Linear Systems Over Pura Vida Neutrosophic Algebra, Rayyanu Abdullahi Muhammad, Abdulhadi Aminu
Linear Systems Over Pura Vida Neutrosophic Algebra, Rayyanu Abdullahi Muhammad, Abdulhadi Aminu
Neutrosophic Systems with Applications
Neutrosophic numbers offers a strong foundation for representing uncertainty, indeterminacy, and imprecision within mathematical systems. Pura Vida Neutrosophic Algebra (PVNA) expands upon max-plus algebra (also known as tropical algebra or path algebra) using neutrosophic numbers. In this study, we propose a novel extension of the Pura Vida Neutrosophic Algebra (PVNA) by formulating and analyzing linear systems within this algebraic context–an area that, to the best of our knowledge, has not been previously examined. Specifically, we introduce the concept of Neutrosophic Max-Plus Linear Systems, develop an algebraic methodology for their representation, and establish the necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence …

Evaluating Disaster Relief In Supply Chains Using A Neutrosophic Mcdm Approach, Nada A. Nabeeh
Neutrosophic Systems with Applications
Disaster-prone regions and affected areas encounter persistent challenges in maintaining supply chain continuity due to environmental uncertainties and infrastructure disruptions. Effective supply chain disaster management (SCDM) is essential for relief disaster disruptions, specifically in upstream processes and functions within the humanitarian supply chain. The integration of advanced technologies like the metaverse and Multiple-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) methods supports strategic planning and enhances resilience. This study presents a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) proposed approach for disaster relief evaluation in supply chain management. The proposed model integrates Interval-Valued Neutrosophic Numbers (IVNNs) to manage uncertainty and ambiguity inherent in disaster various criteria which are often …

How “Green” Are Green Acquisitions Really?, Sri V Srinivasan
How “Green” Are Green Acquisitions Really?, Sri V Srinivasan
Dissertations and Theses Collection (Open Access)
Our study finds that 43.14% of global green mergers & acquisitions (GMAs) from 2001 to 2020 may be susceptible to Green Embellishment—the gap between corporate environmental representations and actual performance, regardless of intent. Using a multi-criteria theoretical framework, we show that financial constraints strongly drive Green Embellishment in GMAs, with regulatory stringency and national culture moderating this effect. GMAs in weak regulatory environments are especially vulnerable, particularly under high stakeholder pressure. We further provide empirical evidence that financially constrained GMAs with lower green profiles and those in “browner” industries exhibit a higher propensity for Green Embellishment. Even in stringent …

Exploring How The High Or Low Of Firm Transparency And Speed Of Adjustment In Its Capital Structure Relates To The Implied Cost Of Capital Of A Firm, Yung Chee Leong
Dissertations and Theses Collection (Open Access)
This dissertation tackles a core challenge in corporate finance — how firms can optimise both their capital structure decisions and the way those decisions are communicated to investors. It shows that while financial responsiveness (SOA) and transparency each help lower a firm’s implied cost of capital (ICC), the most meaningful reduction occurs when both are present and working together. For CFOs, the research offers a practical way to connect capital structure planning with communication strategy to improve market understanding and reduce financing costs. For investors and analysts, it introduces the idea of a transparency–SOA alignment measure to better assess firm …

Interactive Generative Modeling: A Pathway For Improved Simulation And Decision Making, Changyu Chen
Interactive Generative Modeling: A Pathway For Improved Simulation And Decision Making, Changyu Chen
Dissertations and Theses Collection (Open Access)
This dissertation presents Interactive Generative Modeling (IGM), a unified perspective that integrates interactive paradigm and generative modeling to advance the development of general-purpose intelligent systems. IGM is motivated by the observation that while reinforcement learning (RL) has mastered a wide range of complex simulated tasks, it struggles to generalize in high-dimensional, open-ended tasks. In contrast, generative models excel in such settings due to their expressivity and their ability to serve as powerful priors (e.g., LLMs pretrained on massive corpora). By bridging these two paradigms, IGM offers a promising path forward.
The first direction explored in this dissertation is IGM for …
Essays On Empirical Asset Pricing, Ruxue Gong
Essays On Empirical Asset Pricing, Ruxue Gong
Dissertations and Theses Collection (Open Access)
The dissertation consists of three chapters on behavioral finance, arbitrage activities, cryptocurrencies and ETFs. The first chapter examines the existence and trading behavior of triangular arbitrageurs in cryptocurrency markets. Using a novel account-level orderbook dataset from an Indian cryptocurrency exchange, we document persistent price deviations between USD- and INRquoted token pairs, and use the triangular arbitrage opportunities to identify arbitrageurs and noise traders. Our results show that arbitrageurs significantly outperform noise traders on their holding-based returns, after adjusting for market returns and trading fees. However, arbitrageurs are not immune to behavioral biases when making trading decisions. Using a composite behavioral …

Resilience In Stem: How Gender-Professional Identity Integration (G-Pii) And Self-Compassion Empower Women To Thrive, Isabelle Chiew
Dissertations and Theses Collection (Open Access)
Fostering resilience is crucial for the retention of women in male-dominated fields such as STEM. This paper investigates the interplay between gender-professional identity integration (G-PII), resilience, and self-compassion through two complementary studies. It is hypothesised that G-PII positively predicts resilience, with higher levels of integration associated with greater resilience. Furthermore, self-compassion is expected to moderate this relationship. Study 1 employs a cross sectional survey design to explore the relationships between G-PII, self-compassion, and resilience, while Study 2 uses an experimental design to assess the causal impact of G-PII on resilience. Study 1 found that G-PII was significantly and positively associated …
Learning And Optimization Under Human-Centric Considerations, Qian Shao
Learning And Optimization Under Human-Centric Considerations, Qian Shao
Dissertations and Theses Collection (Open Access)
This dissertation investigates learning and optimization problems shaped by humancentric considerations, such as preferences, demonstrations, behavioral patterns, and resource constraints. As real-world decision-making increasingly involves interaction with human agents, data, and limitations, modeling these factors becomes critical for building practical, adaptive, and robust systems.
The research spans four domains. First, we study preference-aware delivery routing by learning implicit practitioner preferences and incorporating them into a hierarchical route optimization framework. Second, we develop imitation learning methods for cost-constrained settings, enabling agents to mimic expert behavior while respecting safety and resource limitations. Third,we explore early rumor detection in data-limited environments, integrating large …

A Model Of Managerial Coach Learning And Development, Udayan Dhar
A Model Of Managerial Coach Learning And Development, Udayan Dhar
Faculty Journal Articles
Managerial Coaching has emerged as a compelling new approach to leadership in organizations. While research has so far demonstrated the key behaviors and competencies associated with successful managerial coaching, comparatively fewer studies have examined how managerial coaching can be developed in leaders, or how leaders learn managerial coaching behaviors. After reviewing the existing literature on managerial coach training and development, and drawing upon research from the fields of leadership development and active learning, a three-phase model of managerial coach learning and development is proposed. The model suggests that the development of managerial coaches can be understood as a process of …
