Abstract

This paper examines the evolving power dynamics within the WTO since its creation and provides an in-depth analysis of how the changing power dynamics has impacted the multilateral institutions within the WTO. The analysis is divided into three sessions, each talking about a phase of power dynamics.The first phase explores how power imbalances between developed and developing countries have prompted the latter to form coalitions to counterbalance developed country dominance. The second phase stresses the growing multipolarity and multilateralism driven by the rising influence of developing countries, which is reflected by divergent trade interests within developing countries and the …

Biology Faculty Publications

Two phages belonging to Arthrobacter phage cluster AK were isolated from soil samples collected in Newburgh, NY in 2021. Both are lytic with a genome organization typical of siphoviruses except for two genes encoding minor tail proteins with pyocin-knob domains found early in the genome, before the terminase gene.

Public libraries, though increasingly overlooked, are pivotal spaces for Midwestern communities. Public libraries are fundamental institutions for those in their community and have consistently remained this way, due to the safety they provide as constant outlets for public life. Established in the late 1800s, the emerging public library system developed itself with the foundational goal of reforming society and addressing issues of “public vice” such as “drinking, gambling, and prostitution” (Goldstein 214). Pushing through aches and pain is a ritual for many. It is often overlooked that pain is a physical as well as mental phenomenon. It is well established that chronic pain increasingly affects performance the longer the duration and the higher the intensity. Performance in acute pain is less established for complex and simple span tasks. Previous research suggests only complex tasks are negatively affected by painful stimuli. This study seeks to confirm previous literature on complex span tasks and test if simple span tasks are affected by performance and pain intensities. 34 participants completed either the digit span test …

A Quality Improvement Project To Address Academic Dishonesty And Clinical Misconduct Perceptions Among Undergraduate Nursing Students, Angela D. Phillips

Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects

Background/Context:

Seventy-two percent of undergraduate nursing students engage in academic dishonesty, increasing the likelihood of clinical misconduct. Clinical misconduct may compromise patient care. Student perceptions of dishonest behaviors may influence their actions in both academic and clinical environments.

Problem/Purpose:

This quality improvement project evaluated student perceptions of dishonest behaviors before and after watching an educational video created to increase awareness of academic dishonesty.

Outcomes/Results:

Fifty-seven students completed The Nursing Student Perceptions of Dishonesty Scale before and after implementation of an educational intervention. Students perceived behaviors as more dishonest, evidenced by an increase of subscale mean scores ranging from 0.01-1.11.

Aroma Comparison Of Different Pawpaw Cultivars From The Kentucky State University Pawpaw Research Program, Lauren A. Miskimen

The aim of this study was to perform an analysis on the volatile profile differences in six pawpaw cultivars. There are over 30 pawpaw cultivars known to exist, and the flavor differences can be quite different for each; however, limited flavor analytical work has been done to understand which flavor compounds could be causing those differences. Recent work in Dr. Zyzak’s lab using gas chromatography-olfactometry (GC-O) has identified key aroma compounds in the KSU-Atwood^TM cultivar. However, little is known about the other cultivars.
