This thesis extends the scope of IMO maritime decarbonization studies by incorporating cradle-to-grave approaches. This study advocates for an approach incorporating cradle-to-grave resource efficiency and carbon neutrality, assessing cumulative energy demand and net freshwater withdrawal as key sustainability metrics. The thesis specifically addresses the question of the sustainability of decarbonization strategies centred on substituting fossil fuels with synthetic alternatives and offsetting the remaining carbon footprint. Pemilu merupakan wujud pelaksanaan kedaulatan rakyat di Indonesia yang menganut sistem presidensial dan multipartai. Namun, banyaknya partai memicu instabilitas koalisi dan melemahkan dukungan terhadap presiden. Untuk mengatasi hal ini diterapkan ambang batas parlemen (Parliamentary Threshold). Putusan MK No. 116/PUU-XXI/2023 menyatakan ambang batas 4% konstitusional untuk Pemilu 2024, namun inkonstitusional untuk Pemilu selanjutnya. Child protection, particularly in preventing and addressing cases of international child abduction, is an obligation of all states. This phenomenon frequently occurs in Indonesia when a foreign-national parent, following divorce, unilaterally takes their biological child abroad in violation of court-granted custody, guardianship, and/or access rights of the other parent. Currently, Indonesia lacks adequate legal provisions to prevent and resolve cases of international child abduction. In the years since this Court’s decision in Seila Law LLC v. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, 591 U.S. 197 (2020), legal historians—including originalists—have unearthed a rich body of evidence challenging the conventional wisdom concerning the scope of the President’s removal powers at the Founding. Scholars have debated the reach of the President’s power to remove government officers for over one hundred years. This old fight is now suddenly urgent as President Trump asserts far-reaching powers to control the federal bureaucracy and the Supreme Court transforms Unitary Executive Theory into caselaw. Written as part of a keynote address for the 20th Annual Asian Law and Economics Conference, these remarks reflect on the way lawyers, judges, and law professors without economic training view and use law and economic models. After revisiting notably successes of classic results from the tort model – results that have penetrated the legal profession – it turns to the translation of more recent models of lawyer argumentation and precedent. Every normative proposal in the criminal legal literature can be held to the minimalist standard—audited, so to speak, to account for the policy author’s minimalist claims. This report addresses the sensitivity and reliability of the sustainability rating systems by comparing each category’s verified scores with its respective submitted scores to evaluate how points are awarded for infrastructure projects, examine which categories present the most challenges for verification, and identify the best category for verification in the sustainability rating system. The authors conducted three analyses using credit score data obtained from fourteen actual civil infrastructure projects certified under Envision. Diagnosing Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) remains challenging, as it often relies on subjective evaluations and traditional methods using fMRI data. This paper proposes an innovative multi-modal framework that leverages spatiotemporal graph transformers to assess ASD severity using skeletal and optical flow data from the MMASD dataset. Our approach captures movement synchronization between children with ASD and therapists during play therapy interventions. The framework integrates a spatial encoder, a temporal transformer, and an I3D network for comprehensive motion analysis. Most sensors and controllers are discrete-time devices, which may have a detrimental impact on the performance of continuous-time control laws, even leading to unstable behaviors. This paper proposes a sampled-data passivity-based control approach that solves the regulation problem for discrete-time underactuated mechanical systems. Moreover, in contrast to other discrete-time controllers for these systems, the proposed control design method does not require the solution of partial differential equations. To simulate both airflow and air pressure required for speech production, we developed a nonlinear state-space model of airflow in the human speech apparatus. We modeled the lungs as a mechanical, force-driven piston pump venting into a simplified larynx model, represented as a valve with time-varying resistance to airflow. The pump incorporates the effects of elasticity, viscosity, friction, and inertia, as well as differential air pressure. To maintain a constant target airflow through the larynx, a proportional-derivative (PD) controller applies force and regulates the piston. The model was implemented in MATLAB. This thesis investigates different approaches for detecting alcohol intoxication in drivers by analysing facial video data. Tackling this issue necessitates the creation of a novel dataset to overcome the limitations of existing datasets. The dataset constructed in this study is the first to include RGB video recordings of individual faces at varying levels of alcohol intoxication during simulated driving, featuring 60 participants with BAC levels ranging from 0 to 0.165 g/100ml. The constructed dataset not only supports this thesis, but also offers the broader scientific community a valuable resource for further study and development.

Investigation Of Under-Frequency Load Shedding Prevention Of Isolated Medium-Sized Power Systems Using Energy Storage, Dilan Indoopa Manamperi

Due to the rapid uptake of distributed photovoltaic generation, the visible load to transmission operators in distribution feeders is reducing. Traditional load-shedding schemes are facing challenges due to this low-load situation. The required amount of load reduction cannot be achieved with the same load-shedding scheme as before. In some situations, with reverse power flows, load shedding can further increase the generation reduction. On the other hand, increased Rate of Change of Frequency (RoCoF) due to low inertia can result in false activation of under-frequency load shedding (UFLS) relays. These challenges can cause a serious problem with the power system security. …
