This study investigates how traumatic brain injury (TBI) alters cortical aging by comparing cortical thickness (CT) and surface area (SA) in 34 brain regions between TBI survivors and age-matched controls. Using a cross-sectional retrospective design, 105 Vietnam Veterans (32 with moderate-to-severe TBI, 73 controls) were analyzed via surface-based morphometry. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) reduced dimensionality, and Multivariate Analysis of Covariance tested group differences while controlling for age, education, depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and intracranial volume. Our paper studies the option market reactions to judicial decisions in the United States Supreme Court (SCOTUS) relating to cases where at least one party involved is a public firm. Prior research finds the stock market is unable to anticipate SCOTUS's actions and registers a significant negative stock market reaction to the grant of certiorari (acceptance of a petition to review a lower court's decision) for respondents and, surprisingly, for petitioners as well. Anti-melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5 (MDA-5) dermatomyositis is an uncommon condition that is frequently complicated by rapidly progressive interstitial lung disease (RP-ILD), resulting in a poor prognosis. Due to its aggressive course, management is often challenging and requires timely interventions to improve outcomes. This case of a female patient with anti-MDA-5-positive DM and RP-ILD aims to document this unique and uncommon condition, its aggressive clinical course, associated complications, diagnostic challenges, and management considerations.
