From Proficiency To Pedagogy: A Mixed-Methods Study Of In-Service Teachers’ Tpack-Genai And The Mediating Role Of Pedagogical Knowledge, Laila Mohebi, Areej Elsayary

All Works

This study investigated in-service teachers' Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge for Generative Artificial Intelligence (TPACK-GenAI) and examined the factors influencing their integration of generative AI in classroom practice. Using an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design, data were collected from 325 in-service teachers across 26 countries, followed by in-depth interviews with seven teachers. Quantitative results revealed that Technological Knowledge (TK), Pedagogical Knowledge (PK), and Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) were significantly associated with teachers' overall TPACK-GenAI. Crucially, mediation analysis confirmed that Technological Pedagogical Knowledge (TPK) serves as the indirect association through which TK is related to overall TPACK-GenAI competence. Qualitative findings enriched this result, …

The transition to a low-carbon economy, central to achieving Paris Agreement targets and Sustainable Development Goal 13 (Climate Action), requires unprecedented public and private investment. A significant climate financing gap persists, however, exacerbated by corporate practices that erode the public revenue base. This paper investigates a critical, yet often overlooked, component of corporate responsibility: tax avoidance. We examine the impact of firm-level sustainable development goal (SDG) disclosure on corporate tax avoidance using an international sample of 7213 firms operating in 81 countries over the period 2019–2023. Our analysis reveals a robust inverse relationship between SDG disclosure and corporate tax avoidance, …

How To Save The Take-Home Essay With Oral Assessments, Matthew Hammerton, Jacqueline Ho Jun 2026

How To Save The Take-Home Essay With Oral Assessments, Matthew Hammerton, Jacqueline Ho

Research Collection School of Social Sciences

In a commentary, the authors opined that pairing take-home essays with oral assessments is a more effective response to AI than policing its use. Students who cannot adequately explain their work can be marked down, reducing incentives to rely on AI. They noted that oral exams help preserve key elements of university education – intellectual effort, ownership, and human relationships – while allowing take-home essays to remain relevant in an AI-driven landscape that demands greater emphasis on understanding, responsibility, and dialogue.

Comparative Analysis Of Fixed Versus Variable Rate Of Regional Citrate Anticoagulation In Critically Ill Ecmo Patients On Continuous Kidney Replacement Therapy, Lisa Hall Zimmerman, Alexander Chen, Felcia Ivascu, Anthony Iacco, Jimmi Mangla, Wesley Barnes, Sean Masters

Conference Presentation Abstracts

Background: Continuous kidney replacement therapy (CKRT) is the preferred dialysis modality for critically ill patients with hemodynamic instability. Anticoagulation is often necessary to deliver CKRT effectively and prolong the circuit lifespan. The Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) clinical practice guideline for acute kidney injury 2012 recommends regional citrate administration during CKRT for patients without contraindications to prevent filter clotting. Citrate works by chelating calcium and interfering with the activation of the coagulation cascade. This study evaluated effectiveness and safety of fixed (FIX) versus variable citrate rate (VAR) in critically ill patients receiving CKRT. Methods: This single-center, retrospective study evaluated …

Abington Jefferson Health Papers

The Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) report and national and international guidelines have shifted away from short-acting beta2-agonist (SABA)-only bronchodilators as first-line asthma rescue therapy, recognizing that both bronchoconstriction and inflammation underlie the increase in symptoms preceding an exacerbation. Instead, the GINA Committee supports strategies to reduce inflammation, such as anti-inflammatory reliever (AIR) therapy (as-needed, low-dose inhaled corticosteroid [ICS]–formoterol or SABA–ICS for symptom relief) and single maintenance and reliever therapy (SMART) or maintenance and reliever therapy (MART; i.e., ICS–formoterol used as both maintenance and as-needed rescue therapy). This narrative review discusses the rationale behind the move toward AIR and SMART …

Rf Fingerprinting: Neural Networks For Device Identification, Pranav Chainani, Maxwell Gertner, Genevieve Patmore

Electrical and Computer Engineering Senior Theses

Conventional cybersecurity protocols authenticate devices using digital credentials that can be stolen, copied, or extracted from compromised hardware. Radio frequency (RF) fingerprinting offers a complementary physical-layer authentication mechanism that binds device identity to the unforgeable manufacturing variations present in every transmitter’s analog hardware. This thesis explores the application of convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to RF fingerprinting, focusing on the identification of nominally identical IoT transmitters from raw I/Q samples of the LoRa preamble’s turn-on transient.

We developed an end-to-end system consisting of a modular data collection testbench using a USRP B210 software-defined radio, a 1D CNN trained directly on raw …

A Case Series Of Hypopigmented Confluent And Reticulated Papillomatosis, Fahad Siddiqui, Ann Church, Rajiv Nathoo

GME Publications

Confluent and reticulated papillomatosis (CARP) is a rare keratinization disorder typically presenting as hyperpigmented, scaly papules that coalesce into reticulated plaques on the trunk of adolescents and young adults. Hypopigmented variants have only rarely been reported and are frequently misdiagnosed as tinea versicolor, resulting in delayed diagnosis and unnecessary antifungal therapy. We describe 2 young adults with biopsy-confirmed hypopigmented CARP who initially received multiple courses of oral and topical antifungal agents with minimal to no benefit. Both patients demonstrated widespread hypopigmented, scaly, coalescing plaques. Following histopathologic confirmation, antifungal treatments were discontinued, and oral minocycline was initiated, leading to clinical improvement. …

Gobbling Activity And Use Of Structural Habitat At Nest Sites By Wild Turkeys (Meleagris Gallopavo) In Western Nebraska, Robyn M. Dausener

School of Natural Resources: Dissertations, Theses, and Student Research

Wild turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) populations in Nebraska have declined substantially in recent years. Understanding gobbling chronology and its environmental drivers may inform spring hunting season structure and management actions. I used autonomous recording units (ARUs) in two ecologically distinct regions of Nebraska, the northwestern (NW) Pine Ridge landscape, and the southwestern (SW) agricultural landscape, to quantify gobbling activity from 2023-2025. I paired gobbling data with nesting chronology, cumulative daily hunting pressure, weather conditions, and moon phase using Bayesian generalized additive mixed models. Gobbling peaked during mid-to-late April in both regions, preceding peak nest initiation and incubation, with no …

Here, There, And Absent From The Film: Carving Out A Protection For Trailers In California’S Anti-Slapp Statute, Zach Cogan

Vanderbilt Journal of Entertainment & Technology Law

California’s anti-SLAPP statute is designed to encourage free speech and to prevent litigation that chills participation in public discourse, including the creation and promotion of media. It is a standard industry practice for filmmakers to use trailers to promote their films before the final cut and to gauge the success of certain cinematic elements—such as characters, plot points, and overall tone—so the necessary adjustments can be made before the film is released to audiences. Subjecting studios and filmmakers to litigation for adjusting these relatively minor elements that were present in the trailers will chill this beneficial and standard industry practice. …

A Copula-Based Framework For Multivariate Count Time Series With Mixed Marginal Distributions, Dimuthu Fernando, Yuxin Wen, Wimarsha Jayanetti

Engineering Faculty Articles and Research

We developed a class of multivariate integer-valued time series models using copula theory. Each count time series is modeled as a Markov chain, with serial dependence characterized through copula-based transition probabilities for Poisson and negative binomial marginals. Cross-sectional dependence is modeled via a trivariate Gaussian or a “t-copula”, allowing for both positive and negative correlations and providing a flexible dependence structure. Model parameters are estimated using likelihood-based inference, where the trivariate Gaussian or t-copula integrals are evaluated through standard randomized Monte Carlo methods. Simulation results, along with an analysis of annual counts of major hurricanes (Category 3+) across the North …
