Nebraska Beef Cattle Reports

Summary with Implications

A 2×2 +1 factorial experiment was performed to evaluate the effects of replacing wet corn distillers grain (WCDGS) with PureField distillers grains, a proprietary blend of wet distillers grains plus wheat middlings (Purefield LLC, Kansas, United States) at 15% or 30% of the diet (DM basis), on finishing performance and carcass characteristics. The inclusion of either byproduct resulted in improved steer performance, and carcass characteristics when compared to the treatment without the byproduct inclusion. No interactions between byproduct and inclusion level were observed for steer performance or carcass characteristics. A tendency for higher average daily gains was …

Glitched Humanity: A Digital Media Arts Advocacy Project, Shelly Maloney

Teaching Resource Archive

This lesson includes an original sample project and website that directs students towards learning how to utilize digital glitch art to create advocacy or raise awareness for the social, cultural, environmental, or political issue of their choice. It is designed to engage students in critical thinking skills, cross-curricular connections, reflective writing, digital art making, group discussion, and peer review.

Artists can use video and other media sources to explore the self-destructive tendencies of human nature (i.e. violence/war, consumption, and/or carelessness/environmental neglect) or other social, cultural, or political issues using digital manipulation, layered imagery, sound, and video.

Layers Of Identity, Elizabeth Toffel

Teaching Resource Archive

Students explore identity, specifically that identity is layered, shaped by personal experience, cultural background, community ties, and unique traits. Students conduct interviews with peers, reflect on identity components, both individually and collectively, and create a layer artwork on transparent acetate sheets. When stacked the layers visually showcase the layers of the student’s identity and represent how identity is complex, constructed, and always shaped by multiple influences.

Decentral Intelligence Agency: The Law And Autonomous Artificial Intelligence, Dr. Andrew W. Torrance , Ph. D., Dr. Bill Tomlinson , Ph.D.

Touro Law Review

Artificial intelligence (“AI”) is rapidly gaining autonomy across a range of domains, such as business, education, social relationships, and warfare. This article examines the legal and policy implications of autonomous AI agents, a rapidly evolving technology that challenges existing regulatory frameworks. Drawing from tort, agency, property, contract, privacy, human rights, and constitutional law, we propose a comprehensive approach to govern these increasingly independent entities. Our analysis begins with a historical perspective, tracing both the evolution of autonomous computational systems and of legal responses to such technologies. We then conduct a comparative study of AI governance across jurisdictions, highlighting regulatory gaps …

緣遊, Man Wa Fu

Dissertations from all years

Intergenerational Oral History As A Tool For Reconnecting In Educational Spaces, Jessica Godfrey Jan 2025

Intergenerational Oral History As A Tool For Reconnecting In Educational Spaces, Jessica Godfrey

West Chester University Master’s Theses

Contemporary education in the post-industrial western world functions to prepare students for participation in a dominant culture as compliant employees and abiding citizens. In rebellion against this institutional paradigm are educational practices that equip students with the ability to engage in critical analysis and engage with their communities as whole, self-knowing individuals. To accomplish this, educational endeavors are in desperate need of curricula that invite the totality of student and community experience into spaces of learning. These environments foster authentic growth and capitalize on the educational resource of student experience as a worthy source of knowledge. Intergenerational oral history as …

North Texas Research Forum 2025

Objective: Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is one of the most common elective orthopaedic surgeries. In addition, there are rising rates of obesity and diabetes and, with it, medications to treat them. This retrospective cross-sectional analysis aims to examine the outcomes of patients who underwent TKA and were on a Glucagon-like peptide-1 agonist (GLP-1a) at the time of surgery Methods: This study analyzes a database using CPT and ICD-10 codes to identify patients having primary TKA for knee osteoarthritis. Patients were divided into two groups based on GLP-1a use at TKA. Control variables included sex, age, BMI, smoking status, ECI, and …

A Rare Case Of Cutaneous Vulvar Leiomyoma Complicated By Postoperative Hematoma Formation, Ariel Moskowitz, Kimberly Udell Jan 2025

A Rare Case Of Cutaneous Vulvar Leiomyoma Complicated By Postoperative Hematoma Formation, Ariel Moskowitz, Kimberly Udell

North Texas Research Forum 2025

Leiomyomas are benign, well-circumscribed, monoclonal smooth muscle tumors. While leiomyoma of the uterus are exceedingly common, soft tissue leiomyomas are rare and often misdiagnosed. While excisional therapy is the mainstay of treatment, wide vulvar excisions can cause significant discomfort and disfigurement of the vulva. Here we present a unique case of a vulvar hematoma excision complicated by hematoma formation. A 39-year-old female presented to the ambulatory gynecology clinic with a 4-month history of an enlarging vulvar mass. On exam, a 4-cm mass was seen arising from the right upper labium. Office biopsy showed a well-circumscribed spindle cell lesion without nuclear …

Life Is Just A Classroom: Student Perceptions Of Courses Incorporating Popular Culture, Virginia Clinton-Lisell

Education, Health & Behavior Studies Faculty Publications

Some faculty design and teach college courses that incorporate popular culture, presumably to engage and spark interest in students. The purpose of this study is to examine student perceptions of courses that incorporate popular culture. College students (N = 464) were randomly assigned to read a course description and learning objectives that incorporated popular culture in general, the specific popular cultural celebrity Taylor Swift, or no mention of popular culture (control). Incorporating popular culture generally or specific to Taylor Swift had no overall effects on topic interest in the course or likelihood to enroll. However, students with greater interest in …

, Cloud Computing And Neutrosophic Logic: Navigating Uncertainty In Educational Administration, Ibrahim Yasser, Aya A. Abd El-Khalek, Huda E. Khalid, A. A. Salama, Ahmed K. Essa

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

Educational institutions face inherent uncertainties in student performance, stakeholder priorities, and data analysis. This paper explores how cloud computing, with its data storage, analytics, and collaboration tools, can address these uncertainties in educational administration. We propose a neutrosophic framework utilizing "truth," "falsity," and "indeterminacy" values to represent these complexities within educational data. Real-world case studies analyze how cloud computing can reduce uncertainties and improve decision-making. Our findings reveal that cloud computing offers significant potential for navigating the "fog" of educational administration, but its effectiveness is enhanced by considering the "indeterminacy" inherent in educational data through the neutrosophic framework. This research …

Genetic Property Rhetoric And The Public Domain, Dave Fagundes Jan 2025

Genetic Property Rhetoric And The Public Domain, Dave Fagundes

Texas A&M Journal of Property Law

Among the many themes that illuminate Jorge Contreras’s The Genome Defense, this Essay focuses on property. It considers the rhetorical role played by property in convincing both courts and the public that patenting genetic data was legally and ethically objectionable. This Essay begins by locating property—and public property—as a major theme in the dialogue surrounding the Myriad litigation. It then situates this rhetorical move in the context of property-talk generally, highlighting the distinctiveness of leveraging public rather than private ownership as a means of accessing moral intuitions. Finally, this Essay reflects on what the use of public property rhetoric …
