Background: Plozasiran, an investigational siRNA targeting hepatic apoC-III, reduces triglyceride-rich lipoproteins (TRLs). The impact of plozasiran on lipoprotein particle numbers and sizes is unknown. However, reductions in the number of TRL particles (TRL-P) and a shift to possibly less atherogenic large low-density lipoprotein particles (LDL-P) are expected.

Objectives: This study aimed to determine the impact of plozasiran on lipoprotein particle concentration and subclass distribution using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) in 2 phase 2 studies.

Methods: Patients (N = 403) from SHASTA-2 (severe hypertriglyceridemia) and MUIR (mixed hyperlipidemia) were administered 2 total subcutaneous doses of plozasiran (10, 25, or 50 mg) …

An attestation verification service (AVS) enables remote attestation of hardware-based trusted execution environments. However, today the confidential-computing industry lacks AVS that is independent, trusted, cross-technology, and cross-cloud. This hampers the adoption of and trust in confidential computing services. This disclosure describes techniques that leverage a certificate authority (CA) to provide independent and technology/cloud-agnostic attestation verification service (AVS). Modern low-power system-on-chip (SoC) designs reduce power consumption by using multiple asynchronous clocks that can run different chip blocks at their optimal DVFS (dynamic voltage frequency scaling) points. However, this causes significant increases in instances of data paths crossing asynchronous clock domains. At such crossover points, synchronizer is used in the design to address metastability issues. Typically, the synchronizer cells comprise two or three stages of flip-flops, but such synchronizer cells are implemented as single-bit standard cells. This paper examines and identifies conflicts of second-generation Chinese Americans, focusing on the interplay of cultural values, gender roles, and societal stereotypes. Through an interview with Connor Chan, a 23-year-old Chinese American, the study illuminates the tension between traditional Chinese patriarchy and evolving American norms. Intergenerational conflicts arising from differing acculturation experiences are explored, highlighting the emotional strain of navigating two distinct cultural landscapes.

Nicotine influences dopamine (DA) release in the nucleus accumbens, a brain region associated with reward processing and addiction. This study examined nicotine’s effects on DA signaling using fast-scan cyclic voltammetry (FSCV) in anesthetized rats. Electrodes were implanted to stimulate DA release in the medial forebrain bundle and record signals in the ventral striatum. After administering saline or nicotine, DA levels were monitored in real-time, and electrode placement was later verified through histological analysis. Saline-treated rats showed minor DA fluctuations, with a peak signal detected at 50 minutes, while technical difficulties prevented complete nicotine data collection. INTRODUCTION: Empathy can be defined as the ability to recognize, understand, and match one’s emotional state to that of another. Previous research has suggested that emotional contagion produces empathetic responses among familiar rats when their cage mate is exposed to a stressor. This study seeks to further explore this relationship and compare responses among familiar vs. unfamiliar rats. METHODS: Male and female Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into cohorts including an observer, demonstrator, and stranger rat. By focusing on the social, emotional, and economic challenges faced by Mexican immigrants due to their legal status, this paper examines how deportation policies disproportionately affect their lives. Drawing from my own family's experience, I reflect on my mother's journey as an immigrant and how her experiences shed light on the broader struggles of many in the community.

Here is a country that celebrates its aspirations to greatness—economic success, food security, accountable governance, territorial integrity, internal security, and improved living standards—sabotaging its young and vibrant population. A pseudo-welfarist democracy, Nigeria's young vibrant 'human capital'—the potentially productive portion of its population—must contend with gross insufficiencies, maladministration, corruption, and intimidation in state-owned and administered facilities.
