Quicche Cpies Data Report, Maureen Kennelly, Kathleen A. Donohue Jan 2025

Quicche Cpies Data Report, Maureen Kennelly, Kathleen A. Donohue

Physical Oceanography Technical Reports

The goal of QUantifying Interocean fluxes in the Cape Cauldron Hotspot of Eddy kinetic energy (QUICCHE) was to observe mixing and stirring in the Cape Basin in the southeast Atlantic Ocean across time and space scales ranging from seconds to months and from centimeters to tens of kilometers using a variety of sensors and platforms. As part of QUICCHE, two inverted echo sounders equipped with bottom pressure gauges and current meters (CPIES) were deployed at sites designated CP01 and CP02 at 4676 and 4895 m depth respectively, from March 2023 to April 2024. This report documents the processing of data …

Iterative Refinement Of Arbitrary Micro-Optical Surfaces, Megan Plummer, Stephen Taylor, Matthew Marshall, David Brown, Robert Leonard, Seth Hyra, Spencer E. Olson Jan 2025

Iterative Refinement Of Arbitrary Micro-Optical Surfaces, Megan Plummer, Stephen Taylor, Matthew Marshall, David Brown, Robert Leonard, Seth Hyra, Spencer E. Olson

Space Dynamics Laboratory Publications

We introduce an adaptive optical refinement method enabling ultra-precise micro-milling of arbitrary surfaces. Through repeated iteration, our method reduces surface error without requiring significant specific surface engineering. This remediates the long sample preparation times and lack of refinement capability that previously reported methods suffer from. The iterative refinement milling method was used to produce spherical mirrors with small radii of curvature and low surface roughness for use in micro Fabry-Perot cavities. We demonstrate the use of this adaptive process to produce a variety of arbitrary surface geometries on both optical fiber tips as well as optical flats. We additionally discuss …

A Phenomenological Inquiry Into The Recruitment And Retention Of Diverse Candidates In A Teacher Educator Preparation Program At A Predominantly White Institution, Tiffany Nicole Mosley Jan 2025

A Phenomenological Inquiry Into The Recruitment And Retention Of Diverse Candidates In A Teacher Educator Preparation Program At A Predominantly White Institution, Tiffany Nicole Mosley

Student Theses and Dissertations

The number of Teachers of Color has continuously declined for quite some time. As the K-12 student population becomes more diverse, the teaching population becomes less diverse, with less than 20 percent of teachers representing Teachers of Color. Teachers of Color are vital to K-12 students because they help improve students’ academic achievements, promote educational equity, and decrease the rate of disciplinary actions diverse students face (Sharp et al., 2019). Researchers suggest addressing the supply pipeline to improve the low rate of diverse teachers (Carter Andrews et al., 2019; Ingersoll et al., 2019; Rogers-Ard et al., 2019). This study aimed …

Synergizing Tqm, Jit, And Green Supply Chain Practices: Strategic Insights For Enhanced Environmental Performance, Aamir Rashid, Rizwana Rasheed, Noor Aina Amirah

Publications and Research

Background: This study examined the role of total quality management, just-in-time, and green supply chain management practices to improve environmental performance. Methods: Data from 207 manufacturing industry respondents from a developing economy were tested through a quantitative method using PLS-SEM with the help of SmartPLS to validate the measurement model. Results: The results show that just-in-time significantly impacts total quality management and green supply chain management practices. Similarly, total quality management significantly affects environmental performance. However, just-in-time insignificantly affects the environment. Likewise, total quality management is insignificant and negatively affects green supply chain practices. Conclusion: This research provides practical insight …

Behavioral And Neuroactivational Correlates Of Psychosocial Stress-Induced Cocaine Seeking In The Rat, Nicole Hinds Jan 2025

Behavioral And Neuroactivational Correlates Of Psychosocial Stress-Induced Cocaine Seeking In The Rat, Nicole Hinds

Theses and Dissertations

Abstract Nicole Maria Hinds BEHAVIORAL AND NEUROACTIVATIONAL CORRELATES OF PSYCHOSOCIAL STRESS-INDUCED COCAINE SEEKING IN THE RAT 2024 Molecular Cell Biology & Neuroscience Doctor of Philosophy Cocaine Use Disorder is characterized by a high risk for relapse that can persist over extended periods of abstinence. Psychosocial stressors are well-established to promote drug craving and relapse in humans but have rarely been employed in preclinical relapse models. Consequently, the underlying neural circuitry by which these stressors drive cocaine seeking has not yet been thoroughly explored. This project aimed to identify brain regions recruited during psychosocial stress-induced cocaine seeking in rats, with a …

Understanding Public Domain Case Citations, Joshua Levine Jan 2025

Understanding Public Domain Case Citations, Joshua Levine

Library Staff Online Writings

I first learned about public domain citations after law school, when I was working on a fifty-state survey. I was completely used to parentheticals that included the deciding court and the year of decision, so I couldn’t understand the examples I found from certain states. I thought that surely something was missing from these citations!

A Linear Periodized Resistance Training Program Is Effective At Reducing Depressive Symptoms But Not Anxiety In Females: A Pilot, Jason Sawyer, Matthew Mcpherson, Meghan Reuter, Paul A. Cacolice Jan 2025

A Linear Periodized Resistance Training Program Is Effective At Reducing Depressive Symptoms But Not Anxiety In Females: A Pilot, Jason Sawyer, Matthew Mcpherson, Meghan Reuter, Paul A. Cacolice

Biological and Biomedical Sciences Department Faculty Journal Articles

The purpose of this study was to determine whether a periodized resistance training program would influence self-reported depression and anxiety scores in college-aged females. Methods: Eight participants participated in a six-week periodized resistance training program. The participants completed a 3–5 repetition maximum (3–5 RM) for the sumo deadlift (SDL), bench press (BP), barbell back squat (BBS), and standing shoulder press (SSP). These data were used to estimate the 1 repetition maximum (1RM), which in turn was used to develop the periodization program. Following baseline testing, participants participated in two full-body workouts per week for six weeks. Each individual was retested …

Discovery, Injury, And Diligence: Reconciling Subjective And Objective Copyright Limitations Standards Post-Warner Chappell, Dennis D. Crouch, Timothy Knight Jan 2025

Discovery, Injury, And Diligence: Reconciling Subjective And Objective Copyright Limitations Standards Post-Warner Chappell, Dennis D. Crouch, Timothy Knight

Faculty Publications

This Article examines the evolving interpretation of the Copyright Act's statute of limitations in light of RADesign, Inc. v. Michael Grecco Productions, Inc., a case pending before the Supreme Court. Following the Court's decision in Warner Chappell Music, Inc. v. Nealy (2024), which left open the question of whether copyright claims can be based on infringement occurring more than three years prior, the circuit courts remain split on whether the three-year statute of limitations runs from the time of infringement (the "injury rule") or from when the copyright holder discovers the infringement (the "discovery rule"). Through analysis of the Grecco …
