The Relationship Of Proximate-Peer Characteristics Of Seed Accelerator Participants To Member Firm Survival Outcomes (Theoretical), Matthew Crowley Apr 2025

The Relationship Of Proximate-Peer Characteristics Of Seed Accelerator Participants To Member Firm Survival Outcomes (Theoretical), Matthew Crowley

Liberty University Research Week

This study examined how composite gender and ethnic heterogeneity present at three levels of proximate-peer groups of accelerators—firms, cohorts, and alumni—relate to firm survival within five years after program graduation. This research addresses the problem that accelerator membership alone does not guarantee firm success by examining the factor of heterogeneity on survival using a fixed design, quantitative, correlational approach via a Cox proportional hazards model. Using archival data from Crunchbase on Y Combinator cohorts running from 2013 to 2017 augmented with demographic output from NamSor, the study investigated whether diversity at various levels of proximate-peer interactions related to the hazard …

Unleaded Aviation Fuel: Assessing Stakeholder Perceptions And Preparing An Organization For Change, Ryan Guthridge, Nicholas D. Wilson, Brandon Wild Apr 2025

Unleaded Aviation Fuel: Assessing Stakeholder Perceptions And Preparing An Organization For Change, Ryan Guthridge, Nicholas D. Wilson, Brandon Wild

Journal of Aviation Technology and Engineering

Since the Clean Air Act of 1996 banned the use of leaded fuel for automotive applications, leaded aviation gasoline (AVGAS) has become one of the leading sources of lead pollution in the nation due to the volume of AVGAS consumed in general aviation applications (GAMA, 2019). The Federal Aviation Administration has recently recognized this concern with the establishment of the Eliminate Aviation Gasoline Lead Emissions (EAGLE) initiative, which was formally established in February 2022 to foster an important campaign to research and inform the general aviation community on the process for transitioning to unleaded AVGAS. This essay seeks to inform …

The Role Of Wwii Propaganda In Shaping Women's Roles, Robert Baker-Nicholas Apr 2025

The Role Of Wwii Propaganda In Shaping Women's Roles, Robert Baker-Nicholas

Liberty University Research Week

This study offers a comparative qualitative analysis of World War II propaganda and how it influenced women’s labor in the United States and Canada. It investigates how each country’s cultural identity and political climate shaped propaganda messaging aimed at women and how that messaging affected public attitudes toward their roles. Using a wide range of primary sources—including propaganda posters, government studies, pamphlets, films, radio broadcasts, speeches, and oral narratives—this research highlights the stark differences in how the U.S. and Canada mobilized women during the war. In the United States, propaganda promoted female empowerment through iconic campaigns like Rosie the Riveter, …

Digital Asset Regulation: Cryptocurrency Smart Contracts And Securities Law, Gaege Gobezie Apr 2025

Digital Asset Regulation: Cryptocurrency Smart Contracts And Securities Law, Gaege Gobezie

Liberty University Research Week

The Securities and Exchange Commission has a long history of regulating interstate transactions. However, the meteoric rise of digital exchanges has presented the governmental organization with significant regulatory challenges. The SEC currently lacks an effective protocol for regulating commerce on digital exchanges. Notably, legislation classifying cryptocurrency as a security does not exist. This research project will first conduct a literature review of the current Supreme Court jurisprudence. Beginning with the review of SEC v. Howey (1946). This case is a seminal piece of precedent and is still used to determine the classification of assets. This landmark case involved the sale …

Bridging The Emotional Gaps: Understanding And Supporting Doctoral Students In Counselor Education, Janita Daggy, Deepa Michelle Emmanuel, Kelly Woodburn, Tiffany Spatz Apr 2025

Bridging The Emotional Gaps: Understanding And Supporting Doctoral Students In Counselor Education, Janita Daggy, Deepa Michelle Emmanuel, Kelly Woodburn, Tiffany Spatz

Liberty University Research Week

Doctoral counselor education programs are rigorous as they involve intense academic, research, and clinical components. Consequent to these demands and personal pressures of their roles, if adequate support is not available students can face significant emotional challenges, including stress, anxiety, isolation, imposter syndrome, burnout, and compassion fatigue. Understanding these emotional struggles is essential for developing institutional, interpersonal, and personal support strategies that enhance students’ academic success, mental well-being, and professional development. Furthermore, if emotional maturity is underdeveloped, students may demonstrate heightened levels of stress because of the lack of a secure foundational attachment style. However, a secure attachment figure in …

Gaps In Healthcare And Demographic Data In African Countries: A Proposed Solution, Juan Monteagudo, Bright Agbotui Apr 2025

Gaps In Healthcare And Demographic Data In African Countries: A Proposed Solution, Juan Monteagudo, Bright Agbotui

Liberty University Research Week

Accurate demographic and mortality data remain scarce for many African nations, leading to unreliable population projections and challenges in epidemiological modeling. Major demographic databases, such as the United Nations World Population Prospects and the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study, highlight significant gaps in fertility, mortality, and life expectancy data. Existing estimation methods often rely on statistical imputation, borrowing data from neighboring countries or applying generalized adjustments. However, these approaches frequently lack a transparent, systematic rationale for selecting reference nations, reducing the credibility and accuracy of demographic estimates. Methods: To address this issue, we propose the National Demographic, Economic, and …

Second Language Acquisition Of Traumatized Students, Candice Spaulding Apr 2025

Second Language Acquisition Of Traumatized Students, Candice Spaulding

Liberty University Research Week

Two recent developments indicate that a new horizon in English as a Second Language (ESL) classes and ministries has dawned. One is the increasing cultural awareness and acceptance of how PTSD and c-PTSD affect areas of the brain involved in second language acquisition (SLA). The other is the rapid influx of over half a million non-English speaking refugees from traumatic situations within the last three years. Through a convergence of SLA research in Liberty University’s Master of Teaching English as a Second Language program and the new research frontier of the lasting effects of trauma on the brain, it is …

A One Health Approach To Alpha-Gal Syndrome: Integrating Climate Science, Tick Ecology, And Public Health Interventions In The Southern United States, Oluwatosin Marylyn Oduneye, Chinonso Eziechi, Oyebolu Aderinola Akinkugbe Apr 2025

A One Health Approach To Alpha-Gal Syndrome: Integrating Climate Science, Tick Ecology, And Public Health Interventions In The Southern United States, Oluwatosin Marylyn Oduneye, Chinonso Eziechi, Oyebolu Aderinola Akinkugbe

Liberty University Research Week

Alpha-Gal Syndrome (AGS) is an emerging tick-borne allergic condition primarily triggered by bites from the Lone Star tick, resulting in delayed hypersensitivity reactions following the consumption of red meat. With rising temperatures and changing humidity levels due to climate change, tick habitats are spreading across the Southern United States, heightening the risk of AGS exposure. However, limited awareness of the syndrome in the community and among clinicians leads to delayed diagnoses, which hinders effective AGS management and prevention. This research adopts a One Health framework to investigate the ecological, climatic, and epidemiological factors contributing to the rise of AGS. This …
