ELO 2026 Performance proposal
Hacking Stone Moons: Or, a Re-viving a still born child A behind-the-scenes melodrama in three acts. We will bring you a feat so audacious, so deliriously intricate, it defies the very laws of preservation, coding, and creation. Program Notes From 2023- 2025, Claire Leyden, Jenn Nguyen, and Quinn Carrick resurrected Deena Larsen’s 1995-1999 Stone Moons saga, written to pour out the frustrations of an ongoing struggle that her friend was undergoing to get support for her pre-verbal autistic child. Since this was an organic work, deftly mirroring reality and fantasy, this classic hypertext’s nodes and links …

Cervical cancer has a high incidence rate in women, making the development of cancer drugs increasingly urgent. Asian swamp eel protein hydrolysate shows great promise as an anticancer candidate. This study aimed to reveal the potential of Asian swamp eel protein hydrolysate as an anticancer candidate in the cervix. Asian swamp eel protein hydrolysate was produced by hydrolyzing flesh with the enzyme alcalase. Compounds and peptides were identified using LC-HRMS. These compounds and peptides were analyzed using network pharmacology, gene ontology, and molecular docking. The results identified 153 endogenous compounds, including fatty acids and peptides. The key proteins targeted by …
Remaking The Red Death: An Interactive Fiction Post-Mortem, Kenton T. Howard
Remaking The Red Death: An Interactive Fiction Post-Mortem, Kenton T. Howard
ELO (un)supervised 2026
This individual talk provides a post-mortem discussion of an interactive fiction game the author created, ReMasque of the Red Death, for the Electronic Literature Collection Volume 5. The game is a web-based interactive fiction recreation of Edgar Allan Poe’s classic short story “The Masque of the Red Death” built using ink and Inky, an interactive fiction scripting engine, with 2D art assets created in Sketchpad, a mobile-based digital drawing app. The game was produced entirely without the usage of AI tools. This talk will cover the initial ideation for the game, creating a basic prototype of the game’s core systems, …
Compressed Cinema As A Study In Llm Latent Spaces, Mallen Clifton
Compressed Cinema As A Study In Llm Latent Spaces, Mallen Clifton
ELO (un)supervised 2026
In his article “Spec Acts” (2021), Matthew Kirschenbaum analyzes the AI-generated novel 1 the Road to develop his titular concept of the spec act, “the future in its multitudes collapsing into an actionable present.” With the proliferation of texts produced by generative AI and subsequent critical analyses of them, one element in particular calls for further theorization: “the future in its multitudes,” or more directly, the latent space. This echoes arguments by critics such as Antonio Somaini, who offered his own “Theory of Latent Spaces” last year. However, where Somaini’s attention is towards visual culture, I turn mine to the …

The Implications Of Generative-Ai User Prompt Engineering Shaping The Absent Presence Of Latino Women Textual Rhetoric In Llms, Angely C. Suarez Dejesus
ELO (un)supervised 2026
This article examines how large language models (LLMs) generate text that affects underrepresented groups, particularly Latino women, due to limited cultural, contextual, and abstraction training rooted in biases. The research draws on Brock’s (2018) CTDA theory, White et al.’s (2023) prompt engineering framework, Klein’s (2015) computational spatiality, and Anzaldua’s (1987) concepts of cultural, emotional, and gendered borderlands to analyze the outputs. Using narrative prompt experiments, Chat GPT 3.5, 5, Claude AI, Gemini, and Microsoft Co-Pilot produced changes in their textual outputs as evidence of further algorithmic designs. Nevertheless, continual biases embedded in the algorithms’ linguistic representation and misrepresentation through the …
Cooperation, Collaboration, And Community In Horror And Suspense Games, Rachel Kerr, Monica Evans, Cameron Irby, Cheri Tang
Cooperation, Collaboration, And Community In Horror And Suspense Games, Rachel Kerr, Monica Evans, Cameron Irby, Cheri Tang
ELO (un)supervised 2026
Cooperation has been a staple in video and analog games since their inception. From couch co-op to social deduction games, there are few games that cannot be enjoyed cooperatively in some way. Even games that are not inherently cooperative can be played collaboratively, from single-player games enjoyed by multiple people in the same room to PvP games where players opt for teamwork despite explicitly competitive mechanics. In horror and suspense games, cooperation tends to form strong communicative bonds between players. The four papers in this panel examine how communities form in and around horror and suspense games, and how those …
Post-Digital Creativity In Underacknowledged Communities, Tegan Pyke, Hannah Ackermans, Zahra Rizvi
Post-Digital Creativity In Underacknowledged Communities, Tegan Pyke, Hannah Ackermans, Zahra Rizvi
ELO (un)supervised 2026
In a world marked by polarization and institutional censorship, what we pay attention to matters more than ever. We would almost forget that people, unsupervised, cannot help but be creative. Increasingly, this creativity takes the form of post-digital art and literature, often without awareness of “electronic literature” as a concept or the ELO as an institution. In this panel, we open up the conversation of researching post-digital creativity outside e-lit cultures to learn what role multimodality and participatory cultures (can) play inside e-lit cultures.
To encourage active participation in this online panel, we intend to split our session into two …
A Geometric Proof Of Lagrange's Theorem For Continued Fractions, Anton Lukyanenko, Joseph Vandehey
A Geometric Proof Of Lagrange's Theorem For Continued Fractions, Anton Lukyanenko, Joseph Vandehey
University of Tennessee Mathematical Journal
For regular continued fractions (CFs), points with finite expansions are exactly the rationals and, by Lagrange's theorem, points with eventually-periodic expansions are exactly the roots of non-degenerate quadratic equations with integer coefficients. We extend both results to proper and discrete Iwasawa CFs, including real, complex, 3D, quaternionic, octonionic, and Heisenberg CFs. Namely, the following three conditions are equivalent for a point $p$: $p$ has a finite expansion, $p\in \mathcal M(\infty)$ for the appropriate modular group $\mathcal M$, and $p$ is a fixed point of a parabolic transformation in $\mathcal M$. Eventually-periodic points correspond exactly to fixed points of \emph{loxodromic} elements …
Open The Case, Detective! A Story-Driven Game Approach To Combat Human Trafficking In Hospitality, Aili Wu, Wei Wei, Lu Zhang
Open The Case, Detective! A Story-Driven Game Approach To Combat Human Trafficking In Hospitality, Aili Wu, Wei Wei, Lu Zhang
ICHRIE Research Reports
Executive Summary: Human trafficking is a pervasive global crime that significantly impacts the hospitality industry, with several major hotel chains facing lawsuits for human trafficking negligence. As a highly sensitive issue that is often misunderstood, it poses challenges for hospitality businesses to effectively educate their customers. Meanwhile, existing interventions remain limited and largely rely on passive methods, highlighting the need for interactive interventions to help individuals respond effectively. This research addresses these challenges by proposing and testing a story-driven detective game as an interactive alternative. In the game, hospitality customers play the role of a detective investigating a trafficking case …

Designing Menus That Welcome Everyone: How Inclusive Menu Cues Drive Customer Behavior For Diners With Dietary Restrictions, Cortney Norris, Lisa Slevitch, Matthew Bauman, Soyoung Park, Seung Hyun Lee
ICHRIE Research Reports
Millions of consumers navigate dietary restrictions every time they eat out, whether due to food allergies, religious practices, or lifestyle choices such as veganism. Yet most restaurant menus do little to acknowledge these needs. This report summarizes findings from a three-phase study that explored which menu design features most effectively communicate inclusivity to diners with dietary restrictions and how those features influence emotions, attitudes, and likelihood of choosing a restaurant. The results offer restaurant operators concrete, evidence-based strategies for making their menus more welcoming and, in doing so, expanding their customer base.

The Role Of Perceived Academic And Peer Support In Mitigating Imposter Syndrome Among Adhd Students, Eden Morley Dr
The Role Of Perceived Academic And Peer Support In Mitigating Imposter Syndrome Among Adhd Students, Eden Morley Dr
Journal of Science Education for Students with Disabilities
Background: Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in higher education is associated with significant executive functioning deficits and performance inconsistencies. These challenges, alongside heightened rejection sensitivity, may predispose students to the Imposter Phenomenon (IP)—the persistent belief that one’s success is undeserved. While social and academic supports are known to buffer psychological distress, their specific role in mitigating IP within the ADHD student population remains under-researched.
Objectives: This study investigated the severity of IP among undergraduate students with ADHD and examined the protective roles of Perceived Social Support (PSS) and Perceived Academic Support (PAS), while exploring gender as a potential moderator.
Methodology: A cross-sectional …

Usability Of Bitcoin As Currency In Türkiye: Fourier Shin Approach, İsmail Cem Özkurt, Deniz Özyakışır, Yunus Kutval
The Indonesian Capital Market Review
This paper seeks to assess the feasibility of utilizing Bitcoin as a currency within Türkiye. To achieve this, the research analyzes long-term cointegration relationships between Bitcoin and both the US Dollar and Euro, employing monthly data from November 2017 to February 2025 and utilizing the Fourier Shin cointegration test. The results of the cointegration tests, bolstered by Fourier series analysis, reveal significant long-term cointegration relationships between Bitcoin and both the USD and Euro. The DOLS analysis indicates that a 1% rise in Bitcoin leads to a 14% decrease in the USD price and a 17% increase in the Euro. These …
Quilt Poems: Encoding Craft Traditions As Generative Poetry, Lee Tusman
Quilt Poems: Encoding Craft Traditions As Generative Poetry, Lee Tusman
ELO (un)supervised 2026
This talk presents Quilt Poems, a generative literature project that finds unexpected common ground between quilting, data, and computational poetry. Beginning as a NaNoGenMo (National Novel Generating Month) entry, the project encodes a library of traditional quilt patterns as structured data, pairs them with a curated word corpus, and uses software to produce visual poems whose form is literally shaped by quilt geometries. I'll walk through the process of translating a tactile, domestic craft tradition into a formal data schema — the interpretive choices that entails, what gets lost and what gets discovered — and how that encoded knowledge …
