This paper examines the evolution of thinking in the World Bank on development land reform in Zimbabwe. It argues that the evolving and broader definitions of land reform in Zimbabwe must consider the conditions necessary for the attainment of economic development that encompasses sustainable development, poverty alleviation, capacity building, gender equality, good governance and now conflict prevention and resolution. The paper explores an economic model of political power derived from Mancur Olson's work relating power and prosperity in both transition and developing economies. The study focuses on the community perception of tourism on the local environment in the Nairobi National Park in Kenya. It highlights not only the importance of tourism in the process of economic development, but also the environmental impacts of tourism on the surrounding communities in the Nairobi National Park. Kenya. Structured interviews were used to obtain local communities' perception of Masaai and Nairobi Communities. In order to complement the interview, an in-depth interview was employed by interviewing local experts from the communities, voluntary organization, non-governmental organization, and the ministry of tourism. The article makes a case that environmental policy in Ghana, and indeed in Africa, is often formulated with the role of men in economic activities in mind. Such policy often ignores the vital role that women play in their economic activities undertaken by women have serious ramifications for the ecosystem. Therefore daily contact, use, and management of the environment. As such, various, the article places women in the center of environmental policy. It argues that the important role women play in African society, particularly their direct contact with environment through farming, should be taken into account when formulating environmental policy.

This paper examines environmental issues in Nigeria. It argues that there is the need for public commitment to effective management of environmental policies in Nigeria. The paper provided a management framework that could be used by the Nigerian government for the effective implementation of their environmental policies. The underlying rationale is that any goal-oriented environmental policy must have management at its core. It is argued that regardless of their levels of sophistication, environmental policies are unlikely to be successful without a corresponding management infrastructure. This study utilizes a feminist perspective in demonstrating how gender intersects with socioeconomic forces of over a century of patriarchal environmental endeavors such as global modernization: imperialism and colonialism as conditions that have historically perpetuated environmental degradation in Zimbabwe as elsewhere in sub-Saharan Africa. The study examines how environmental policies of both pre and post independent Zimbabwe have had devastating consequences on the poor and marginalized, particularly women and girl children of this Third World in the nation. This article examines the levels of security/insecurity-related issues in Africa within the context of political and economic liberalization policies. It is argued that the interactive effects of internal and external systemic developments that characterize globalization processes have had serious "security" implications for governance in Africa. The indicators of insecurity and immiseration imply that Africa needs to reevaluate its approach to development in relation to the combined effects of national and international imperatives.

This paper attempts to provide a succinct background to the origins of the conflict in Western Sahara, a former Spanish colony, between the Kingdom of Morocco and nationalists of the territory. It identifies the broad regional and international ramifications of the continuing conflict, which began in 1975, and describes efforts made by the Organization of African Unity [OAU] and the United Nations to resolve the conflict. Since the end of the Cold War, the nature of conflict has changed. A disturbing trend that has emerged with that change is warlords/rebel movements, resources, and greed. Today most conflicts are not driven by "loud discourse of grievance" but by the "silent voice of greed." This paper examines the civil war in the Congo since the late 1990s through regional and national lenses. It contends that Congo's problems are not unique; instead, they reflect a larger phenomenon of the lack of synergy between geography and politics in the Great Lakes region. The stabilization of power in geographical spaces is the puzzle of building institutions not just in the Congo, but also among its equally weak neighbors.

Lynch syndrome is an autosomal dominant disorder affecting one of the mismatch repair (MMR) genes. Amsterdam and revised Bethesda criteria are used to identify individuals at risk for Lynch syndrome, but they have limited sensitivity. The CRC Risk assessment tool is effective in identifying high-risk individuals and mutation carriers of Lynch syndrome. A 28-year-old male with a past medical history of alcohol abuse had new-onset seizures suspected to be caused by alcohol use. Twelve days after starting levetiracetam for seizure prophylaxis, he began to develop a pruritic rash, darkening of his urine, periods of jaundice, and hot flashes that correlated with the timing of his levetiracetam dosing. He was subsequently found to have lymphocyte-predominant leukocytosis, elevated aminotransferases, and alkaline phosphatase. Following discontinuation of his levetiracetam, he was found to have positive Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) serology suggestive of reactivation. Congenital uterine anomalies are malformations that occur during female fetal development. The maturation of the paramesonephric ducts (mullerian ducts) is responsible for the formation of the uterus and other reproductive organs. It is within this developmental process that mullerian anomalies occur. Abnormalities of the uterus can be classified as arcuate, septate, bicornuate, unicornuate, and uterine didelphys. Commonly, patients with mullerian anomalies are asymptomatic, however those that are symptomatic often present with fertility difficulties. Neighborhood change (NC) can be understood as a social determinant of health with direct psychosocial and economic impacts. Our objective was to define resident groups’ perceptions of NC and self-rated mental health in a community experiencing an intense form of NC known as gentrification. We conducted a cross-sectional study using random and convenience sampling. Our measures included a combination of scales and indexes that were used for conducting bivariate and cluster analyses. Gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma is a rapidly progressive disease that has a poor prognosis with a 5-year survival rate of 20%. It commonly presents with major symptoms of dysphagia and weight loss in addition to a long-standing history of reflux. As of now, screening for esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC) is dependent on identifying risk factors which include a family history of Barrett’s esophagus and esophageal adenocarcinoma or patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease and at least one other risk factory for EAC such as age greater than 50 years, obesity or central adiposity, history of smoking, or male gender.
