Right Lung Hypoplasia Associated With Polysplenia: A Case Report And Literature Review, Rayyan M. Almusally

Abstract Pulmonary agenesis is a very rare congenital abnormality that can be missed in a routine radiographic examination, which delays diagnosis until adulthood. It can be associated with other congenital malformations, such as valvular heart disease and gastrointestinal organ abnormalities. Computed tomography (CT) is a useful modality for its better delineation of pulmonary and vascular structures. The reported case here is for an adult male who presented with dextroposition of the heart and was found to have a unilobed right lung associated with polysplenia. This has not been previously reported in the literature.

Abstract Objectives: To investigate the correlation between psychological resilience and well-being, considering various demographic factors within a Saudi society. Methods: This study was carried out in King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from January to March 2023. A total of 746 male and female participants aged 18 and above were surveyed. We used a comparative, descriptive, correlational research method to achieve the study objectives, utilizing Conner and Davidson’s resilience measure and Ryff’s well-being scale for data collection. The statistical methods employed included Spearman’s correlation coefficient, t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Mann-Whitney U, and Kruskal-Wallis tests. Results: The study revealed …

This is the first paper to report Ascocoryne turficola Boud. 1905 (Helotiales: Ascomycota) within the United States. It is an obligate bog fungus native to Europe and Siberia, where it is extremely rare across most of its range. A. turficola appeared at Lily Pond Bog in Marquette, Michigan (87.47º W, 46.59º N) in 2019, almost contemporaneous with anecdotal reports in Minnesota and Ontario. Since 2019, the Lily Pond population has exploded and become the dominant fungus in this bog but has yet to spread to similar bogs nearby. Using a qualitative phenomenological design, this study examined the lived experiences of eight secondary school leaders in an urban district in the Northeastern United States. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews to explore the relationships between school leaders’ SEL perspectives and the effective implementation of SEL initiatives. By examining school leaders’ views on SEL competency practices and their role in meeting students’ diverse needs, the research sought to inform the development of more effective SEL programs in urban Title 1 secondary schools. The generation of waste from the demolition of old structures poses a significant environmental challenge. Recycling these materials as aggregates in concrete offers a potential alleviation of environmental impact. While recycled aggregates offer promise as a remedy, they are not without drawbacks. However, innovative approaches have been developed to overcome these limitations. Among these, plastic coating stands out as a particularly sustainable solution. Regional-scale characterization of shallow landslide hazards is important for reducing their destructive impact on society. These hazards are commonly characterized by (a) their location and likelihood using susceptibility maps, (b) landslide size and frequency using geomorphic scaling laws, and (c) the magnitude of disturbance required to cause landslides using initiation thresholds. Typically, this is accomplished through the use of inventories documenting the locations and triggering conditions of previous landslides. The ongoing reform of investor-state dispute settlement (“ISDS”) underlines the pertinence of an old question that has received various and conflicting answers: Is investment arbitration a public or private method of dispute settlement? A key criticism leveled at investment treaty arbitration is that public interest disputes are decided by a system of private justice. This article critically reviews the dominant interpretations of investment treaty arbitration as public, private, or hybrid.
