Reply Brief For Plaintiff-Appellant Rocky Freeman, Madeline H. Meth
Faculty Scholarship
Because the Probation Office “dropped the ball,” JA199, false information remained in Rocky Freeman’s pre-sentence report for years. The Bureau of Prisons knew or should have known that it was relying on an inaccurate PSR. Yet, it failed to take any action to obtain correct information until Freeman discovered that BOP had been treating him as if he were a contract killer who had murdered two victims—effectively punishing him for acquitted conduct contrary to a court order. Instead of designating Freeman to the lowest-security-level facility for which he was qualified within 500 miles of his family, the United States sent …

Cryopreservation of semen, embryo transfer and artificial insemination in mammals are used, while in the avian technique of artificial insemination after semen cryopreservation is proved fruitful. By using this developed technique, the best fertility rate in chicken can be obtained by artificial insemination. In vitro cryopreservation can affect the motility, life of sperm, viability, fertilizing ability. From mammalian sperm cell, the avian sperm cell is different in shape, size having polyunsaturated fatty acid. The use of suitable cryo-protectants and semen extender can …

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the association of changes in peripartum blood pressure (BP) with risk for postpartum readmission for hypertension. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective cohort study of birthing individuals delivering from January 1, 2017, to March 1, 2020, in Louisiana. We identified patients with postpartum readmission for hypertension (readmission within 30 days of delivery) and compared BP and clinical and sociodemographic characteristics with those of patients who were not readmitted for hypertension. Patients were also grouped by their BP at both admission for delivery and 36 hours postpartum: systolic below 130 mm Hg and diastolic below 80 mm Hg, systolic …

Declines in pollinating insects have been linked to changes in land cover, affecting the availability of nesting sites and floral resources. Our study is the first analysis of changes in pollen load composition of 2 mining bees, Andrena barbilabris (Kirby) and Andrena flavipes (Panzer) (Hymenoptera: Andrenidae), at the same sites in central England, over 75 years. This provides a unique opportunity to remove spatial variation and review temporal changes in pollen diet within the context of landscape change. We analyzed modern-day pollen load composition for these species and compared it with historical data from the same sites. We then examined …

How functional relationships between policies influence policy design and policy change has received relatively limited attention within public policy scholarship despite the importance of policy coordination. This article contributes to addressing this gap by introducing the Anchoring Policies Perspective (APP), a framework for analysing interactions between policies in functional policy hierarchies. The APP examines how formal links between anchoring policies (AP) and functionally subordinate policies (SP) generate anchoring effects, whereby the provisions codified in APs generate alignment pressures that channel the design of SPs towards the norms and goals of the AP. In the article, we examine the analytical contribution …
