This paper explores Hollywood's role and its impacts on public health, primarily driven by its portrayal of healthcare services, illnesses, and related beliefs and provides recommendations to improve “education entertainment” for the future. Methods PubMed was searched using keywords such as hollywood, healthcare, medical dramas, health education, smoking, suicide, and many more. Polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMNs) are critical mediators in the innate immune response, and their levels in ascitic fluid are pivotal for diagnosing spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP), particularly in patients with liver cirrhosis. This retrospective study investigates the association between varying PMN counts in ascitic fluid and hospital outcomes, including mortality, 30-day readmission rates, and length of stay (LOS). We analyzed de-identified data from HCA Healthcare hospitals (July 2013 - December 2023), focusing on patients aged 18 and older with a diagnosis of liver cirrhosis who underwent paracentesis. Background:

Mantle Cell Lymphoma (MCL) is a rare and aggressive subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. This study explores the demographic and clinicopathologic characteristics of 746 MCL patients diagnosed in the United States between 2000 and 2015, focusing on the interaction between age and tumor stage.

Methods:

Using SEER database data, this retrospective cohort study analyzes demographic and clinical variables like age, gender, stage, treatment, and marital status. Mortality risks were assessed using Cox proportional hazard regression models to identify predictors of overall mortality (OM) and cancer-specific mortality (CSM), emphasizing age-tumor stage interactions.

Caste—a graded structure of hierarchy—has historically shaped identities in South Asia and persists to this day. In opposition, Dalits (caste-marginalized communities) have utilized diverse mediums to communicate their resistance. In this thesis, I analyze the role of music in Bengali Dalit resistance through the work of Dalit singer-songwriter Smritikana Howlader (b. 1960). Based on ethnographic research, I investigate how folk music becomes a mode of Dalit historiography. In particular, I explore how Howlader aims to transcend caste boundaries through song, evoking shared humanity. I argue that Howlader’s performances combat dominant caste discourse and Dalit erasure, furthering Bengali Dalit resistance.

Phonation contrasts have proven difficult for linguists to accurately and adequately categorize cross-linguistically. While particular acoustic features may robustly distinguish one phonation type from another in a given language, no known acoustic features robustly distinguish all phonation types in all known languages with phonemic phonation-type contrasts. This study presents an exploration of possible resolutions to the challenge of classifying phonation types in a cross-linguistically consistent manner. A novel adaptation of the ExSTraCS learning classifier system demonstrates some similarities between Black Miao modal voice and Yi lax voice. Drought stress induces changes in physiology, including decreases in water potential, stomatal closure, pigment degradation, and leaf senescence (Jongdee et al., 2002, Munné-Bosch & Alegre, 2004, Heitholt et al., 1991). Sociolinguistic research on Japanese regional dialects has generally found that regional dialects are assimilating to Standard Japanese, but that recently an increase in the popularity of dialects has led to reverse trends of “de-standardization” as well. This paper aims to utilize quantitative and qualitative analysis of a corpus of Osaka dialect interviews in order to observe how usage of the dialect differs across generations. The quantitative results find that some dialect features are falling out of use among younger generations, while others stay consistent, and some features are actually used more by younger speakers than middle-aged generations. Academic librarians do not engage with all disciplinary departments equally. Despite equal or even greater efforts, some departments are less responsive to librarian outreach. One such department is mathematics. To understand mathematics departments’ relationships with their academic librarians, three mathematics librarians created a 20-question survey that was disseminated to mathematics faculty, instructors, and instructional staff in the United States and Canada. Of the 188 survey participants, more than a third reported that they never engage with their librarians, approximately half only do so occasionally, and a mere eight percent of participants collaborated with librarians to provide information literacy instruction (IL) …

Roughly 30% of autistic individuals are nonspeaking, meaning they do not (or very minimally) communicate with speech. Many nonspeaking individuals have the ability to communicate with others by using augmentative and alternative communication, such as speech-generating devices or communication boards. The purpose of this study was to examine the attitudes of speaking individuals toward nonspeaking autistic people through a survey measuring attitudes and stigma toward nonspeaking people, autistic people, and disabled people, respectively. Prey species adjust their behavior along human-use gradients by balancing risks from predators and humans. During hunting seasons, prey often exhibit strong antipredator responses to humans but may develop tolerance in suburban areas to exploit human-mediated resources. Additionally, areas with high human activity may offer reduced predation risk if apex predators avoid such locations. This study examined mule deer Odocoileus hemionus behavioral responses to risks from humans and their primary predators, cougars Puma concolor, contextualized by differences in risk levels between study sites, individual risk exposure, and human habituation.
