Sustainability Leadership In Schools: A Success Case Method, Sohail M. Sukhera, Christopher R. Gordon, William L. Sterrett May 2025

Sustainability Leadership In Schools: A Success Case Method, Sohail M. Sukhera, Christopher R. Gordon, William L. Sterrett

Journal of Organizational & Educational Leadership

Environmental unpredictability has become a crisis for the 21st century. In response, organizations from the local to international level are addressing the issues by creating, supporting, and promoting initiatives. Schools and school leaders play an important role in this work. An example of a multi-scaled initiative is the U.S. Department of Education’s Green Ribbon Schools (ED-GRS) which recognizes local academic institutions, upon state recommendation, that have implemented three pillars of sustainability: (a) reduce environmental impacts and costs; (b) improve the health and wellness of schools, students, and staff; and (c) provide effective environmental and sustainability education. This evaluation analyzed ED-GRS …

The Ecology Of Practices: Perspectives Of Female Principals Leading Rural Schools In Zimbabwe, Precious Guramatunhu Mudiwa

Journal of Organizational & Educational Leadership

This study aimed to explore the lived experiences of five female principals leading rural schools in Zimbabwe. Using a qualitative approach through face-to-face interviews and employing the ecology of practices framework (Stengers, 2005) to address environmental challenges in rural schools, the findings illustrate the multidimensional challenges faced by female school leaders in rural settings, that include infrastructural deficiencies, chronic academic underperformance, poor teacher working conditions, absenteeism, funding shortages, and gender bias. Despite these difficulties, principals demonstrated resilience through strategic leadership, community collaboration, and faith-based coping mechanisms. These insights contribute to a broader understanding of the intersection of gender and educational …

Perceptions Of Principal Leadership, Teacher Leadership, Student Discipline, And Teacher Retention Based On Evaas Growth Status And School Performance Grade In Low-Performing Elementary Schools In North Carolina, Shayla Savage, Sijia Zhang

Journal of Organizational & Educational Leadership

This quantitative study investigated whether teachers’ perceptions on principal leadership, teacher leadership, student discipline, and teacher retention exhibited significant differences based on two school conditions: school growth status and school performance grade in low-performing elementary schools across North Carolina. The study analyzed responses from 11,018 certified teachers across 293 qualified schools. A 2x2 factorial MANOVA revealed statistically significant differences in teacher leadership and teacher retention related to school performance grade and its interaction with the school growth status. However, no significant differences were found regarding the principal leadership and student discipline domains. Findings highlighted the importance of supporting teacher leadership …

Whiplash, Jillian M. Canady May 2025

Whiplash, Jillian M. Canady

Persimmon Creek

Whiplash is an abstract poem that emphasizes emotion and imagery over narrative clarity. Through the juxtaposition of a moth and a neon sign, it delves into themes of struggle and transience, blending surreal elements—sickly slouching figures, flickering candles, and woven snakes—to create a landscape of sorrow and light. With fragmented language and rhythmic shifts, the poem invites deep engagement and personal interpretation, culminating in a sensation of rapid motion and transformation, challenging readers to find meaning within its evocative chaos.

The Democratization Of Coaching And Development Through Peer Coaching In Groups, Richard E. Boyatzis May 2025

The Democratization Of Coaching And Development Through Peer Coaching In Groups, Richard E. Boyatzis

Engaged Management ReView

People want and need development at work and in life. The cost of typical development activities limits access to those in powerful or higher status positions. In addition, the efficacy of training programs in organizations and higher education as developmental activities have shown relatively poor results in terms of sustained, desired change. The effects of coaching seem more promising, but it is highly labor intensive and therefore costly. Peer coaching in groups (PCGs) offers a potentially efficacious developmental activity at no or very low cost to organizations or individuals. PCGs can be used throughout the world and invite participation regardless …

Girls Are Coming Out Of The Woods (Title Taken From Tishani Doshi), Jillian Canady

Persimmon Creek

This evocative haiku, inspired by Tishani Doshi’s poem, Girls Are Coming Out of the Woods, beautifully captures the essence of resilience and emergence. It portrays women as powerful forces, symbolized by roaring fires and vibrant sunsets, evoking warmth and intensity. The detail of "pink painted toes" adds a playful yet bold touch, blending femininity with strength. This concise piece invites readers to reflect on the dynamic spirit of women stepping into their own, embodying both elegance and fierce determination.

Women Deacons In The Catholic Church: Servants To The Servant, Elizabeth A. Screnock May 2025

Women Deacons In The Catholic Church: Servants To The Servant, Elizabeth A. Screnock

Master of Theological Studies Honors Theses

Even as recently as this past fall at the 16th Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops, the question of women serving as deacons in the Catholic Church is being internationally studied and discussed. This thesis repudiates arguments against women deacons and provides historical and Biblical evidence that support the argument to include women in the diaconate. A theology of the Holy Spirit is examined, presenting a way to perceive of the Sacrament of Holy Orders by including the Virgin Mary. It concludes that women discerning the “call” to be “servants to the Servant” should be ordained deacons. …

A Multi-Modal Intervention To Improve Identification, Management, And Prevention Of Recurrent Urinary Tract Infections In The Urgent Care Clinic, Stephanie Krol

Evidence-Based Practice Project Reports

Nearly 60% of women will suffer from a urinary tract infection (UTI) in their lifetime, with 20- 40% of them suffering from multiple (Anger et al., 2022). The primary purpose of this evidence-based project was to implement a multi-modal intervention to improve identification of women who suffer from recurrent urinary tract infections (rUTIs) and to assist in the prevention and treatment of future UTIs. Additionally, the project aimed to increase the number of referrals to urology for better management of these patients. This project was implemented at an Urgent Care Clinic (UCC) in northwest Indiana. Eligible participants who presented with …

Beyond The Ivy League: Stopping The Spread Of Antisemitism On American Campuses: Hearing Before The H. Comm. On Educ. & The Workforce, 119th Cong., May 7, 2025 (Statement Of David D. Cole), David Cole

Testimony Before Congress

In this testimony, submitted to the House Committee on Education and the Workforce for a hearing on antisemitism on campus, I sought to offer a legal framework for considering antisemitic speech on campus. The testimony cautions against equating criticism of Israel with antisemitism. But more importantly, it notes that even where speech is actually antisemitic, it is generally protected by the First Amendment (and therefore also protected by private university policies that protect free speech on campus). Title VI of the Civil Rights Act does not prohibit antisemitic speech, even virulently antisemitic speech. It prohibits discrimination on the basis of …

Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery Posters

Abstract

- There are four common treatment modalities for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA)

  • CPAP, MAD, UAS, MMA

- Retrospective data was examined to compare efficacies between these treatments for patients treated with one of these four OSA therapies.

  • Primary outcome: Mean disease alleviation (MDA) - calculated value based on improvement of AHI adjusted by compliance.
  • Secondary outcomes: Patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) - ESS, PRAQ, SAQLI

- It was found that the greatest mean disease alleviation was found in patients who underwent MMA. PROMs showed the most significant improvement in daytime sleepiness (ESS) for MMA.

Final Project Report: Custom Rocket Motor, Simeon Gantt, Austin Parcell, Saif Saleh, Kailey Tubbs

Engineering Senior Design Reports

This report outlines the design, fabrication, testing, and evaluation of a custom composite-propellant rocket motor developed by the Custom Rocket Motor Team. The primary goal of this design project was to overcome the limitations of off-the-shelf rocket motors by creating a system capable of delivering tailored impulse and burn profiles within a highly constrained geometry. Specifically, the team targeted a motor with a 3.125-inch diameter and a total impulse between 3,000 and 5,120 N-s, aligning with Tripoli High-Power Rocketry Level 2 requirements while allowing for improved control over rocket altitude.

The final design successfully met or exceeded all core objectives. …

An Examination Of Impact Of Immigrant Entrepreneur Cultural Intelligence On Performance During Crisis, Arpita Joardar, Sibin Wu May 2025

An Examination Of Impact Of Immigrant Entrepreneur Cultural Intelligence On Performance During Crisis, Arpita Joardar, Sibin Wu

Management Faculty Publications

This paper integrates research from cross-cultural management and entrepreneurship to examine the interactive effects of cultural intelligence (CQ) and individual entrepreneurial orientation (IEO) on performance during times of crisis such as the Covid-19 pandemic. We argue that the various dimensions of CQ will have differential effects on performance due to the unusual circumstance. The findings indicate that contrary to expectation, knowledge CQ has negative effect on performance. However, as predicted, skills CQ was found to have positive effect on performance while meta-cognition CQ has a significant negative effect on the same during crisis. Additionally, there was evidence of significant interaction …

The Impact Of Legacy-Building On Older Adults' Well-Being In End-Of-Life Care., Samantha Sanchez-Garcia May 2025

The Impact Of Legacy-Building On Older Adults' Well-Being In End-Of-Life Care., Samantha Sanchez-Garcia

2025 Symposium

Many terminally ill patients, specifically older adults often struggle with feelings of existential crisis. As they approach the end of life, their focus frequently shifts from asking, “What is the meaning of my life now?” to “What impact will my life have after I’m gone?” (Timoteo et al., 2024). In response, this poster explores how integrating legacy-building activities into end-of-life care can enhance individuals’ well-being while emphasizing the importance of offering these activities as a standard care option, given the limited awareness of their effectiveness. For instance, Hesse et al. (2019) found that legacy interventions improve psychological well-being by fostering …
