Natural And Artificial Drying Effects On Condensed Tannins Of Sericea Lespedeza, T H. University Of Georgia, W R. Windham, J J. Evans, C S. Hoveland
Natural And Artificial Drying Effects On Condensed Tannins Of Sericea Lespedeza, T H. University Of Georgia, W R. Windham, J J. Evans, C S. Hoveland
IGC Proceedings (1977-2023)
Sericea lespedeza [Lespedeza cuneata (Dumont-Cours.) G. Don.] is well adapted to acid soils and low fertility but has generally been considered a low-quality forage due to high levels of tannin and indigestible fiber. Tannin levels increase during midsummer (Windham et al. 1988). The most commonly used assay for tannin in sericea is the vanillin-HCl procedure (Burns, 1963) on oven-dried samples. Oven-drying has been reported to cause increased polymerization or oxidative changes in tannins (Goldstein and Swain, 1963). Fresh-frozen sericea contained higher amounts of extractable tannin than field-dried forage and fiber digestibility of high-tannin sericea by sheep was much lower …

Room 1: Digital Accessibility And Oers: How, Why, And When, Stewart C. Baker
Open Educational Resources Symposium
This short talk will cover the basics of digital accessibility and why it's essential to creating effective OERs. Digital accessibility is the practice of designing digital content that can be used by people with disabilities. But it shouldn't just be an afterthought or an "if I have time!" By building accessibility into your creation process from the start, you can make your OER much more effective and easier to use for as many people as possible—including those without disabilities at all. By the end of this session, you will be able to describe core digital accessibility principles, articulate how they …
Evaluating The Effectiveness Of The M-Rompis Scale In Preventing Pressure Injuries In Intubated Icu Patients: A Clinical Intervention Study, Dympna O'Carroll, Susan Resnick
Evaluating The Effectiveness Of The M-Rompis Scale In Preventing Pressure Injuries In Intubated Icu Patients: A Clinical Intervention Study, Dympna O'Carroll, Susan Resnick
Group: Samford University Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing
Medical device-related pressure injuries (MDRPIs) occur in up to 34% of patients, with oral pressure injuries affecting as many as 45% of ICU patients. The modified Reaper Oral Mucosa Pressure Injury Scale (m-ROMPIS) offers a standardized approach to improve early detection and management...
The successful pilot led to the development of a Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG) and plans for broader adoption of the m-ROMPIS tool through stakeholder engagement, leadership collaboration, and workflow optimization.

The Journal of Advancing Education Practice
This qualitative study explores the persistent challenges facing graduate students in contemporary higher education, where attrition rates remain at approximately fifty percent. Through analysis of graduate student narratives and existing literature, this research identifies key barriers to degree completion including financial constraints, mental health challenges, online learning isolation, work-life balance issues, and academic preparation gaps. The study presents findings from direct student perspectives and offers institutional recommendations for improving graduate student retention and success.

Design Of Real-Flight-Path Tracking Control Of Quadrotor, Moataz Aly Sabry
Design Of Real-Flight-Path Tracking Control Of Quadrotor, Moataz Aly Sabry
Thesis/ Dissertation Defenses
This thesis presents the design and development of an advanced real-time flight path tracking control system for a quadrotor, specifically aimed at accurately following a moving ground object such as a rover. The primary focus is on addressing challenges associated with precise tracking in dynamic and unpredictable environments, including real-time communication between the drone and the rover, rapid response to environmental changes, and maintaining control of the quadrotor’s altitude, yaw, pitch, and roll.
To achieve these objectives, the study explores the application of mathematical models based on ordinary differential equations, incorporating delay elements to simulate the real-time behaviour of the …

Journal of Science Education for Students with Disabilities
JSESD remains a venue for the dissemination of research and practice related to the education of students with disabilities in the science classroom and laboratory since 1998. Volumes #1 through 11 were published in a print format. Starting with Volume #12, the journal has been published online and Open Access. Having JSESD in the Open Access format maximizes access for readers and authors and allows the journal to remain economically sustainable.

Mental Health Awareness: Identify, Understand, Respond, Anita Boutwell
Mental Health Awareness: Identify, Understand, Respond, Anita Boutwell
Group: Samford University Moffett & Sanders School of Nursing
Mental health awareness in community colleges is emerging as a critical concern with the increase in depression and anxiety among the students they serve. Rural colleges often serve a diverse population, many of whom have socioeconomic challenges, including financial instability and family responsibility. Within the State of Alabama, approximately 24.3% of young adults receiving Medicaid were diagnosed with depression and 61.8% did not receive any mental health care in 2020 (State of Alabama Public Health, 2022). In addition, Alabama’s suicide rate among young adults is ranked 13% above the national rate (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2024)
Investigating Teachers’ Perspectives On The Practices Of Public-School Inspections In The United Arab Emirates, Ruqaia Adel Haidara
Investigating Teachers’ Perspectives On The Practices Of Public-School Inspections In The United Arab Emirates, Ruqaia Adel Haidara
Thesis/ Dissertation Defenses
This research paper investigates public school teachers’ perceptions of the effectiveness of school inspections in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Additionally, it examines the impact of teachers’ demographic factors on these perceptions. Data were collected using an online, structured, five-point Likert-scale survey distributed via email to teachers in UAE public schools by the Emirates Schools Establishment (ESE). A total of 218 teachers across the UAE participated in this study. The research focused on four key domains within the School Inspection Perception Framework (SIPF): Perceived Effectiveness of School Inspections (PESI), Perceived Effectiveness of School Inspection Training (PESIT), Perceived Credibility of School …

Retracted: Data Envelopment Analysis Using Stochastic Frontier Analysis And Bootstrap Confidence Intervals, Fahad F. Alqahtani
Iraqi Journal for Computer Science and Mathematics
Evaluating company growth potential has moved away from traditional financial focused ratios and ratios analysis that has origins in the early twentieth-century economics. However, these conventional methods might not be accurate in measuring such efficient factors as this combined proposed framework of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and improved mathematical models do. The present research focuses on the prospect of growth of companies through evaluating the performance of 40 DMUs in terms of efficiency DEA and MMTs. DEA is used to determine the efficient DMUs while SFA underline the factors such as investment on research and development, effective marketing strategies and …

A Hybrid Technique For Approximating The Solution Of Fractional Order Partial Integro-Differential Equations, Ahmed K. Mohsin, Fajir A. Abdulkhaleq, Osama H. Mohammed
Iraqi Journal for Computer Science and Mathematics
In this paper, we discuss the numerical solution of fractional order partial integro-differential equations. The type of fractional derivative used is a Caputo derivative. The method proposed in this paper known as transform optimal perturbation iteration method. This method combines the optimal perturbation iteration method and the Laplace transform in order to converge to the exact solution. The proposed method is highly efficient and provides the means of controlling the approximate solutions convergence. Illustrative examples prove that the suggested approach is very accurate when compared with the exact solution and the results of the existing methods.
