Travel Behavior Study On Shared Micromobility Service, Yixiang Teng

This study investigates the travel behavior on the shared micromobility service around Purdue University West Lafayette campus area. It aims to understand the shared micromobility user patterns and identify the barriers of adoption. The study was enlightened by the influence of pandemic on transportation choices and the shift on transportation habits, and the gap identified was the understanding of the college related population. The research method was a constructed survey distributed among Purdue University’s students, faculties and staffs. A total of 143 valid responses were collected, comprising 73 current users and 70 non-users. Results indicate that shared micromobility is primarily …

Evidence appears to be building that direct exposure to natural landscapes characterized by significant green cover, such as forests, can help to reduce chronic health conditions such as obesity, stress, hypertension, chronic cardiovascular conditions, depression, anxiety, cancer, and diabetes. One way to encourage greater exposure to nature may be through the use of nature prescriptions, whereby clinicians formally recommend (or prescribe) time in nature to their patients. Based on self-reported data, we describe the implementation and lessons learned from a pilot field experiment examining the clinical use of nature-based versus conventional exercise recommendations in rural Oregon. Meta-reviews of gamification suggest that gamifying course instruction can positively impact learners' behaviors and attitudes, leading to improved learning outcomes. However, there is a lack of literature relaying concrete experiences with developing and deploying gamified content. This experience paper contributes to filling that gap by describing the deployment of gamified instruction to students enrolled in a mid-level university social science course. An Unusual Complication Of Diverticular Bleed: Dysphagia And Food Impaction From Black Esophagus, Nicholas Noverati, Beatriz Torre, Maria Mostyka, Cuckoo Choudhary, Christopher Henry, David Kastenberg, Stephanie Moleski

INTRODUCTION: Acute esophageal necrosis, or black esophagus, is a rare clinical phenomenon typically seen in older men after an acute triggering event. It may present with dysphagia due to stricturing or dysmotility, a complication of severe esophageal inflammation.

CASE PRESENTATION: Here we describe a case of a woman with several cardiovascular risk factors who developed black esophagus following diverticular-related hemorrhagic shock and presented with chest pain followed by dysphagia and food impaction likely as a result of mucosal sloughing and altered esophageal motility. The diagnosis was confirmed endoscopically and pathology revealed coagulative necrosis due to ischemia.

Fluorescent Labeling And Size-Dependent Uptake Of Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles In Ovarian Cancer Tumor Spheroids, Kimberly R. Berardis

Ovarian cancer is the most lethal gynecologic malignancy, with most patients presenting at an advanced stage. While surgical debulking improves survival, nonresectable tumors (<1 cm) contribute significantly to morbidity and remain difficult to treat. Nanocarrier-based drug delivery systems offer an innovative approach to targeted therapy and palliation. In vivo models have demonstrated that intraperitoneally delivered mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) preferentially accumulate in tumors with low systemic exposure, enabling targeted chemo- and radiotherapy.

MSNs are particularly suited for radiotherapeutic delivery, as their strong interactions with tumor extracellular matrices drive selective uptake. Additionally, they exhibit excellent stability under neutron flux, allowing for loading with stable isotopes and irradiation immediately prior to administration. High radionuclide retention after dilution further minimizes systemic exposure and toxicity.

One-year postgraduate taught programmes in the UK attract global talent through high-quality education, yet the employability and career pathways of these students remain understudied despite their recognised vital economic and cultural contributions. Amid the UK's higher education financial crisis, marked by funding cuts, staff layoffs, rising costs, and reliance on international student recruitment, this study employs the PRISMA 2020 framework to systematically review literature (2014–2024) on international postgraduate taught student employability. This study investigates the effectiveness of targeted digital advertising strategies for Company X, a performance motorsports fuel brand. With the goal of optimizing engagement and improving budget allocation, four distinct ad campaigns were developed and tested on Facebook and Instagram: brand awareness, product education, dealer locator promotion, and lifestyle merchandise promotion. Each campaign was evaluated based on reach, impressions, cost per result, and conversion rates. Descriptive statistics revealed significant differences in engagement rates across campaigns, with video-based, emotionally driven ads outperforming static formats. Objective: To assess whether rural-urban disparities exist in people with SLE for hospitalisation with myocardial infarction (MI).

Methods: We used the 2016-2019 US National Inpatient Sample data that contain all hospitalisation data. In people with a diagnosis of SLE, we assessed the multivariable adjusted ORs (aORs) to examine the association of rural patient residence with MI hospitalisation, while adjusting for demographics, payer, income, hospital characteristics and the Deyo-Charlson Comorbidity Index.

The Chehalis Basin, in southwest Washington, is one of a series of forearc basins between the Cascade Arc and the Coast Range in the Pacific Northwest. While the Seattle basin to the north, and the Portland-Tualatin basins to the south are both relatively well studied, the geologic evolution of basins in between is poorly constrained. The Chehalis basin is underlain by accreted Eocene oceanic basalt of the Crescent Formation. The basin fill consists of sedimentary rocks and volcanic rocks deposited throughout the Cenozoic. It has undergone N-S shortening driven by transpressional stress from oblique subduction of the Juan de Fuca …

The chapter analyses how constitutional law influences private-public arbitration in the United States. Its central thesis is that constitutional law exerts a powerful indirect influence on arbitration law. While the US Constitution does not directly regulate arbitration, its underlying norms—such as separation of powers, federalism, and individual rights—impact arbitration law indirectly. The chapter explores the ways in which these constitutional principles influence public-private arbitration through statutory interpretation, treaty design, and private protocols reflecting constitutional norms. This pattern of influence manifests itself in public arbitration (i.e. arbitration involving states or state-owned entities) just as it does in private arbitration. Highlighting how …

Objective: To examine the relationship between Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) and Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) stages in preterm neonates with gestational age < 30 weeks, and to evaluate how different PDA management approaches influence AKI occurrence.Study Design: A Single-center retrospective cohort study conducted at a level 3 NICU between February 2020 and September 2023. All inborn and out–born neonates with gestational age <30 weeks admitted within 72 hours of birth were included. AKI was defined using neonatal-modified Kidney Disease-Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) criteria. PDA management strategies were categorized as conservative, pharmacological, or surgical intervention.Results: Of 166 neonates, 79 (47.6%) had PDA and 133 (80.1%) developed AKI. PDA was associated with higher AKI incidence (87.3% vs 73.6%, p=0.026), lower gestational age (GA) (26.7±2.1 vs 27.8±2.0 weeks, p<0.001), lower birth weight (BW) (927.8±285.6 vs 1065.4±348.9g, p=0.005), more delivery room intubations (64.6% vs 48.3%, p=0.042), higher serum creatinine weeks 2-4 (p<0.05), paradoxically higher GFR weeks 2-4 (p<0.01), altered fluid management (higher week 1, p=0.015; lower weeks 3-4, p<0.05), and increased diuretic use (furosemide weeks 1-4, p<0.01; thiazide weeks 2-4, p<0.001). AKI infants had lower maternal age, GA, BW, 1-minute Apgar scores (all p≤0.01), more delivery room interventions (p<0.05), longer mechanical ventilation (p=0.05), and more inotrope use (p=0.02). Stage 2 AKI trended higher with PDA (13.9% vs 5.7%, p=0.08). Coding-based AKI diagnosis was substantially lower than KDIGO criteria (8.4% vs 80.1%).Conclusion: PDA is significantly associated with increased AKI risk in extremely preterm neonates, with altered renal …

Summary Despite the potential benefits of long-acting injections (LAIs) in schizophrenia treatment, current literature reveals a severe knowledge gap among psychiatric practitioners about their use. This knowledge gap may also contribute to underutilizing LAIs in clinical practice and at the project site, reducing patients' access to this effective treatment therapy. Student retention is a focus for higher education institutions aiming to improve student outcomes and institutional success. While previous research has often relied on qualitative assessments of college related factors, this project applies quantitative techniques at a national scale. Random forest and beta regression models were used to predict retention rates for public colleges based on institutional characteristics such as financial variables, enrollment patterns, and demographic metrics. The random forest models demonstrated higher accuracy than the beta regression models, leading us to find that financial variables and student integration factors are significant predictors of retention. Introduced in 2006, Kate Kane is the modern iteration of Batwoman, who is an out lesbian woman, in contrast to her 1950s counterpart that was created to alleviate concerns that Batman was gay. She would go on to star in stories by Greg Rucka, J.H. Williams III, and W. Haden Blackman that were published from 2009 to 2013. This run established core aspects of Kate’s character, supporting cast, and origin story.
