In Search of Design Process : A Computational Framework for Meaningful Form

Imagine walking through your hometown, a place where identity, culture, memory, and collective resilience should be visible within the built environment. As cities continue to develop, new buildings rise from the ground, yet many remain indistinguishable glass boxes. They are efficient and visually neutral, but they fail to reflect the depth of culture, the struggles of communities, or the meaning embedded within place. These buildings fulfill functional requirements, but they often lack intentional expression. They exist, but they do not speak.

The U.S. nuclear energy industry currently operates using an open fuel cycle in which uranium is mined for fuel, used in reactors once, and then disposed of. The alternative is a closed fuel cycle where spent nuclear fuel from reactors is reprocessed and reused. As the modern-day nuclear industry seeks to expand, the shortcomings of the closed fuel cycle are becoming apparent and may stifle further growth. On August 15, 2025, Gemini Space Station, Inc. filed a registration statement on Form S-1 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) contemplating the offering of up to 16,666,667 shares of Common Stock. After receiving comments from the Commission and the additional filing of amendments to the prospectus, the offering of about 15.2 million shares was priced before market opening on September 12, 2025, at $28 per share. Climate change poses a significant threat to the health and safety of New Jersey’s coastal communities. Scientists predict rising sea levels and intensifying storms will bring increased flooding, erosion, and other climate-driven coastal hazards. In January 2026, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (“NJDEP”) adopted the Resilient Environments and Landscapes (“REAL”) rule amendments. While the REAL rules made New Jersey the first state to adopt forward-looking climate-adaptation land-use regulations, New Jersey’s economic and environmental interests conflict. As more consumers become informed about climate change and their own environmental impact, more businesses begin to market their products as “green,” “eco-friendly,” or “sustainable.” However, not all products marketed as environmentally friendly1 actually are; greenwashing, the deceptive marketing practices that misrepresent or exaggerate a product’s or service’s environmental benefits, is on the rise. Imagine a consumer chooses to buy a new outfit from their favorite brand’s “sustainable” line. Environmental hazards cause significant harm across society, with certain communities bearing the brunt of these burdens. In response, environmental advocates formed the environmental justice movement to promote equal environmental treatment for all. Closely related to this concept of environmental justice is environmental racism, which focuses on how people of color are disproportionately affected by environmental risks. While efforts to address environmental justice and racism have led to some successes, they have not fully addressed the persistent challenges affecting communities of color.

Tool use and physical reasoning are often assumed to rely on shared cognitive and neural mechanisms. At some level, this correspondence is expected: using an object typically requires understanding its physical properties. However, both capacities are complex and multicomponential, so the relationship between them may vary across levels of representation and task demands. Here, we asked whether third-person physical reasoning about object dynamics can dissociate from tool use (i.e., performing a tool's typical action) in individuals with left-hemisphere stroke. PURPOSE

This DNP project focused on reducing the fall rate in a medical intermediate care unit by half, from 1.81 falls per 1000 patient days to 0.91 falls per 1000 patient days.

This study explored how middle school principals understand and support students of color with disabilities (SOCWD) on comprehensive school campuses. This topic is deeply personal and professional, shaped by my experiences as a mother, special education teacher, and district leader who has witnessed ongoing challenges in how schools serve students with disabilities, especially Black and Brown students. Guided by Disability Critical Race Theory (DisCrit; Annamma et al., 2013) and Social Justice Leadership (Theoharis, 2007), this study examined how race and disability intersect in school systems and influence leadership decisions, practices, and access to opportunity. The built environment is a key determinant of overall well-being through the opportunity for social interaction, stimulation, safety, comfort, and a sense of belonging. The vehicular-centric design of Downtown Atlanta has resulted in pedestrians seeking comfort away from the ground level using viaducts, subterrain transit, and sky bridges. Learning To Get Out Of The Wing - The Motivations Of Learners Incarcerated In Québec Provincial Prisons, Frédérick Armstrong

41 men and women incarcerated in the Québec provincial prison system were asked why they enrolled in educational activities. Relying on self-determination theory’s to describe and categorize their motivations, we found that most respondents had extrinsic motivations to participate in educational activities and that only three respondents could be described as intrinsically motivated. Respondents joined programmes to escape boredom, to receive financial compensation or to receive some other benefits; not for the pleasure of learning. These results are different from other research reporting that a majority of incarcerated learners were intrinsically motivated. After addressing this contrast and arguing that it …

Enshrined in the 14th Amendment of the Constitution is the promise that all persons within the jurisdiction of the United States “shall receive equal protection of the laws.” For Black Americans, this promise has been routinely unfulfilled– not only during the “Jim Crow” era, but also continuing after the Civil Rights era into the present. Instead of equal justice under law, Black Americans have been subjected to systematic dehumanization and the erasure of constitutional rights, often leading to a presumption of Black guilt rather than innocence within the criminal justice system and within white public rhetoric. In this rent overcharge action, the Appellate Division modified the lower court's order, granting summary judgment to the tenant on liability. The court held that the landlord's rent concessions, exceeding three months, functioned as a preferential rent under post-HSTPA law, rejecting pre-HSTPA DHCR guidance. It also found lease provisions allowing the landlord to assess attorneys' fees without a court order unconscionable and unenforceable under Real Property Law § 234-a and Rent Stabilization Law § 26-512(g). The landlord failed to rebut the presumption of willfulness, as post-commencement refunds do not defeat it, thus warranting treble damages. The case was remanded for …

Early childhood is a time of rapid brain development. This stage lays the foundation for future growth. As children refine motor skills and explore, they are naturally prone to falls. Several factors increase their vulnerability to concussions: a larger head-to-body ratio, a thin and pliable developing skull, and weak neck muscles (Beauchamp et al., 2024; Graham et al., 2014). Evidence shows brain injury in early childhood affects language, executive function, socialemotional development, and cognition (Haarbauer-Krupa et al., 2019; Salley et al., 2020; Séguin et al., 2022).
