A Clinical Practice Guideline For Enhanced Rehabilitation Assessment In Poststroke Patients, Chanda Honeywood
A Clinical Practice Guideline For Enhanced Rehabilitation Assessment In Poststroke Patients, Chanda Honeywood
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
This doctoral project aimed to develop clinical practice guidelines (CPG) to strengthen the assessment of poststroke patients for rehabilitation. The project sought to adopt an evidence-based approach to develop standardized recommendations that can help in the timely and appropriate rehabilitation of stroke survivors, thereby reducing the risk of long-term disability and readmissions. Stroke is a significant cause of disability and poor functional recovery, increased healthcare costs, and lower quality of life for patients occur because of poor rehabilitation assessment. While rehabilitation protocols already exist, discrepancies in patient evaluations result in intervention delays and ineffective uptake of rehabilitation programs, limiting the …

The purpose of this interview with Dr. Emilio Zamora, Professor Emeritus History at the University of Texas – Austin, is to learn about his family life along the US-Mexico border where he was born and was raised throughout a portion of his youth across the Río Grande in El Horcón and Rio Rico. The CHAPS Program at UTRGV is interested in researching El Horcón, a tract of land along the US-Mexico border (near today’s Mecedes, Texas) that originally belonged to the United States but was intentionally cut off by the American Rio Grande Land Irrigation Company in 1906 when they …
Political Ecologies Of The Livestock Industry, Jecca Bowen
Political Ecologies Of The Livestock Industry, Jecca Bowen
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
In the United States today, livestock production is dominated by an intensified, industrialized production paradigm whose growth in recent decades has utterly transformed the logistical realities and community impacts of animal agriculture. This dissertation investigates the effects of this production paradigm on livestock producers—whose decision-making is shaped by multi-scalar and often contradictory forces—as well as residents living near these large operations. To do so, I draw upon mixed-methods fieldwork, including in-depth interviews, spatial analysis, and field odor measurements in Weld and Morgan Counties in northern Colorado. I also use political ecologies of emotion, embodiment, and health to examine the complex …
Advancing The Functional Diversity Of Hydrazone Photoswithces, Daniil Sosnin
Advancing The Functional Diversity Of Hydrazone Photoswithces, Daniil Sosnin
Dartmouth College Ph.D Dissertations
Photochromic materials have drawn increasing interest for their ability to control functional systems and biological processes using light. Molecular switches enable precise, reversible regulation of the systems in which they are embedded. To achieve robust and versatile switching, careful tuning of molecular structure and activation conditions is essential. Hydrazones represent a promising class of photoswitches, offering synthetic accessibility, strong thermal and photochemical stability, and a modular framework that supports further development for materials and biological applications. This work begins by examining a family of heterocyclic hydrazones to determine how structural variations affect photoswitching efficiency and thermal half-lives. Comparisons with phenyl-based …

Review: The Impact Of Insurance Policy On Glp-1 Agonist Treatment, Sunsik Chang
Harrisburg University Dissertations and Theses
This study examines how healthcare system design influences access, adherence, and financial burden associated with glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) in high-income countries. Through a literature review of peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2025, it compares outcomes across universal and multi-payer systems. Findings reveal significant disparities. For example, the 12-month persistence reaches 68% in centralized systems like Denmark, but falls to 32–46% in the U.S., largely due to financial burdens, insurance denials, and administrative barriers. Among uninsured U.S. patients, 45% report significant financial hardship while using GLP-1 RA therapy. However, only 20% of patients enrolled in high-deductible health …
On Simple Competition Policy, Keith N. Hylton
On Simple Competition Policy, Keith N. Hylton
Faculty Scholarship
These remarks address the topic of “simple competition policy for a complex world”.[1] There is much to be said in favor of simplicity in legal rules. Complex legal rules are often difficult for the individuals who must comply with the rules to understand what they mean. Complex rules are often confusing, and take a long time to understand, when in the real business world decisions must be made quickly – at the pace at which business occurs. Businessmen do not have the luxury that academics possess to read, discuss, and think about rules for long periods of time. Markets …
The Positivity Effect In Contracts, Megan Kathryn Stricker
The Positivity Effect In Contracts, Megan Kathryn Stricker
College of Science and Health Theses and Dissertations
The positivity effect is a noted preference for positive information over negative information in older adults’ cognition. This effect has been observed in multiple domains of cognition, including both attention and memory (Carstensen & Mikels, 2005). Evidence for the positivity effect has shown up consistently in replications across type of memory (Reed et al., 2014), and this phenomenon can be considered within the context of other trends of cognitive aging. Most if not all research in this area has been constrained to laboratory settings, and there has been limited research as to the context sensitivity of this observed effect. What …

Wyoming has recognized this opportunity, and has attempted decrease the barriers of entry for oil and gas operators to invest in field-level CO2 EOR …
Object-Based Image Analysis And Artificial Intelligence Identification Of Anthropogenic Disturbance On Lesser Prairie Chicken Habitat In Cheyenne County, Colorado, Tara Hoelzer
Geography and the Environment: Graduate Student Capstones
Renewable energy projects often require extensive landcover for their operations. When one of these projects encroaches into territory of threatened species, such as Lesser Prairie Chickens, an analysis of habitat suitability and human disturbance is required to proceed. Traditionally, this involved manually reviewing aerial imagery within a 6-mile radius, digitizing features, and interpreting them using a human technician—an approach that was time-consuming and prone to human error. By using pretrained AI models within Model Builder™, the identification of roads and structures was automated, making the process faster and more consistent than manual visual analysis. As AI and technology continue to …

Enhancing Neuronal Viability: The Protective Role Of 10% Human Cerebrospinal Fluid In Primary Neuronal Cultures, Vineet Arora, Alicia Bernhardt, Alessandro Naopli, Mijail Serruya
Farber Institute for Neuroscience Faculty Papers
Human cerebrospinal fluid (hCSF) is a physiologically rich medium containing neurotrophic factors, signaling molecules, and essential metabolites that support neuronal development, survival, and function. While its neuroprotective properties have been demonstrated in organotypic brain slices and human iPSC-derived models, its application in primary rodent cortical neuron cultures-a foundational system for studying synaptic development and neurodegeneration-remains underexplored. In this study, we systematically evaluated the effects of hCSF supplementation on neuronal viability in primary cortical cultures derived from embryonic day 18 (E18) rat embryos. To determine the optimal concentration, we tested a range of media:hCSF ratios and identified 90:10 (i.e., 10% hCSF) …
