The neuromuscular junction (NMJ) is a well-established model for synapse development, structure, and function. Surrounding the NMJ is a narrow perijunctional zone (PJZ), enriched in muscle-specific voltage-gated sodium channels that prevent synaptic fatigue. Despite this role, the PJZ remains poorly characterized. To determine its molecular composition, we engineered mice to express the biotin ligase TurboID fused to the cell adhesion molecule neurofascin (Nfasc), and that localizes to the PJZ through ankyrin scaffolding proteins. Using proximity proteomics, we identify numerous PJZ-associated proteins, including Perilipin 4 (Plin4), that are highly enriched and clustered at the PJZ. We also perform proximity proteomics on …

The focus of BYU Library’s Faculty CV Project is to provide a simplified avenue for faculty members to add their scholarly work to our institutional repository, thus making it more accessible to a broader audience. Our project highlights effective strategies for collaborative communication across campus units, along with the use of practical project management tools to track project status. In addition, the Scholarly Publishing Unit provides training and support for managing the increasing demand for scholarly research by utilizing student employees, as well as faculty research assistants. This further supports our institution's goal of providing more experiential learning opportunities.

Background: Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is classically defined as a neuroglial tauopathy characterized by perivascular accumulation of hyperphosphorylated tau within neurons and astrocytes. Defining lesions localize to the depths of cortical sulci, implicating vascular and glial elements in early pathogenesis. This systematic scoping review evaluates the extent to which astrocytic dysfunction contributes to CTE pathogenesis, specifically whether astrocytic alterations precede or potentiate neuronal tauopathy.

Research has shown that explicitly teaching meta-pragmatic concepts, such as implicature, can have a positive impact on students’ ability to not only understand implicature but can also help them think about English in a different way, providing insight into native speakers’ use of the language. Included in the archive is a bibliography of literature published by LSUHSC-NO affiliated authors about the storm and its aftermath. Background: Our library started discussing the creation of an archive of materials in late 2023. We decided on a multifaceted approach. We would conduct oral histories with individuals who were either employed or attending classes in the fall of 2005. We would attempt to discover photographs and videos, and search for documents from that time.

Background: The negative impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) on child development is documented. The parent-child relationship protects against ACEs and improves healthy child development, playing a crucial role in preventing and mitigating ACEs by strengthening parental resilience. However, there is a gap in the literature on our understanding of parental resilience's impact on the parent-child relationship within the social-ecological model (SEM) (i.e., intra- and interpersonal, community, and societal levels). The expansion of the oil palm industry significantly shapes gender roles within Iban society, revealing a complex interplay between tradition and modernity. Contemporary research underscores the fundamentally egalitarian nature of Iban society, a crucial context for understanding evolving gender relations. While Iban women primarily manage domestic responsibilities, this occurs within a framework promoting equality, where all individuals are valued and afforded equal rights and opportunities. This thesis explores the conditions under which some contractual autonomous jurisdictions without historic or ethnic mandates endure when their parent state's politics change, and others are scrapped. It analyses the Dubai International Financial Centre and Honduras Zones for Employment and Economic Development as two legalised governance spaces within states. The research focuses on a key issue in special jurisdiction studies: statutory, contractual, court and regulatory autonomy can be created, but the parent state can limit and/or abolish autonomy when political conditions change. Bone and muscle are closely linked through functional interdependence. Training and regular exercise can improve and maintain optimal bone mass and strength. Here, we investigated the effects of exercise combined with soft versus hard diet (pellet) on long bones in mice. Four groups of male C57BL/6J mice (n = 5 per group) were studied: hard diet (pellet) with exercise, soft diet (powdered) with exercise, hard diet (pellet) without exercise, and soft diet (powdered) without exercise. Femur and tibia were analyzed using radiographic, micro-CT, and histomorphometric techniques. Objective: To explore job satisfaction, burnout and intent to stay in neonatal nurses in England and Wales. Methods: A cross-sectional online survey study using the McCloskey Mueller Satisfaction Scale (MMSS) to explore job satisfaction, the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI) to explore burnout and the Nurse Retention Index (NRI) to measure intent to stay. All neonatal nurses working in England and Wales were eligible to take part. Data were collected between February and September 2024. Results: A total of 1590 neonatal nurses completed the survey. Job satisfaction was neutral. Moderate work burnout was reported, with statistically significant differences in mean score …

Native Chinese Mandarin speakers face significant intelligibility challenges in English due to phonological transfers from their syllable-timed L1 to the stress-timed rhythm of English, a problem often overlooked in instructional settings. Possession of a fixed or growth mindset of intelligence has been shown to substantially influence student academic behaviors and achievement. Students who view intelligence as fixed are more likely to avoid academic challenges and learning opportunities, whereas students who view their intelligence as malleable are more likely to embrace challenges and persist through difficulty. This presentation is an overview of copyright litigation that has affected libraries. The session provides a hands-on look at specific cases and how they have affected and changed library work over time. A lawyer from the BYU Copyright Office provides commentary on each case and librarians discuss the impact of these cases on library policy. This helps to alleviate librarians' fear of copyright and legislation and provides guiding principles for the future.

This session was hosted by the Copyright Education Roundtable and presented at the Utah Library Association 2026 Annual Conference.
