Clinical Education In Undergraduate Nursing In Ghana: A Gap Analysis, Kafui A. Hobenu, Anthonio O. Adefuye, Florence Naab, Champion N. Nyoni

Background: Nursing education comprises theory and practice as two complementary parts. In Ghana, the clinical education space is inundated with many challenges, disrupting the intended purpose of clinical education. The multifactorial challenges include student issues, nurse and educator concerns, management and resource issues. To find solutions, there is a need for a critical analysis of the current clinical educational practices to inform the development of feasible and sustainable approaches for nursing education. This article, therefore, reports on a gap analysis of clinical education in Ghana.

This study employs the Bubble Image Velocimetry (BIV) technique to characterise the flow velocity of individual extreme waves that overtop sea dikes. Physical experiments were conducted in the small-scale wave flume at the Marine Engineering Laboratory (LIM) of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya –BarcelonaTech (UPC). The objective of the experimental campaign was to develop methods to enhance predictive models for wave overtopping volumes of structures with emergent toes. Focused wave groups were used to simulate extreme individual wave overtopping under realistic random sea states. This work presents an algorithm based on the Nondominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II (NSGA-II) to solve multi-objective offline Multi-Robot Coverage Path Planning (MCPP) problems. The proposed algorithm embeds a donation-mutation operator and a multiple-parent crossover that gener-ates solutions which maintain the longest path while minimizing the average path length. The algorithm also uses a library of elitism-selected high-fitness robot paths, and tournament-selected high min-max fitness paths, to construct high multi-objective fitness offspring. We evaluate the performance of our proposed algorithm against the state-of-the-art NSGA-II extended with an improved Heuristic Genetic Algorithm Crossover, and we demonstrate that for different instances of …

Introduction Excessive nitrate accumulation in leafy vegetables poses health risks and indicates inefficient nitrogen use in conventional agriculture. While nitrogen metabolism has been extensively studied, the molecular mechanisms linking nutrient deprivation to nitrate reduction in vegetables remain unclear. Methods In this study, we investigated these mechanisms in lettuce (Lactuca sativa var. ramosa Hort.) by analyzing nitrate content and gene expression in leaves and roots under nutrient deprivation. Results After five days of treatment, nitrate content decreased by 57.49% in leaves and 50.77% in roots. Transcriptome sequencing identified 323 and 3,494 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in leaves and roots, respectively, with …

Proposed herein are techniques that enable the propagation of an event from a passive optical networking (PON) segment to an Ethernet segment through the use of a link level protocol (e.g., Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP)). During operation for a PON deployment, when a PON Media Access Control (MAC) layer component takes over a PON link as a new active link, an event can be sent to the far end provider edge (PE) of the Ethernet overlay circuit to enable a path switch from an earlier active path to the protect path. The technology described in this paper relates to error checking for multiplier circuits using modulo operation outputs. For any base greater than 2, the modulo of the base subtracted by 1 can indicate if a multiplication result of the multiplier circuit is wrong. This allows for detecting errors in logic where data is modified, such as multiplier circuits in hardware accelerators.

Modeling of the human body is widely utilized in the field of human–robot interaction, warranting the development of a simple model to measure and recognize the human body movements. To this end, a two-dimensional (2D) human body link model in the sagittal plane has been used to represent the human body with rotating joints and links connecting these joints.
