Method For Data Exchange Between A Transmitter/Receiver Unit On A Filter Element And A Further Transmitter/Receiver Unit

Defensive Publications Series

The paper is based on the task of enabling secure data exchange between a transmitter/receiver unit on a filter element and another transmitter/receiver fangs unit. This task is solved according to the paper. The method according to the paper is used for data exchange between a transmitter/receiver unit on a filter element and a further transmitter/receiver unit outside the filter element. With the help of the data exchange, in which a data signal is transmitted in encrypted form, a filter element can be identified, for example, so that the installation of a non-matching filter element in a filter housing can …

Nebraska Monthly Economic Indicators: September 27, 2024, Eric Thompson Sep 2024

Nebraska Monthly Economic Indicators: September 27, 2024, Eric Thompson

Leading Economic Indicator Reports

The Leading Economic Indicator-Nebraska fell by 0.69% in August 2024, after rising in both June and July. The decrease in the leading indicator, designed to predict economic growth six months into the future, implies that the Nebraska economy will grow at a moderate pace through the end of 2024 and in early 2025. There was a decrease in manufacturing hours worked in August, as weakness in the national manufacturing sector spread to Nebraska. There was also a drop in building permits for single-family homes, suggesting that state homebuilding activity remains subdued.

Biomaterials that integrate multiple functionalities, mimic the extracellular matrix (ECM) microenvironment to support cellular growth, and adhere robustly to damaged tissues are highly needed to advance tissue engineering. Protein-based biomaterials are promising due to their inherent biocompatibility, biomimicry, biodegradation, and cell-supportive properties. Herein, by leveraging the unique ability of dithiolanes to generate on-demand in situ thiols, a new class of dithiolane-modified, protein-based biomaterial that combines unique, seemingly opposing functions for tissue engineering is developed. Dithiolane-modified gelatin, a model protein used herein, enabled photoinitiator-free photo-crosslinking to form multi-functional gelatin-dithiolane (GelDT) hydrogels, which displayed exceptional long-term stability in cell culture media ( …

Book Review: Welcome The Wretched: In Defense Of The "Criminal Alien", Matthew Boaz

Law Faculty Popular Media

Prof. César Cuauhtémoc García Hernández has spent more than a decade writing about the intersection of criminal law and immigration law. In his most recent book, Welcome the Wretched: In Defense of the “Criminal Alien,” he offers a bold proclamation – that immigration enforcement in the United States should be untethered from the criminal legal system. Grounding his argument are two equally important assertions: (1) tying deportation to perceived criminal activity does not make the United States any safer, and (2) migrants are people, “complicated and contradictory,” but worthy of consideration beyond their greatest missteps.

Inexcusable Error: Finding A Balance Betweensound Will And The Stability Oftransactions, Moustafa Abou Mandour Moussa Aissa

Sultan Qaboos University Legal Studies Journal

Every contractor has a responsibility to be vigilant when finalizing a contract. This responsibility is founded on the belief that each contractor is best placed to evaluate their own goals and interests, and is therefore best equipped to protect and advocate for them. The contract is a receptacle of conflicting interests and differing objectives for its parties, so each party should hold themselves accountable before blaming the other. In legal practice and doctrine, it has been established that a contracting party's error will not render the contract invalid or terminated if it is an inexcusable error resulting from negligence or …

Faculty Research 2024

Genetic diagnosis plays a crucial role in rare diseases, particularly with the increasing availability of emerging and accessible treatments. The International Rare Diseases Research Consortium (IRDiRC) has set its primary goal as: "Ensuring that all patients who present with a suspected rare disease receive a diagnosis within one year if their disorder is documented in the medical literature". Despite significant advances in genomic sequencing technologies, more than half of the patients with suspected Mendelian disorders remain undiagnosed. In response, IRDiRC proposes the establishment of "a globally coordinated diagnostic and research pipeline". To help facilitate this, IRDiRC formed the Task Force …

Insecta Mundi

The invasive armored scale, Lepidosaphes laterochitinosa Green 1925 (Hemiptera: Coccomorpha: Diaspididae), was found in the Florida landscape for the first time in November 2022 and is now known from two south Florida counties: Broward and Miami-Dade. In Florida thus far, this polyphagous species has been found on Epipremnum pinnatum (L.) Engl. (Araceae), Dracaena Vand. ex. L. (Asparagaceae), and Breynia disticha J. R. Forst. and G. Forst. (Phyllanthaceae), all common landscape ornamentals. New parasitoid host records are provided for Encarsia lounsburyi (Berlese and Paoli), Encarsia citrina (Craw), and Aphytis lingnanensis Compere (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae) that emerged from L. laterochitinosa in Broward …

Little Lungs, Big Care: Prevent Unplanned Extubation, Leslie Huntington, Emily Jordan Ressman, Carmen Yearego Sep 2024

Little Lungs, Big Care: Prevent Unplanned Extubation, Leslie Huntington, Emily Jordan Ressman, Carmen Yearego

2024

QUALITY

Background: The pediatric critical care unit in a large medical center benchmarks a variety of quality metrics to ensure we are providing our patients with the best care. At the end of 2023, the unit rate of 0.58 was higher than the national benchmark rate of 0.33 for unplanned extubation (UE). Additionally, the unit was lower for failed extubation rate than the national benchmark which led to questioning if the unit was too conservative with when patients are deemed ready to extubate.

Objectives: The primary goal is to lower the rate of UE while maintaining a failed extubation rate …

Exploring Parent/Child Peri-Anesthesia Anxiety And Anesthesia Effects On Children, Ann Johnson, Alejandra Lozano, Pauline Chen Sep 2024

Exploring Parent/Child Peri-Anesthesia Anxiety And Anesthesia Effects On Children, Ann Johnson, Alejandra Lozano, Pauline Chen

2024

RESEARCH

Approximately four million children undergo procedures with anesthesia yearly. For children and parents, this can be anxiety-provoking. In extant literature, level and timing of pre-anesthesia anxiety in children are not adequately studied; associated factors are largely unknown in humans. Preparing for anesthesia and its effects may cause parental worry, and little is known about these effects on school-age children in the weeks following a procedure. The purpose of this study was to explore longitudinal peri-anesthesia factors of anxiety and behavior in children ages 7 through 12. Spanish and English-speaking dyads consented to four data collection points beginning at the …

Reducing The Burden Of Tracking Age Of Majority (Aom) Research Participant Consents, Beena Pappen, Lindsay Therrian, Bobby Lawrence

2024

QUALITY

Background
/="/">Reconsenting research participants when they reach Age of Majority (AOM) – age 18 in the state of Texas – is a vital responsibility of the pediatric research world. It requires tracking and planning for an activity that may not happen until months, years, or over a decade later. Not obtaining AOM consent may violate the rights of the research participant, as well as impede the ongoing collection and usage of their research data. At the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD) Clinical Research Office (CRO), a very manual process was being used to identify and notify …

Preventing Patient Deterioration By Creating A Reassessment And Escalation Process For The Ed Waiting Room, Virginia Elizondo, Amanda Caipo, Cory Carlos Sep 2024

Preventing Patient Deterioration By Creating A Reassessment And Escalation Process For The Ed Waiting Room, Virginia Elizondo, Amanda Caipo, Cory Carlos

2024

EBP

Practice Problem:

Long wait times in the emergency department (ED) waiting room significantly impact patient outcomes. Waiting times increase the risk of deterioration, the number of patients leaving without being seen (LWBS), and lead to dissatisfaction with care. 1,2,3 The urgency and significance of early recognition of abnormal vital signs and the appropriate responses cannot be overstated.3 Current ED practices lack a structured process for regular reassessment and escalation in the waiting room.

Literature/Evidence:

A comprehensive literature search was conducted, utilizing EBSCOhost, PubMed, and Ovid. The literature supports continuous reassessment to enhance safety and satisfaction in the waiting room. …

A Transformative Leadership Approach To Reducing Nursing Turnover In A Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, Deniro Brown, Lindsey Daigle, Brandi Brown, Julia Gerstmann, Emily Hernandez, Delaney O’Brien, Casey Conrad, Christina Whittington, Lindsey Wren, Gustavo Barbero

2024

INNOVATION

Introduction/Objective:
Retention of nurses in the pediatric cardiac intensive care unit (CICU) is essential for optimal patient outcomes, as nurse experience significantly impacts patient mortality and hospital-acquired conditions. In April 2022, our CICU faced high voluntary turnover among direct bedside nurses. Our immediate goal was to reduce this turnover, with a longer-term objective of improving overall nurse retention.

Methods:|
We established global and SMART aims by comparing organizational benchmarks for nurse turnover with unit-specific data from human resources. Co-managers and eight nurse team leaders conducted stay interviews with direct bedside nurses during the first half of 2022. These …
