Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale – Iv México Versus U.S. Versions In The Assessment Of Mexican Americans, Gabriela Ontiveros, Philip Gerard Gasquoine

Psychological Science Faculty Publications

Objective:

To delineate score differences between the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale-IV (WAIS-IV) and the WAIS-IV México in the assessment of balanced bilingual Mexican Americans and to determine the efficacy of five hold measures in predicting summary scores in each version.

Methods:

Hold measures were WAIS-IV Information, Vocabulary, and Matrix Reasoning subtests, picture vocabulary, and the Test of Premorbid Function (English)/Word Accentuation Test (Spanish). Using a repeated measures design, 60 neurologically intact participants were tested in a counterbalanced order, with WAIS-IV version as the repeated measure (mean intertest interval = 5.68 days). To minimize practice effects, the five visual-perceptual subtests, which …

Proton-Decay Branches And Structures In 7li And In Neutron-Poor Nuclides Around Calcium, Nicolas Danato Dronchi Oct 2024

Proton-Decay Branches And Structures In 7li And In Neutron-Poor Nuclides Around Calcium, Nicolas Danato Dronchi

Arts & Sciences Graduate Student Theses and Dissertations

The collection of proton decays observed via invariant-mass spectroscopy in this work have been applied to an array of topics in nuclear physics including the continuum effects on near-threshold resonances, the branching ratio for a quasi-bound system, and evidence for the evolution of shell structure. In the first experiment, the 6He(d,n)7Li* reaction was employed in an attempt to populate a resonance predicted by an ab initio calculation. No evidence of this resonance was found leading to a discussion on how the model needs to be improved in order to treat nuclear states above multiple thresholds. In a separate experiment, the …

Exploring Saudi Arabian Teachers' Perceptions Of Smartboard Instruction For Students With Communication Disorders, Mohammed Alqahtani Oct 2024

Exploring Saudi Arabian Teachers' Perceptions Of Smartboard Instruction For Students With Communication Disorders, Mohammed Alqahtani

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Using smartboards with students with communication needs in the classroom is one way to apply technology in educational settings. Research has shown the benefits of using the smartboard with students with disabilities (SWDs) and second-language learners. There is still a need to understand further teachers’ perceptions towards using the smartboard in their classrooms with students with communication needs. Therefore, I conducted an exploratory qualitative study to explore Saudi teachers' perceptions regarding the use of smartboards with students with communication needs in the classroom. I collected data via in-depth interviews, smartboard screen recordings, and audio recordings of teachers’ lessons taught using …

Transition Of Buoyancy-Driven Flow From An Axisymmetric To Non-Axisymmetric Vortex Inside An Evaporating Sessile Droplet, Jialing Yu, Zhenhai Pan, Justin A. Weibel Oct 2024

Transition Of Buoyancy-Driven Flow From An Axisymmetric To Non-Axisymmetric Vortex Inside An Evaporating Sessile Droplet, Jialing Yu, Zhenhai Pan, Justin A. Weibel

CTRC Research Publications

The internal flow within an evaporating sessile droplet has intriguing fluid mechanics important to various microfluidics applications. In the present study, a phenomenon is observed through numerical methods wherein the buoyancy-driven flow structure inside a droplet on a non-wetting substrate transitions from an axisymmetric toroidal vortex flow to a non-axisymmetric single vortex flow with increase in the substrate temperature. As the axisymmetric nature of the droplet flow field and evaporation characteristics are broken, the internal velocity accelerates significantly. The transition, which is attributed to a flow instability inside the droplet, is more prone to occur as the droplet volume or …

Bruce Lederman As Receiver V. Ayala

All Decisions

The court dismissed the nonpayment proceeding due to the landlord's defective rent demand, which improperly included late fees and failed to align with the amounts claimed in the petition. This inconsistency rendered the demand confusing and not a good faith approximation, thus failing to meet the requirements set by RPAPL.

Failure Modes In Orthopedic Oncologic Reconstructive Surgery: A Review Of Imaging Findings And Failure Rates, Juan Pretell Oct 2024

Failure Modes In Orthopedic Oncologic Reconstructive Surgery: A Review Of Imaging Findings And Failure Rates, Juan Pretell

All Publications

Limb salvage surgeries utilizing endoprostheses and allografts are performed for a variety of oncologic conditions. These reconstructions can fail and require revision for many reasons, which are outlined and classified into mechanical failures (soft tissue failures, aseptic loosening, structural failure), non-mechanical failures (infection, tumor progression), and pediatric failures (physeal arrest, growth dysplasia). Distinct radiologic and clinical findings define specific failure subtypes but are sparsely illustrated in the radiology literature. Specifically, an understanding of the organizational structure of the failure modes can direct radiologists' search for post-reconstruction complications, enhance an appreciation of their prognostic significance, and facilitate research by standardizing the …

Kimmel Cancer Center Faculty Papers

BACKGROUND: Despite the importance of community involvement in research, little formal training in community outreach and engagement (COE) is offered to cancer research trainees. A collaboration between the Office of COE and the Office of Cancer Research Training and Education Coordination (CRTEC) at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Jefferson led to the COE-CRTEC Trainee Working Group, a unique program in which trainees in cancer research each created a novel COE initiative.

METHODS: Four cancer research trainees were selected to serve as COE Program Liaisons (CPLs), each aligned with one of the four cancer center research programs. Each CPL …

Kimmel Cancer Center Faculty Papers

Background: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. Previous studies have indicated that microsatellite instability and deficient mismatch repair (MMR) may be associated with improved survival in patients with pancreatic cancer. Here, we aim to investigate the impact of deficient MMR (dMMR) status on oncologic outcomes in patients after resection of PDAC and periampullary adenocarcinoma. Methods: This is a single-institution, retrospective study based on a prospectively maintained database. Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (N = 342) and periampullary adenocarcinoma patients (N = 76) who underwent pancreatic resection surgery between 2016 and 2021 were …
