This paper is part of a clinical practice guideline update on the risk assessment, diagnostic imaging, and microbiological evaluation of complicated intra-abdominal infections in adults, children, and pregnant people, developed by the Infectious Diseases Society of America. In this paper, the panel provides recommendations for obtaining cultures of intra-abdominal fluid in patients with known or suspected intra-abdominal infection. The panel's recommendations are based on evidence derived from systematic literature reviews and adhere to a standardized methodology for rating the certainty of evidence and strength of recommendation according to the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) approach.

A hallmark of addiction is the ability of drugs of abuse to trigger relapse after periods of prolonged abstinence. Here, we describe an epigenetic mechanism whereby chronic cocaine exposure causes lasting chromatin and downstream transcriptional modifications in the nucleus accumbens (NAc), a critical brain region controlling motivation. We link prolonged withdrawal from cocaine to the depletion of the histone variant H2A.Z, coupled with increased genome accessibility and latent priming of gene transcription, in D1 dopamine receptor-expressing medium spiny neurons (D1 MSNs) that relate to aberrant gene expression upon drug relapse. Foveal and peripheral vision are two distinct modes of visual processing essential for navigating the world. However, it remains unclear if they engage different neural mechanisms and circuits within the visual attentional system. Here, we trained macaques to perform a free-gaze visual search task using natural face and object stimuli and recorded a large number of 14588 visually responsive units from a broadly distributed network of brain regions involved in visual attentional processing. IMPORTANCE: In 2021, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services designated a new category of dual-eligible special needs plans (D-SNPs) with exclusively aligned enrollment (receive Medicare and Medicaid benefits through the same plan or affiliated plans within the same organization).

OBJECTIVE: To assess the availability of and enrollment in D-SNPs with exclusively aligned enrollment and to compare the characteristics of beneficiaries enrolled in D-SNPs with exclusively aligned enrollment available vs beneficiaries without such enrollment available.

OBJECTIVES: We hypothesized that the frequency (in Hertz) of generalized spike-waves (GSWs) in patients with idiopathic generalized epilepsy (IGE) has associations with the syndromic diagnosis as well as with the prognosis of patients (their response to medical treatment). METHODS: This was a retrospective study of a prospectively developed database. All patients with a diagnosis of IGE were studied at the epilepsy center at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Shiraz, Iran, from 2008 until 2022. Patients were classified into four IGE syndromes: childhood absence epilepsy; juvenile absence epilepsy; juvenile myoclonic epilepsy; and generalized tonic-clonic seizures alone. With a growing demand for smart utility networks, flexibility, manageability and reliability of deployments is highly desirable. Several vendors are moving towards battery operated sensors or metering devices that can provide flexibility and reduced hardware cost for smart utility networks. As the reliability of these endpoints depend on battery life, novel mechanisms are proposed herein that provides for optimizing and reducing battery consumption of battery-operated endpoints by considering real time parameters, such as signal strength for the communication link to a parent node and polling schedules of an endpoint management server.

Conventional techniques of user feedback evaluation focus on post-hoc analysis of collected feedback instead of target feedback collection. Thus, conventional techniques fail to capture insightful and actionable feedback because they lack the ability to ask a user nuanced follow-up questions while the user is providing feedback. Moreover, conventional techniques do not consider contextual information such as a user’s history of giving feedback. The present disclosure discloses an improved system and method for GenAI/LLM enabled payload generator for feature enrichment, selection and optimization. The present disclosure discloses a pipeline to apply fine-tuned large language model (LLM) to help feature simulators to test system performance and robustness. These templates may be incorporated into a multithreaded emulator to produce payloads that encompass a wide range of feature distributions, including high-volume and outlier cases. Post-Soviet National Memory In Kazakhstan, Iona Volynets

Chronos

When the Soviet Union collapsed and was replaced by fifteen independent republics, each country began to cultivate a unique perspective on their national history, especially the Soviet period. However, Western study of post-Soviet national memory is largely limited to a focus on Russia and the Baltics states. Less studied is the way in which the Caucasian and Central Asian states have framed their national histories vis-a-vis the USSR. This paper takes Kazakhstan as a case study and shows how this country has processed, displayed, and interpreted Soviet history in its museums.
