Sea level is an essential oceanographic parameter in hydrographic surveying that is always necessary for the realization of Chart Datum (CD). The International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) defines sea levels as those expected to occur under typical meteorological conditions, regardless of any possible combination of astronomical conditions. Traditional fragile watermarking schemes often struggle to balance tamper detection accuracy, image quality, and processing speed. This paper presents a novel adaptive fragile watermarking scheme that leverages Canny-edge detection to dynamically adjust watermark embedding based on image features. The proposed approach classifies image regions into smooth and dense areas. Larger 4×4 blocks are employed in smooth regions, prioritizing visual quality and processing speed, while smaller 2×2 blocks are used in edge and dense regions to enhance tamper detection accuracy. Manufacturers aim to produce high-quality, cost-effective products through advanced material forming techniques. This study utilized ABAQUS® software to present and evaluate a finite element model for the incremental forming process of a functionally graded aluminum-copper material (Al-Cu FGM). The developed model incorporated the Lagrangian dynamic framework and the Johnson-Cook constitutive equation. The model enabled accurate estimation of forces, stress, and strain distributions during the incremental forming process of an Al-Cu FGM. The results demonstrated that the algorithm effectively predicted these critical characteristics, which are significant for optimizing manufacturing processes. In this research, a mathematical model for predicting the consumed length and crimp ratio of pile warp yarns in woven terry towel fabrics was developed. The mathematical formulas interrelate the construction parameters of the woven terry fabric such as weave structure, weft count, weft density, counts of pile and ground warp yarns and loop length with the consumed length and crimp ratio of pile warp yarns. Essay 1 examines whether directors’ prior negative professional experiences— such as bankruptcies, stock price crashes, bond downgrades, and cash flow shocks— affect firm risk, financial policies, and performance. Using a panel of 48,288 board members across 5,324 U.S. industrial firms from 1984 to 2023, I construct a composite distress measure based on directors’ pre-board employment histories. Firms with a higher proportion of distress-experienced directors exhibit significantly lower return volatility, more conservative financial policies—including lower leverage, higher cash holdings, and reduced dividends—and greater policy persistence. These effects are strongest among independent directors and those chairing advisory committees. Causal evidence is supported …

Doctoral-granting institutions invest time and resources to support the success of their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students. Despite these efforts, doctoral attrition rates remain high. One measure used to understand doctoral attrition and completion rates is time-to-degree (TTD). In 2020, the median TTD from the start of graduate school increased to 7.5 years (National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics [NCSES], 2020b), highlighting the need for continued analysis of factors affecting TTD. Can Servant Leadership Reinvigorate Communities Of Faith, Jonathan Owens

This study examined the relationship between servant leadership characteristics and church growth in Episcopal congregations. Using quantitative analysis, the research assessed whether leadership characteristics—such as emotional healing, creating value for the community, conceptual skills, empowering followers, helping followers succeed, putting followers first, and behaving ethically—were significant predictors of numerical growth. Data were collected from 40 churches (20 growing, 20 declining), with leadership perceptions measured through a validated servant leadership instrument.

The findings indicate that while growing churches exhibited slightly higher mean scores across several servant leadership characteristics, none of the differences were statistically significant. Logistic regression analysis further demonstrated that …

Due to the minority status non-white students face in higher education, they are susceptible to social identity threat (Steele & Aronson, 1996), which may lead to psychological distress. However, social support, particularly from in-groups, offsets related distress consequences, e.g., self-esteem, anxiety, and depression (Haslam et al., 2021). This study investigates social support, through collective racial socialization, as a buffer for social identity threats to minority college students. This dissertation investigates graduation rates among minority doctoral students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields, comparing results at public and private universities through the lens of elite theory. This study examines whether faultlines within top management teams (TMT) influence financial reporting quality (FRQ). Faultlines reflect hypothetical divisions within a group based on team members’ unique demographic characteristics and experiences. Using a large sample of U.S. firms from 2003 to 2020, I construct a faultline measure based on executive gender, age, tenure, education, and board experience. I test whether faultlines negatively associate with FRQ, proxied by measures of restatements and accruals quality. The present study examined whether exclusive breastfeeding duration and perceived breastfeeding quality predict maternal sensitivity across emotionally challenging versus normative caregiving contexts in infancy. Twenty-four mother–infant dyads participated in three laboratory visits during which maternal sensitivity was assessed across interaction conditions. It was hypothesized that (1) longer breastfeeding duration would be associated with greater sensitivity during fear-inducing contexts, (2) breastfeeding duration and quality would interact to predict sensitivity, and (3) sensitivity would be higher during fear-inducing situations. The current study evaluated the psychometric properties of the newly developed Multi-Ethnic Acculturation Scale (MAS), a multidimensional instrument designed to assess behavioral and cognitive aspects of cultural adaptation among Hispanic/Latino individuals in the United States. A sample of 208 adults from diverse Hispanic backgrounds completed the MAS alongside two validated acculturation measures: the Short Acculturation Scale for Hispanics and the Vancouver Index of Acculturation. Exploratory factor analyses revealed a partially distinct but moderately correlated factor structure for both American and Latino cultural orientation subscales, supporting a bidimensional conceptualization of acculturation. For embodied agents, such as robots, tracking objects in their surroundings through visual observation is essential — a task, referred to as Visual Object Tracking (VOT). For instance, during a rearrangement task, a robot may need to track objects, as part of the scene change understanding process, to accurately restore them to their original states. Classic Multiple Object Tracking (MOT) datasets typically focus on tracking moving, single-class object instances in a video from a fixed viewpoint, limiting their applicability to embodied AI tasks. The SAOM dataset is created for the evaluation of the whole-object semantic segmentation in embodied AI indoor environments. The SAOM dataset is tailored for segmentation in dynamic embodied environments, focusing on interactable objects. It includes 54 object classes, all of which are either `pickupable’, `openable’, or `receptacles`. Unlike static-object datasets, the objects in SAOM can undergo transformations, such as being opened, closed, or moved.

Monitoring maritime traffic is essential for ensuring the safety of vessels, safeguarding transported goods or persons, and preventing illicit or hazardous activity at sea. Increasingly, researchers have explored data-driven approaches to model expected vessel behaviour and detect deviations or anomalies. These anomalies—such as course deviations, unauthorised area entries, or unexpected operational patterns—can indicate emergencies, regulatory breaches, or unlawful intent. Data broadcast by vessels provides a valuable resource for such analyses; however, the inherent complexity and context-dependency of maritime behaviour present persistent modelling challenges.
