Rough Wavelet Granular Space And Classification Of Multispectral Remote Sensing Image, Sankar Kumar Pal, Saroj Kumar Meher Jul 2012

Rough Wavelet Granular Space And Classification Of Multispectral Remote Sensing Image, Sankar Kumar Pal, Saroj Kumar Meher

Patents

A new rough-wavelet granular space based model for land cover classification of multispectral remote sensing image, is described in the present article. In this model, we propose the formulation of classdependent(CD) granules in wavelet domain using shift-invariant wavelettransform (WT). Shift-invariant WT is carried out with properly selected wavelet base and decomposition level(s). The transform is used to characterize the feature-wise belonging of granules to different classes, thereby producing wavelet granulation of the feature space. The wavelet granules thus generated possess better class discriminatory information. The granulated feature space not only analyzes the contextual information in time or frequency domain individually, …

Hemochorial placentation is characterized by trophoblast-directed uterine spiral artery remodeling. The rat and human both possess hemochorial placentation and exhibit remarkable similarities regarding the depth of trophoblast invasion and the extent of uterine vascular modification. In vitro and in vivo research methodologies have been established using the rat as an animal model to investigate the extravillous/invasive trophoblast lineage. With these research approaches, two signaling pathways controlling the differentiation and invasion of the trophoblast cell lineage have been identified: i) hypoxia/hypoxia inducible factor and ii) phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/AKT/Fos like antigen 1. Dissection of these pathways has facilitated identification of fundamental regulators of …

How The Supreme Court's Medicaid Decision May Affect Health Centers: An Early Estimate, Katherine J. Hayes, Peter Shin, Sara J. Rosenbaum

Geiger Gibson/RCHN Community Health Foundation Research Collaborative

The nation's federally funded health centers are the principal source of primary health care for medically underserved populations. In CY 2011, more than 1,200 health centers, operating in more than 8,500 urban and rural locations, served 20.2 million patients, 36 percent of whom were uninsured and 93 percent of whom had family incomes below twice the federal poverty level. Federal grants provide core support to health centers, but Medicaid represents the largest single health center financing mechanism, accounting for 39 percent of revenues. Medicaid revenue growth allows health centers to preserve their core grant funding to reach uninsured patients while …

College Presidents: Losing Sleep For The Wrong Reasons — Dr. Frank Bonner, Gwu President, Frank Bonner, Office Of University Communications

Gardner-Webb NewsCenter Archive

College and university presidents may be losing sleep for the wrong reasons. Economic challenges are all too familiar. If you are a public institution president, you are probably dealing with significant cutbacks of state funding, along with almost all of the worries of private college presidents — endowment return, maintaining enrollment in the face of spiraling costs for our students, pressure to hold down tuition increases, our own increasing expenses, and economic stresses on our donors.
