This study explores the underlying themes and trends embedded in the diplomatic discourses of Pakistan and Russia by employing the KeyATM approach. It also identifies and compares the linguistic strategies employed to (re)shape bilateral ties between these states. The corpus of the study comprises press releases taken from the official websites of Pakistan and Russia from 2009 to 2024. The findings reveal how discourse patterns mirror geopolitical shifts, reflecting mutual interests and shared challenges while negotiating historical legacies. Navigating Queer Identities In Rural Communities: The Role Of Social Support In Shaping Lgbq+ Adolescents’ Identity Development, Michaela Elaine Pierson

Adolescents who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or queer (LGBQ+) develop their identities within complex social contexts. In rural settings, limited access to affirming resources and greater exposure to stigma may further shape identity development. Guided by social ecological and minority stress theories, this study examined whether perceived family and friend support predict identity affirmation and internalized homonegativity among rural LGBQ+ adolescents. Participants included 53 adolescents ages 13 to 18 drawn from a larger dataset. Group differences across demographic variables were examined, and regression analyses were used to evaluate the predictive role of family and friend support. No significant group …

This complication is particularly prevalent among individuals with iron overload and protein C and S deficiencies. The presence of a live insect as nasal foreign bodies is an unusual occurrence that can cause significant discomfort. This report describes the case of a cockroach lodged in the right nasal cavity of an otherwise healthy adult female that was successfully removed endoscopically. Hypoxia and anoxia suppress cell proliferation due to an increase in replication stress and activation of DNA damage checkpoints. Embryos of the annual killifish Austrofundulus limnaeus tolerate prolonged anoxia, indicating improved genomic stability under oxygen starvation. We investigated the cell cycle regulation of the anoxia tolerant killifish embryonic cell line PSU-AL-WS40NE during anoxia. Live-cell imaging confirms continued proliferation of WS40NE cells for the first 24 h of anoxia with minimal cell death. Fluorescence imaging shows that cells accumulate in G1 after the first day in anoxia with a rapid entry into S phase upon reoxygenation. Pharmacological inhibition shows a reliance …

This scoping review examines advances in low-carbon concrete production, automated construction methods, their integration and practical applications. Background: Attendance in substance-use-disorder group-treatment is challenging with only 32% of patients attending at least one session (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and Center for Behavioral Health Statistics and Quality. Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS): 2023 admissions to and discharges from substance use treatment services reported by single state agencies, Bethesda, 2025). BACKGROUND

Sepsis is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in critically ill children, yet heterogeneous immune responses complicate the development of targeted therapies and the host immune factors driving sepsis pathobiology remain unclear.

METHODS

We integrated deep immune phenotyping, plasma proteomics, single-cell transcriptomics, and phosphoflow cytometry in a prospective cohort of 88 critically ill children to elucidate the mechanisms underlying immune heterogeneity.

RESULTS

Unsupervised clustering of plasma cytokines identified 3 immunologic subgroups, including a high-severity group (“Group C”) characterized by hypercytokinemia driven by IL-6 and IFN-γ. Group C exhibited distinct alterations in immune cell frequency and activation, with a …

Proteogenomic analyses have identified an association between LIG1 (DNA Ligase I) loss and chemotherapy resistance in a subset of triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) enriched for TP53 mutations. Here, we demonstrate that co-occurrence of TP53 mutations and LIG1 loss is associated with upregulated DDR activity, including homologous recombination, likely contributing to reduced platinum sensitivity. Unbiased genetic and monotherapy drug screens identified PARP inhibitors (PARPi) as a potential treatment for LIG1-depleted tumors; however, the increase in sensitivity was modest and lower than that observed in TNBC models with homologous recombination deficiency. Background & aims: Non-selective beta-blockers (NSBBs) are widely used to prevent decompensation in cirrhosis. Guidelines recommend discontinuing NSBBs in patients with cirrhosis and acute kidney injury (AKI), although this recommendation is based largely on expert opinion and limited evidence. We evaluated the impact of NSBB use on AKI outcomes in patients with cirrhosis.

Methods: This multicenter study enrolled patients hospitalized for decompensated cirrhosis and AKI. Data on NSBB treatment, including type, dose, and continuation, discontinuation, or tapering, were collected. BACKGROUND: Return-to-play (RTP) decisions for professional athletes with arrhythmias are challenging, particularly when the diagnosis is uncertain.

CASE SUMMARY: A 33-year-old professional football player presented for RTP evaluation of premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) and atypical chest pain. Work-up was significant for fragmented R waves and PVCs on electrocardiogram as well as late gadolinium enhancement on cardiac magnetic resonance imaging. Positron emission tomography scan was normal. These findings suggested possible subacute myocarditis. He elected to rest for 2 to 3 months and was treated with guideline-directed medical therapy. Origami-inspired structures are attracting considerable attention in engineering owing to their ability to facilitate intricate deformations and deployable configurations. However, accurately simulating their mechanical behaviour under realistic conditions involving permanent deformations and energy dissipation remains a significant challenge. In this study, we present an elasto-plastic formulation based on the nonlinear bar-and-hinge model for non-rigid origami simulation. We integrate rate-independent elasto-plastic constitutive models for both the hinges and the bars, enabling tunable representation of both elastic and plastic deformations in origami structures.
