was rejected by John Rawls, who demurred at subsidizing Malibu surfers with public support for their leisure and instead emphasized the need for a full employment policy. In our research, we are investigating Pennes Bioheat equation, which is used for simulating the propagation of heat energy in human tissues. This equation was proposed by Pennes in 1948 based on his experiments of measuring the radial temperature distribution in the forearm of nine subjects. Pennes' equation provides the theoretical basis for studying heat transfer in perfused tissue and has been widely studied since then. A new method called Augmented Matched Interface and Boundary (AMIB) has been developed to solve partial differential equation models, such as the heat equation, over irregular two-dimensional domains. The original AMIB method features unique numerical treatments to solve problems with various boundary conditions and shapes, resulting in highly accurate and efficient numerical solutions. However, recent numerical experiments have revealed that the original AMIB method can fail when dealing with sharply curved boundaries.
