Biopolymers derived from biological sources are safe, abundant, eco-friendly, and economical substitutes for synthetic polymers. However, intrinsic properties of biopolymer films, such as abundant hydrophilic groups, weak mechanical properties, low resistance to heat, and poor barrier properties, need to be addressed to restrict them from being used before employing them for food packaging applications. Hydrophobic modification of biopolymers is crucial to enhance their suitability for food packaging applications. Various approaches, including nanocomposites, essential oil incorporation, and chemical modifications have been investigated to address the limitations of biopolymer packaging materials. Lignocellulosic biomass (LCB) is a promising feedstock for the sustainable production of biofuels and other biobased products, owing to its abundance, low cost, and minimal competition with food crops for resources. It is mainly composed of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, forming a complex biomass matrix. Its utilization is hindered by its complex structure and pretreatment is required to break down the chemical resistance caused by the strong association between the cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin structures. This study developed an environmentally friendly, antimicrobial active food packaging material to extend the shelf life of cheese. Poly(lactic acid) and poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) composite films were incorporated with 1%, 3%, 7%, and 10% (w/w) eucalyptus oil and 0.2% (w/w) titanium dioxide. The physicochemical properties, including optical and mechanical characteristics, surface hydrophobicity, and chemical composition, were evaluated. The films' antimicrobial efficacy against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, biofilm inhibition, and cheese preservation performance were assessed. Results indicated that adding eucalyptus oil reduced tensile strength by 35.6%, while enhancing UV-light barrier properties and increasing yellowness. Notably, biofilm inhibition improved from 21% …

As awareness of environmental issues deepens and the demand for sustainability grows among societies, businesses, and consumers, minimizing the environmental impact of food packaging has become increasingly important. Bioplastics offer a promising solution due to their use of renewable resources (such as plants), their biodegradability, and their ability to retain the protective properties of traditional plastics. This review discusses recent advancements and trends in sustainable food packaging, emphasizing the role of bioplastics. Background/Objectives: Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT, LLAMA, and Mistral are widely used for automating tasks such as content creation and data analysis. However, due to their training on publicly available internet data, they may inherit social biases. We aimed to investigate the social biases (i.e., ethnic, gender, and disability biases) in these models and evaluate how different model versions handle them. Methods: We instruction-tuned popular models (like Mistral, LLAMA, and Gemma), and for this we curated a dataset constructed by collecting and modifying diverse data from various public datasets. Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam.) is one of the undervalued fruits that is rich in many nutrients not only in the edible parts but also in generated waste such as the seed and peel. Seeds of jackfruit are usually considered as waste (15 %) but are rich in protein, starch as well as various bioactive compounds. Among the bioactive components, phenolics like catechin, ferulic acid, epicatechin, rutin, and gallic acid, are a few which possess many health-promoting properties. Prior research has documented the effects of traditional masculine ideologies (TMI) on men’s restrictive emotionality (Levant, 2011), labeled as normative male alexithymia (Levant et al., 2006). For men who become fathers, research has noted how the rejection of TMI increases fathers’ nurturing role beliefs and the frequency that children turn to their fathers for emotional support, but these findings do not outline the quality of fathers’ emotional support (Petts al., 2018; Shafer et al., 2019). The Keys To The Kingdom: The Unexpectedly Unsettled Definitions Of Security And Sale And The Overruling Of Chevron, Joel Seligman

This article explores two important unresolved questions for the Federal Securities regulation under the Securities Act of 1933 and the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. The definition of security and the definition of sale were increasingly contested and potentially unstable before the United States Supreme Court decision in Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo overruled the Chevron doctrine.
