In this paper, I give an overview of the varying perspectives on gender affirming care, which disagree on who has the right to decide for the adolescent. I offer the psychological model as the perspective providers should take to avoid imposing their own morals on the patient. Next, I explore adolescent wellbeing and determine that since no adolescent specific goods exist, we should treat adolescents by child or adult wellbeing if you believe child wellbeing exists). I find that with these arguments, physicians should prescribe puberty blockers to adolescents as it gives more access to wellbeing. Finally, I explore objections …

Substrate Complexity Is Not Correlated With Skin Pattern Complexity In Callistoctopus Furvus, Emily Lekas

Callistoctopus furvus is an understudied, nocturnal octopus that inhabits shallow, subtropical waters in the western Atlantic. This species relies on camouflage to blend in to diverse environments to escape predators. To understand the relationship between substrate and skin patterning in this species, we used second-by-second analysis of video data recorded in the field. We compared frequencies of four substrate types (sand, rock, algae, and seagrass) ranked by contrast across ten skin patterns displayed by C. furvus. Chi-squared analyses showed significant results that the four substrates were unevenly represented in every skin pattern. However, the data did not support our hypothesis …

Research has found that when we first look at someone, we make impressions about how they are as a person, which can lead to negative real-world consequences. However, this research mainly looks at young and/or white faces, leaving those with multiple marginalized identities out. This is especially concerning for older Black women since they are at risk of facing racism, sexism, and ageism. Even when looking at stereotyping research, nothing looks at all three factors combined, meaning there is no clear answer to what older Black women are experiencing. Healing On Their Own Terms: Self-Guided Attuning And Mental Health Among Chinese “Youth”, Ziran (Ted) Zhou

This thesis explores how Chinese “youth” experiencing emotional distress pursue healing outside formal psychiatric frameworks. Drawing on thirteen qualitative interviews and guided by theories from medical anthropology, this study examines how young people engage Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practices and everyday bodily adjustments to manage suffering. Rather than rejecting care altogether, participants turned toward culturally resonant practices that emphasized gradual self-attuning (自我调节, zìwǒ tiáojié) to internal rhythms. Healing was framed not as rupture or diagnosis, but as a relational and moral process: one that preserved emotional dignity, protected family honor, and maintained social harmony. Glucose is a fundamental energy source for cellular function, and its regulation is critical for maintaining metabolic stability in the human body. Glucose homeostasis is governed by a network of biochemical processes involving multiple organ systems that coordinate glucose production, storage, and uptake. Disruptions in this regulation contribute to metabolic disorders such as diabetes mellitus, underscoring the need for mathematical models that provide a mechanistic understanding of systemic glucose dynamics. Herein, we report a multi-time scale discrete-time dynamical systems model using compartmental difference equations to describe glucose concentrations across key physiological compartments. Evaluating Factors Of Coach Compensation In Ncaa Division I Fbs College Football, Ethan Vest

This paper investigates the determinants of college football coach compensation, specifically examining whether individual coach characteristics or institutional characteristics play a greater role in compensation. Using six fixed effects regression models, I compare model performance using R-Squared, Adjusted R-Squared, Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC), Akaike Information Criterion (AIC), and subset F-tests. The results indicate that the school at which a coach is employed has a larger impact on compensation than individual identity. Further, lagged win percentage is found to be a significant variable on compensation, indicating that coaches negotiate their contracts in the off-season based on their performance in the previous …

The purpose of this study was to investigate the associations between “direct” and “indirect” types of Community-Based Learning (CBL) and undergraduate students’ sense of purpose. Undergraduate students (N= 146), who completed a full CBL course in the Fall 2024, were recruited to complete this survey. The Claremont Purpose Scale (CPS) was used to measure students’ sense of purpose; there were three subscales within this scale measuring the three dimensions of sense of purpose (Goal Orientation, Personal Meaningfulness, Beyond-the-Self). Can Neutron Star Mergers Alone Reproduce R-Process Enrichment In Ultra-Faint Dwarf Halos?, Christine Gyure

Neutron star mergers (NSMs) are the only confirmed source of the r-process responsible for heavy element formation. However, there are concerns about the extent to which NSMs can enrich small dwarf galaxies arising from either a strong natal kick velocity or substantial merger time. We present the results of a novel analytic model investigating the impact of these two distributions, represented respectively by a Maxwellian and power law, and their accompanying parameters on chemical enrichment in ultra-faint dwarf halos. We find that our model reproduces the observed enrichment fractions in these small dwarf galaxies for a variety of parameter combinations, …

Les banlieues françaises, situées à la périphérie des grandes villes, sont souvent perçues comme des espaces de marginalisation sociale et économique. Dès les années 1980 et 1990, les banlieues deviennent un sujet central du discours médiatique et politique, notamment en raison des tensions liées à l’immigration, aux inégalités socio-économiques et aux violences urbaines. Pendant cette période, la représentation des banlieues dans le cinéma français reflète ces tensions en les caractérisant comme des lieux de violence, d’exclusion, et d'hypermasculinité. This quantitative study explored whether involvement in adolescent romantic relationships among Black females influenced juvenile delinquency and later criminal behavior. While prior research has examined how peers, family, and romantic partners impact delinquency and substance use, the unique intersection of being both Black and female in this context remains underexplored. The study used data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health (Add Health), which follows U.S. adolescents from middle and high school into adulthood (ages 24–32). The dataset included variables related to peer and family relationships, romantic and sexual involvement, substance use, victimization, delinquency, and criminal behavior. …

LGBTQ+ people (i.e., individuals from gender or sexual minorities) are at a heightened risk for mental health issues and often face barriers in receiving quality mental healthcare. The use of cultural humility practices by therapists has been correlated with improved therapeutic relationships and therapy outcomes. Practicing cultural humility involves engaging in critical self-evaluation, lifelong learning, and having an other-oriented stance. The present study examined 54 LGBTQ+ people’s perceptions of their therapists’ cultural humility and their positive and negative identity-related experiences in therapy. Higher education institutions (HEIs) face increasing competition, not only from peer institutions but also from technology companies and software developers. The traditional educational model in HEIs is losing its appeal in comparison to more targeted and embellished learning offered by specialized outlets. This study proposes an innovative educational model aiming to help higher education avoid obsolescence. The proposed model, dubbed Business Education 4.0, treats content as building blocks that can be used to build personally tailored courses. The model guides students through creating their modularized custom courses, delivers course materials, analyzes student performance, offers students continuous support, and gathers feedback. …

Using the 5-year period (2014-18) limit-order book and trade book data from NSE, this paper investigates the contribution of an open limit-order book towards price discovery and market efficiency. In particular, the paper examines two interesting questions: (a) the information content of the limit-order book beyond the best prices and (b) the order submission choices of informed traders. The results indicate that the deeper levels of the order book significantly contribute to short-term return predictability, even after controlling for the return autocorrelations, volume, and trade imbalances. This study examined the time-varying relationship of the USA’s clean energy stock market under the financial stress scenarios. We have employed the empirical mode decomposition-wavelet windowed cross-correlation technique to gauge interconnectivity. The degree to which financial institutions form expectations of policy intervention despite their own risk appetites lies at the heart of macrofinancial regulations such as the Dodd-Frank and Consumer Protection Acts. The effectiveness of these policies hinge on the assumption that large banks are the only banks that are too-big-to-fail (TBTF). However, alternative perspectives posit that banks may be too-complex-to-fail, regardless of their size. To remedy competing TBTF definitions, we propose a new criterion to identify potential TBTF banks by their relative involvement in so-called critical markets, considerate of both bank size and complexity. This study examines how a firm’s religious culture affects the structure of CEO compensation. I consider two characteristics of religious cultures that are likely to have implications on executive compensation structure – the sensitivity of economic agents to financial rewards (extrinsic motivation) and the extent to which agents’ actions can affect future outcomes (locus of control). I hypothesize that religious cultures’ attitudes toward both characteristics will lead to less use of performance-based compensation in religious cultures and show evidence consistent with the hypothesis. The dynamic interplay between real firms and the financial markets remains under continuous government scrutiny, reflecting the evolving diversity that accompanies the expansion of financial markets. Given the financial market's critical role in capital provision, it is essential to understand how different funding relationships influence firm performance. This study focuses on A-share listed companies in China from 2013 to 2023, categorizing their funding relationships into two distinct types: net investment and net financing. This study aims to investigate the supply chain discussion during the COVID-19 pandemic using the supply chain tweets collected between March 2020 and May 2022 globally. The findings reveal an evolving sentiment trajectory: while the users’ sentiment remained neutral in 2020 and 2021, a negative sentiment surged starting in January 2022. Moreover, an emotion analysis indicates a mix of sadness and optimism among Twitter users, with anger gradually intensifying from June 2021 onward. This study examines the dynamic connectedness between four music tokens, that is, Audius, CEEK, ROCKI and Viberate and major asset classes, namely, equity, bond, crude oil, Gold, Bitcoin and USD. We used daily data from December 23, 2020, to August 30, 2024. We measure the connectedness using the quantile VAR method and the wavelet quantile correlation approach. The quantile VAR method reveals that assets play receiver and transmitter roles. However, the assets hold a weak relationship, indicating the opportunity for portfolio diversification.
