Navigating Wastewater: Minnesota Mining Wastewater Permit Challenges And Evolving Compliance Standards, Madelaine Adamich Jan 2025

Navigating Wastewater: Minnesota Mining Wastewater Permit Challenges And Evolving Compliance Standards, Madelaine Adamich

Journal of Earth and Life Science

February of 2021 marked the beginning of Minnesota clearly establishing that groundwater qualifies as a Class 1 water in a legal battle involving United States Steel, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, WaterLegacy, Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, the Minnesota Court of Appeals, and eventually the Minnesota Supreme Court (MNSC). Minnesota has a water classification system, as required by the federal Clean Water Act, with 7 classes of use. Class 1 waters are waters used for domestic consumption (MPCA 4, n.d.). According to Minnesota Statute § 7050.0220, the acceptable level for sulfate is 250 mg/L in Class 1 …

Aquatic Invertebrate Populations In Roadside Wetlands In Relation To Water Characteristics, Ellen P. Isakson Jan 2025

Aquatic Invertebrate Populations In Roadside Wetlands In Relation To Water Characteristics, Ellen P. Isakson

Journal of Earth and Life Science

The continual habitat destruction and draining of wetland systems makes the need to understand the ecology of roadside wetlands all the more necessary. Roadside wetlands provide valuable habitat to countless aquatic invertebrates, which can provide insight into the health of the wetland system due to their diversity. The objective of this study was to analyze the populations of aquatic invertebrates in roadside wetlands in relation to water characteristics such as pH, salinity, conductivity, water depth and temperature, and dissolved oxygen. This was done by collecting samples of invertebrate populations from roadside wetlands, in addition to data on water quality characteristics …

Growing Degree Days Compared To Growth Of Walleye And Sauger From Different Systems, Ben Hoover Jan 2025

Growing Degree Days Compared To Growth Of Walleye And Sauger From Different Systems, Ben Hoover

Journal of Earth and Life Science

Walleye Sander vitreus and Sauger Sander canadensis exist in most river and lake systems across the state of Minnesota and have historically been a highly sought-after species. Variable water temperatures play a significant role in the growth of cold-blooded organisms such as walleye and sauger. Therefore, the objective of this study is to test for a relationship between growing degree days (GDD) and the growth of walleye and sauger from Lake Pepin, Leech Lake, and Lake of the Woods. Data for growth and age was readily available and was sourced from MN DNR lake survey database from 2006 to 2023. …

Facilitating Cbt Delivery With Graphic Design: Enhancing Worksheets For Practitioners And Patients, Josephine Cassandra Widjaja, Sarah Aurelia Saragih, Daniel Maynard Samosir

Papers from the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology Conferences

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) remains one of the most empirically supported psychological treatments, yet its practical delivery often depends on materials that can feel cognitively overwhelming due to text-heavy design, poor adherence, and high cognitive load. These challenges impede learning and engagement for patients, as well as regulating session structure for novice practitioners. This study explores how graphic design principles can enhance CBT delivery through a visual prompt card deck that improves comprehension, usability, and collaboration for both practitioners and clients for a more intuitive therapeutic process. A mixed-methods pilot was conducted with two novice practitioners who used a 44-card …

Can Secure Base Script Knowledge Predict Changes In Perceptions Of Conflict Resolution Discussions In Engaged Couples Over Time?, Sarah Finkelstein Jan 2025

Can Secure Base Script Knowledge Predict Changes In Perceptions Of Conflict Resolution Discussions In Engaged Couples Over Time?, Sarah Finkelstein

Selected Full Text Dissertations, 2011-

According to attachment theory, attachment representations shape the way in which individuals obtain and organize social information. One facet of social information processing that has been studied in relation to attachment representations is memory reconstruction, which is the process by which previous experiences and prior knowledge shape the recollection of past events. In this study, we examined how secure base script knowledge, an aspect of attachment representations that reflects access to a temporal-causal sequence regarding receiving support from close others, predicts changes in how romantic partners perceive conflict resolution discussions over time. Members of engaged couples (N =154) rated levels …

Mind-Care Maine: Mindfulness Intervention For Caregivers Of Children With Autism In Rural Environments Of Maine, Northern New England Clinical & Translational Research Network

Northern New England Clinical & Translational Research

Caregivers of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) experience high stress related to behavioral, communication, and caregiving demands, which can increase anxiety, depression, and health risks. Rural caregivers face added challenges such as social isolation, limited specialized services, and barriers to in-person mental health support. A mobile app-based mindfulness program may offer a more accessible option for caregivers in these underserved settings.

Implementing Visual Supports Through Vocational Training Modules For Students Preparing To Exit School-Based Services, Kaitlynn Karthan

Occupational Therapy Doctorate Capstone Projects

Unemployment and underemployment remain persistent barriers for autistic and developmentally disabled individuals, with up to 75% of autistic adults in the United States experiencing difficulty obtaining or maintaining meaningful work. To address this disparity within school-based transition services, this capstone project evaluated the effectiveness of video modeling as an instructional method for vocational skill acquisition among seven young adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities (DD). Grounded in the Occupational Justice framework, this study utilized a quantitative pretest–posttest–follow-up quasi-experimental design to measure accuracy and task completion time on two vocational tasks: rolling silverware and filling condiment cups. …

Predictors Of Dietary Meat Reduction In Gen Z College Students: A Cross-Sectional Survey Using The Com-B Model, Deanne Moosman Jan 2025

Predictors Of Dietary Meat Reduction In Gen Z College Students: A Cross-Sectional Survey Using The Com-B Model, Deanne Moosman

Graduate Research Theses & Dissertations

Overconsumption of meat negatively impacts human and environmental health, and these challenges are expected to worsen due to global population growth and increasing meat consumption. Many consumers appear unwilling to reduce their meat intake, and this resistance to dietary change is more common among adult men than women. However, data about meat-eating attitudes and behaviors are lacking for younger generational cohorts. Generation Z (i.e., those born between 1995 and 2010; Gen Z) is a growing consumer group whose dietary decisions will have environmental and human health consequences. Little is known about Gen Z's meat consumption habits and behaviors and whether …
