Ammonia Production From Cattle At The Walter C. Todd Agricultural Research Center, Sydney Cunningham, Elizabeth Smith, Rachel Nelson, Brayden Wagner
Undergraduate Research Conference
The Walter C. Todd Agricultural Research Center cattle pen was tested to measure the ammonia emission rates produced by cattle. Samples were collected from six testing locations. Eighteen samples were taken across three days of testing, in 8-hour increments. We found that small-scale cattle in open-air pens produce minimal amounts of ammonia that are not a concern for air quality. Ammonia was detectable in small quantities in the testing sites adjacent to the cattle and not in locations more than 0.1 miles away.

Sfa Art Day: Button Design And Lesson Execution, Mia Thornton
Sfa Art Day: Button Design And Lesson Execution, Mia Thornton
Undergraduate Research Conference
For my research project, I designed a logo for the Art Education program. Then, on the November 8th Art Day I assisted Professor Denise Davis in presenting a multi-media lesson. This lesson included forms of book-making and button creation. The high school participants were given two options, cutting out one of the premade circle logos I designed or creating a unique design for their buttons. This project required me to learn new computer programs and interact with a student population that was unfamiliar to me.

Exploring Graphs And Chromatic Symmetric Functions, Olivia Payne
Exploring Graphs And Chromatic Symmetric Functions, Olivia Payne
Undergraduate Research Conference
We consider graphs with a small number of vertices and analyze the coefficients of hook partitions of their chromatic symmetric function, which is a generalization of the chromatic polynomial of a graph. Some of these coefficients can hold information about the graphs themselves and, in this research, we find a combinatorial formula for coefficients of hook partitions. This research is motivated by Stanley's Tree Conjecture.

The Harsh Realities Of Opera Houses And The Continual Popularity Of Minstrelsy In Terrell, Texas, Rebecca Jestis
The Harsh Realities Of Opera Houses And The Continual Popularity Of Minstrelsy In Terrell, Texas, Rebecca Jestis
Undergraduate Research Conference
In Terrell, Texas, five different opera houses operated from 1878 to 1910. Sources paint the earlier opera houses with rowdy audiences and scandalous performances, a reflection of early pioneer mentality. Later opera houses, all owned by the elite and well-known businessmen of Terrell, may have offered more popular and professional productions, but the most prominent of these were minstrel shows. With evidence of minstrelsy's fierce continuation in Terrell's society up until the 1950s, the study of the opera houses not only illuminates the growing racial tensions and complexities but also the normalization of minstrel shows and blackface for decades after …
Understanding Ai’S Potential In Creativity And Research, Chloe Albrecht, Natalie Pradia
Understanding Ai’S Potential In Creativity And Research, Chloe Albrecht, Natalie Pradia
Undergraduate Research Conference
We experimented with artificial intelligence (Al) to better understand its limitations, guiding principles, and ethical impacts in creative and academic research and writing. Our project's purpose was to explore if Al can only harm creative endeavors and should therefore remain separate from the arts. Our methodology involved prompting and re-prompting to compose a variety of texts, demonstrating that the use of Al for creative and academic works can involve critical thinking. This process included giving the Als broad-scope prompts and narrowing in on specific tasks with repetitive re-prompting. We applied this method to writing, gathering resources, and providing enough background …
