Thermoluminescence Dosimetry Of Mixed Neutron – Gamma Fields, Rajiha.R. Mahmod

Baghdad Science Journal

The method of measurement dosimetry in neutron – gamma field by using CaSo4 : Dy (PTFE) disc which has a diameter of 1.3mm and thickness of 0.2mm and using hydrogenated material as a converters of neutron to recoil protons (n-p) reaction, the discs were irradiated by neutron source (241Am-Be) with flux of 4.5?105 n/cm2s for different time to obtain different dose. The TL signals, which we have been obtained by using the converters, are increases to 71%. So we can resolve the neutron and gamma in mixed field.

Fcc Affirms Decision, Rules In Favor Of Tennis Channel Against Comcast, Melissa Rachel Heller

Cardozo Arts & Entertainment Law Journal (AELJ) Blog

Tennis Channel and Comcast have been engaged in a bitter dispute over the provider’s refusal to carry Tennis Channel since July 2010. Tennis Channel claimed that Comcast discriminated against the channel and gave preferential treatment to other sports networks, such as The Golf Channel and Versus. Tennis Channel argued that this impeded its ability to compete fairly in the video programming marketplace. In December 2011, an administrative judge ruled in favor of Tennis Channel and fined Comcast $375,000. Additionally, the judge ordered Comcast to give equal treatment to the channel. Comcast appealed the decision, which was subsequently affirmed by the …

The Public Face Of The 'Litigation State:' Federal Empowerment Of Litigation By State Governments, Paul Nolette Sep 2012

The Public Face Of The 'Litigation State:' Federal Empowerment Of Litigation By State Governments, Paul Nolette

Political Science Faculty Research and Publications

Scholars have recently begun exploring the construction of what Sean Farhang has termed the “litigation state” – namely, the distinctly American way in which contemporary federal programs are enforced by means of litigation. The attention in this literature to date has focused on why Congress has encouraged private litigation to enforce various statutory programs. This paper examines the emergence of a related and no less important development – the federal government’s encouragement of state government litigators to help enforce federal regulatory programs, especially state attorneys general ("AGs"). Examining several decades’ worth of congressional actions, court decisions, and federal administrative initiatives …

Employment Supports For Newcomers In Small And Middle-Sized Communities Andrural Areas: Perspectives Of Newcomers And Service Providers, Bharati Sethi, Robert Gebotys

Contemporary Rural Social Work Journal

In recent years there has been an increased migration of highly skilled and educated cohort of men and women from their initial port of entry—large urban centers such as Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal—to smaller urban/rural communities as a result of regionalization of the Canadian immigration policies. This article examines the employment supports for newcomers in Grand Erie—an urban/rural area in Ontario—which is now a home to an unprecedented number of newcomers. Using a community-based participatory research methodology, data were gathered from 212 newcomers and 237 service providers through quantitative and qualitative responses in the survey questionnaires. Results show that newcomers …

Cryptanalysis Of An Id-Based Proxy Signature Scheme With Message Recovery, M. Tian, L. Huang, W. Yang Sep 2012

Cryptanalysis Of An Id-Based Proxy Signature Scheme With Message Recovery, M. Tian, L. Huang, W. Yang

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

ID-based message recovery signature is a kind of lightweight signature. In such a signature scheme, a complicated certification system is discarded and the total length of the message and the appended signature is also shortened. Proxy signature allows an original signer to delegate a proxy signer to sign messages on its behalf, which has found numerous practical applications such as grid computing and mobile agent systems. Recently, Singh and Verma proposed the first ID-based proxy signature scheme with message recovery. They proved that their scheme is secure in the random oracle model and believed that it can be used widely. …

Self-Tuning Information Fusion Kalman Filter For Multisensor Multi-Channel Arma Signals With Colored Measurement Noises And Its Convergence, Guili Tao, Zili Deng Sep 2012

Self-Tuning Information Fusion Kalman Filter For Multisensor Multi-Channel Arma Signals With Colored Measurement Noises And Its Convergence, Guili Tao, Zili Deng

Applied Mathematics & Information Sciences

For the multisensor multi-channel autoregressive moving average (ARMA) signals with white measurement noises and an ARMA colored measurement noise as a common disturbance noise, a multi-stage information fusion identification method is presented when model parameters and noise variances are partially unknown. The local estimators of model parameters and noise variances are obtained by the multi-dimensional recursive instrumental variable (MRIV) algorithm, correlation method, and the Gevers-Wouters algorithm, and the fused estimators are obtained by taking the average of the local estimators. They have the consistency. Substituting them into the optimal fusion Kalman filter weighted by scalars, a self-tuning fusion Kalman filter …

An Investigation Of The Current Course Content On The Ba (Hons.) In Culinary Arts Hot Kitchen Modules In The Dublin Institute Of Technology To Ascertain Whether The Content Is Adequate In Meeting The Needs Of The Stakeholders, Pauline Danaher

Theses, M.Phil

This research focuses on Culinary Arts Education, particularly the adequacy and attitudes of all the stakeholders to the content of the hot kitchen modules on the BA (Hons.) in Culinary Arts in the Dublin Institute of Technology. The lack of research in culinary education has been highlighted by Berta (2005) and Zopiatis (2010).

This thesis has traced the evolution of culinary culture in Europe from Ancient Greece and Rome, up to the present day. Carême (1784 – 1833) and Escoffier (1846 – 1935), the founders of classical French cuisine, codified French cuisine which lead to the need of properly trained …

Comparative Analysis Of Dispersion Parameter Estimates In Loglinear Modeling: Applied To E-Commerce Sales And Customer Data, Scott Davis Sep 2012

Comparative Analysis Of Dispersion Parameter Estimates In Loglinear Modeling: Applied To E-Commerce Sales And Customer Data, Scott Davis

Statistics

When loglinear models are applied to count data the issue of over-dispersion often arises. Moment and maximum likelihood estimation methods in accounting for over-dispersion are widely used because they allow for model checking tools such as Chi-square, F, and likelihood ratio tests. Here is a comparison between R functions that each uses one method; glm.nb uses MLE, and glm.poisson.disp uses MME. The Index of Dissimilarity and visual model selection (ECDF plots) are also incorporated. These are applied to sales data using product and customer information compiled over the last five years that was generously provided by an e-commerce company.
