Effects Of Interruptions From Patient Admissions And Discharges On Nurse Workload, Satisfaction, And Falls, Lorena Estrella

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Bedside shift handovers are pivotal for nurses to exchange essential patient health information, yet interruptions during handovers present challenges impacting workload, job satisfaction, and patient safety. The purposes of this study, which was underpinned by contributing factors to adverse events in healthcare model, were to determine if there was a relationship (a) between the frequency of interruptions from new patient admissions and discharges during bedside shift reports on nurses' perceptions of workload, (b) between the frequency of interruptions from new patient admissions and discharges during bedside shift reports and nurses' perceptions of workload on job satisfaction among hospital nurses, and …

Neutrosophic Model For Measuring And Evaluating The Role Of Digital Transformation In Improving Sustainable Performance Using The Balanced Scorecard In Egyptian Universities, A. A. Salama, Osama Mohamed Mobarez, Mohamed Hamed Elfar, Rafif Alhabib Sep 2024

Neutrosophic Model For Measuring And Evaluating The Role Of Digital Transformation In Improving Sustainable Performance Using The Balanced Scorecard In Egyptian Universities, A. A. Salama, Osama Mohamed Mobarez, Mohamed Hamed Elfar, Rafif Alhabib

Neutrosophic Systems with Applications

This paper proposes a neutrosophic model for measuring and evaluating the role of digital transformation in improving sustainable performance using the balanced scorecard in Egyptian universities. The model takes into account uncertainty, ambiguity, and incompleteness in the data. The model first calculates the neutrosophic measures of digital transformation and sustainable performance for each university. Then, it uses neutrosophic logic to evaluate the causal relationship between digital transformation and sustainable performance. The results of the analysis can used to identify the digital transformation indicators that have the greatest impact on sustainable performance. This information can then be used to develop strategies …

Toward Reliable Symptom Coding In Electronic Health Records For Symptom Assessment And Research: Identification And Categorization Of International Classification Of Diseases, Ninth Revision, Clinical Modification Symptom Codes, Tru Cao, Veronica Brady, Meagan Whisenant, Xueying Wang, Yuxuan Gu, Hulin Wu

Faculty, Staff and Student Publications

To date, symptom documentation has mostly relied on clinical notes in electronic health records or patient-reported outcomes using disease-specific symptom inventories. To provide a common and precise language for symptom recording, assessment, and research, a comprehensive list of symptom codes is needed. The International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision or its clinical modification ( International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision, Clinical Modification ) has a range of codes designated for symptoms, but it does not contain codes for all possible symptoms, and not all codes in that range are symptom related. This study aimed to identify and categorize the first …

Implementing The Inflation Reduction Act: Progress To Date And Risks From A Changing Administration, Romany M. Webb, Martin Lockman, Emma Shumway

Sabin Center for Climate Change Law

The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (“IRA”) is the largest investment in climate change mitigation and adaptation in American history. The IRA appropriates more than $142 billion to carry out activities designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect against the impacts of climate change. This includes up to $37 billion in appropriations for federal loans and loan guarantees, and nearly $105 billion allocated for grants, awards, and other direct spending by federal agencies. In addition, the IRA creates and expands a number of tax credit programs designed to support a broad range of climate-related activities, including investments in clean …

Microfiltration Membrane Pore Functionalization With Primary And Quaternary Amines For Pfas Remediation: Capture, Regeneration, And Reuse, Sam Thompson, Angela Gutierrez, Jennifer Bukowski, Dibakar Bhattacharyya

UK CARES Faculty Publications

The widespread production and use of multi-fluorinated carbon-based substances for a variety of purposes has contributed to the contamination of the global water supply in recent decades. Conventional wastewater treatment can reduce contaminants to acceptable levels, but the concen- trated retentate stream is still a burden to the environment. A selective anion-exchange membrane capable of capture and controlled release could further concentrate necessary contaminants, mak- ing their eventual degradation or long-term storage easier. To this end, commercial microfiltration membranes were modified using pore functionalization to incorporate an anion-exchange moiety within the membrane matrix. This functionalization was performed with primary and …

Diabetes Screening Among Women With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: A Descriptive Study Of Commercial Claims, 2011–2019, Jacklyn Vollmer, W. Jay Christian, Mary E. Lacy Sep 2024

Diabetes Screening Among Women With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: A Descriptive Study Of Commercial Claims, 2011–2019, Jacklyn Vollmer, W. Jay Christian, Mary E. Lacy

UK CARES Faculty Publications

Background Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder that affects 6–12% of United States women of reproductive age. Because women with PCOS are at an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes, clinical practice guidelines from a number of organizations (e.g. American Diabetes Association, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, US Preventive Services Task Force) recommend that individuals with PCOS are routinely screened for diabetes. Guidelines further indicate that an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) should be used for diabetes screening in women with PCOS as opposed to an A1C or fasting plasma glucose test. The purpose of this …

A Local Option: How Medicare Patients In Rural States Could Obtain Coverage For Weight Loss Medications, Emily Blackburn Sep 2024

A Local Option: How Medicare Patients In Rural States Could Obtain Coverage For Weight Loss Medications, Emily Blackburn

West Virginia Law Review

There are currently three options when it comes to managing obesity: (1) making nutritional and activity changes; (2) weight loss medications; and (3) weight loss surgery. The existing limited options for managing obesity are even more restricted for Medicare patients. Making lifestyle changes might not be effective for a variety of reasons, including persistent food cravings and experiences of weight stigma from healthcare providers. To qualify for weight loss surgery, Medicare patients must satisfy several criteria in addition to the already specific weight loss surgery requirements. Additionally, weight loss surgery might not be the most viable option for the Medicare …
