Despite state mandates requiring culturally responsive teaching (CRT) implementation, the problem addressed by this study was that urban high school teachers are not consistently integrating CRT practices with Black students in Reading/English language arts (RELA) courses. Guided by the CRT framework, the purpose of this basic qualitative study was to explore the experiences of urban high school teachers with incorporating CRT practices with Black high school students in RELA courses in Maryland. The problem addressed through this study is that current leadership development programs for global humanitarian aid sector (GHAS) leaders fail to adequately address the unique circumstances of humanitarian aid work. Grounded in trauma-informed care and adaptive leadership, the purpose of this basic qualitative study was to explore GHAS leaders' perceptions of the essential components and opportunities for improving leadership development programs, as well as their recommendations on how to address the unique contexts of humanitarian aid workers. Multitrophic interactions can strongly influence the structure and functioning of ecosystems, but how plant diversity influences the direction and predictability of multitrophic interactions across agricultural and natural ecosystems remains unclear. Using 149 field studies across five continents, we found that, on average, increasing plant diversity tended to exert differential top-down and bottom-up effects in croplands versus grasslands and forests. Organic and nonorganic croplands exhibited 846 and 148% higher invertebrate natural enemy-to-herbivore abundance ratios under increased plant diversity, consistent with top-down control patterns where predator gains cause herbivore declines, enhancing crop outcomes. Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) remains a devastating cerebrovascular emergency associated with substantial morbidity and mortality. Current guidelines recommend 14-21 days of inpatient monitoring and a 21-day course of nimodipine following aSAH. This retrospective study evaluates early outcomes early discharge (≤14 days post-ictus) and an abbreviated nimodipine course in highly selected patients with good-grade aSAH managed under a standardized institutional protocol. Consecutive patients enrolled in the Vancouver Ruptured Aneurysm Database (VRAD) at Vancouver General Hospital between 2022 and 2025 were included. The B2B cybersecurity marketplace is characterised by long sales cycles, high organisational risk, and technically sophisticated decision-makers, conditions under which conventional rule- based lead qualification systematically misallocates sales effort. This dissertation develops, evaluates, and interprets a predictive lead-scoring framework for this setting, grounded in the Cross-Industry Standard Process for Data Mining (CRISP-DM) and applied to a synthetic B2B cybersecurity CRM dataset of 5,000 opportunities. Five classification algorithms — Decision Tree, Logistic Regression, Linear Support Vector Machine, Neural Network, and XGBoost — are benchmarked on accuracy, AUC, precision, recall, F1-score, and probability calibration. Erdös-Ko-Rado (EKR) type theorems carry the answer to the following fundamental optimization question in extremal combinatorics, given a finite family of combinatorial objects alongside a notion of intersection, what is the maximum size of a pairwise intersecting subfamily? In classical EKR type problems, the maximum subfamily is obtained by fixing one common core element or set and taking all members of the family containing it. Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) maintain lifelong blood production by balancing self-renewal and multilineage differentiation. They are sustained by networks of transcription factors and epigenetic regulators that prime lineage-specific programs while simultaneously preventing activation of any one program up until the moment of lineage commitment. Despite extensive study, it remains unclear how these complex transcriptional programs are coordinated and how specific epigenetic regulators are deployed to reinforce specific cell fate decisions. Background. First-year undergraduate nursing students often struggle to adapt their learning strategies to the higher-order thinking and clinical reasoning demands of nursing education. Ineffective study habits, low academic self-efficacy, and limited self-regulated learning (SRL) skills are consistently identified as predictors of attrition, which ranges from 20–50% nationally and internationally.

Purpose. At an academic medical center in rural East Texas, first-semester students report academic overwhelm and inadequate study strategies, consistent with national trends. A structured, evidence-based faculty coaching intervention targeting SRL and metacognition was found to be feasible within the collaborative, student-centered organizational culture.

Existing approaches offer valuable but often isolated explanations of conflict behavior, limiting their ability to account for its complexity. This thesis addresses this limitation by advancing systems science as an organizing framework for integrating these perspectives. It introduces the Human-Complex Adaptive Systems (H-CAS) framework, which conceptualizes human behavior as a recursive adaptive process operating across interconnected regulatory domains. BACKGROUND: A major barrier to hepatitis C virus (HCV) elimination in the United States is the lack of a point-of-care test to confirm the presence of HCV RNA. The purpose of this clinical trial was to evaluate the performance of the Xpert® HCV test at CLIA-waived sites in the United States.

METHODS: Participants at risk and/or with signs/symptoms of HCV infection provided fingerstick blood that was tested on the Xpert® HCV test and venous blood tested using the cobas® HCV and Elecsys® Anti-HCV II tests. Fingerstick blood was collected at CLIA-waived sites by individuals self-trained on collection procedures.

BACKGROUND: Catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) surveillance is critical for patient safety. Many healthcare systems use electronic algorithms to flag candidate infection events but still require manual chart review to confirm CAUTI cases. We evaluated the use of a large language model (LLM) to enhance CAUTI surveillance.

METHODS: We analyzed 919 potential CAUTI cases flagged by the electronic surveillance algorithm at Barnes-Jewish Hospital from 2021 to 2024. These cases were previously classified as 291 CAUTIs and 628 non-CAUTIs by trained infection preventionists (IPs). Parents with immigration backgrounds face the dual challenges of maintaining their heritage culture while supporting their children’s adaptation to the mainstream culture. Although previous studies stressed both acculturation and enculturation, these two processes can compete and even conflict, leading to the important question for parents: Does parental enculturation influence children’s peer relationships and emotional functioning? This study examines the associations between parental enculturation and the social and emotional adaptation of Asian American youth by focusing on peer relationship difficulties and emotional symptoms.
