The production of isolated high-energy photons accompanied by jets has been measured in deep inelastic ep scattering with the ZEUS detector at HERA, using an integrated luminosity of 326pb -1. Measurements were made for exchanged photon virtualities, Q 2, in the range 10 to 350GeV 2. The photons were measured in the transverse-energy and pseudorapidity ranges 4

Moving From Good To Great Service: Developing And Implementing Quality Standards, Cheryl A. Burkhart-Kriesel Aug 2012

Moving From Good To Great Service: Developing And Implementing Quality Standards, Cheryl A. Burkhart-Kriesel

Cornhusker Economics

Does your business have standards for customer service? You may be thinking, “ I’m a business with just a couple of employees so implementing good customer service is not a problem – we just do it.” Well, that may be true now, but what happens when you hire a new employee? Do they know what is expected? How do you communicate to them the importance of delivering exceptional customer service?

For those businesses with customer service standards - it is one thing to develop standards for your business. It is quite another to incorporate them into your business, so that …

Martharaptor Greenriverensis, A New Theropod Dinosaur From The Lower Cretaceous Of Utah, Phil Senter, James I. Kirkland, Donald D. Deblieux

College of Health, Science, and Technology

Background: The Yellow Cat Member of the Cedar Mountain Formation (Early Cretaceous, Barremian?) of Utah has yielded a rich dinosaur fauna, including the basal therizinosauroid theropod Falcarius utahensis at its base. Recent excavation uncovered a new possible therizinosauroid taxon from a higher stratigraphic level in the Cedar Mountain Formation than F. utahensis. Methodology/Principal Findings: Here we describe a fragmentary skeleton of the new theropod and perform a phylogenetic analysis to determine its phylogenetic position. The skeleton includes fragments of vertebrae, a scapula, forelimb and hindlimb bones, and an ischium. It also includes several well-preserved manual unguals. Manual and pedal morphology …

Houston, We Have A…Solution?, Reed Greenwood, Gary W. Ritter

Policy Briefs

The Arkansas Department of Education recently released the list of the lowest performing schools in Arkansas—labeled as focus and priority schools. Now that these schools have been singled out, they will be subjected to heavy intervention. Educators and policymakers all over Arkansas have their eyes on these schools and are asking - what's next? How do we turn around lower performing schools? What works? In this policy brief, we outline one particular program—the Apollo 20 program—that is working to turnaround achievement in lower performing schools. Early results show gains comparable with prominent charter schools in the nation, but some criticize …

Interstitial-Scale Modeling Of Packed-Bed Reactors, Daniel Parks Combest Aug 2012

Interstitial-Scale Modeling Of Packed-Bed Reactors, Daniel Parks Combest

All Theses and Dissertations (ETDs)

Packed-beds are common to adsorption scrubbers, packed bed reactors, and trickle-bed reactors widely used across the petroleum, petrochemical, and chemical industries. The micro structure of these packed beds is generally very complex and has tremendous influence on heat, mass, and momentum transport phenomena on the micro and macro length scales within the bed. On a reactor scale, bed geometry strongly influences overall pressure drop, residence time distribution, and conversion of species through domain-fluid interactions. On the interstitial scale, particle boundary layer formation, fluid to particle mass transfer, and local mixing are controlled by turbulence and dissipation existing around packed particles. …

Targets Of Heterochromatin Assembly In Drosophila Melanogaster, Monica F. Sentmanat Aug 2012

Targets Of Heterochromatin Assembly In Drosophila Melanogaster, Monica F. Sentmanat

All Theses and Dissertations (ETDs)

Heterochromatin is classically defined as densely staining regions of the genome; these domains are typically late replicating and show little recombination. Correct assembly of heterochromatin is critical for chromosome stability. Assembly begins with histone deacetylation and H3 lysine 9 di- and trimethylation: H3K9me2/3); the methylated H3 is typically bound by Heterochromatin Protein 1a: HP1a). Heterochromatin predominates at pericentric and telomeric domains --regions abundant in transposable elements: TEs) and satellite repeats. Transcription of these TEs has been found to generate a platform for assembly of heterochromatin through RNAi in S. pombe and A. thaliana, and may play a critical role in …

Silencing Through Heterochromatin Formation: The Role Of Piwi In Transposon Targeting, Hsiming Wang Aug 2012

Silencing Through Heterochromatin Formation: The Role Of Piwi In Transposon Targeting, Hsiming Wang

All Theses and Dissertations (ETDs)

Heterochromatin packages a large portion of the genome in eukaryotes, and plays important roles in mitosis, telomere homeostasis, and transposon: TE) control, all necessary to ensure genome stability. A precisely controlled mechanism to designate which regions of the genome should be so packaged is critical to the fitness of an organism. Mis-localized heterochromatin can lead to mis-regulation of nearby and even distant genes, with pleotropic consequences. How cells: and hence organisms) precisely control the location and extent of heterochromatin formation is an intriguing question. Models involving small RNAs, epigenetic inheritance of histone modifications, DNA binding proteins targeting specific motifs, and …

Court Briefs

QUESTION PRESENTED

Section 704(a) of Title VII prohibits an employer from retaliating against an employee because he or she opposed discrimination forbidden by Title VII. The lower courts are divided as to how such anti-retaliation provisions apply to management officials, such as personnel or EEO officials, whose duties include assuring compliance with Title VII or implementing an employer’s anti-discrimination policy.

The question presented is: Are management officials: (1) subject to exclusion from protection under section 704(a) if their actions are within the scope of their official duties (the rule in the Fifth, Eighth, Tenth and Eleventh Circuits),
(2) protected under …

Psychology Faculty Publications

Data from 655 early adolescents from three contexts (Curitiba, Brazil; Montreal, Canada and Barranquilla, Colombia) were used to test for measurement invariance in the constructs of essentialism and narrativism. These two different strategies have been proposed to explain the perceptions of stability of selfcontinuity over time. Essentialism predicates self-continuity on some fundamental, unchanging aspect of the self. In contrast, narrativism is an understanding of self-continuity as a result of one’s cumulative experiences and decisions. Previous research using interview methods have found that these two strategies are mutually exclusive expressions of self-continuity. The current study sought to test this conceptualization using …
