Some estimates claim the existence of 50 million victims of human trafficking and the U.S. Department of State suggests that less than 1% of survivors received services to prevent further exploitation. This presentation shares processes for co-creating knowledge with case management tools that empower survivors while gathering data to improve their care, assist service providers in effectively targeting supportive services, and strengthen anti-trafficking initiatives. Findings will be shared from Freedom Lifemap, a self-assessment used by human trafficking survivors to identity their own strengths, needs, and priorities to prevent the risk of re-exploitation and attain lasting freedom. This paper presents a comparative study of two recommendation system approaches for predicting movie ratings: Matrix Factorization with Stochastic Gradient Descent (SGD) optimization and Neural Collaborative Filtering (NCF) using Tensor Flow. The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of these methods in recommending movies to users based on the MovieLens 100K dataset. The Matrix Factorization approach utilizes latent features to model user preferences and item characteristics, optimizing parameters through SGD. On the other hand, NCF integrates traditional collaborative filtering with neural networks to capture complex user-item interactions. This study investigated the impact of high temperatures on dental tissues during the polymerization of optical fillings using a diode laser and two types of pulsed and continuous LED devices. Three distinct light source units were employed: a laser diode, an LEDition, and a LED.B. Temperature increases were measured at a distance of 1 mm from the thermocouple to the tip of the device. To create an experimental model, we fixed the operational voltage of the polymerization device and maintained a 1 mm gap between the terminal and the thermocouple wire. The Characterization and Radiometric Calibration for Remote Sensing Annual Meeting (CALCON)

This practical workshop will focus on integrating spheres and other methods and maintaining NIST traceability through the calibration process. The workshop starts with a lecture on a basic framework to maintain integrity of radiometric and spectral signals and fundamentals of instrument characterization which is based the new IEEE 4001 standard. Hands-on sessions provide an opportunity to learn about characterizing and efficiently providing calibration measurements for successful campaign results.

Digital map providers enable entities such as businesses to add or edit their information. However, many businesses may not include their information in the digital map. This disclosure describes techniques that leverage a large language model (LLM) to improve text extraction from storefront images (e.g., taken from the street) and specifically, to extract business attributes from such images. Operating independently or supporting other text extraction procedures, the LLM is applied to verify text extracted from images. The described techniques can improve precision-recall in text-extraction problems.

Responsibilization refers to the process by which patients are made accountable for their health and wellbeing, which is determined by their habits and behaviors. Though responsibilization affords greater agency to patients, it can also result in anxiety and guilt when the patient appears "deviant" or "noncompliant." Because sexual behavior is attributed to the causality of HIV/AIDS, patients’ sexual patterns and choices are included within their medical decision-making. This rhetorical analysis focuses on pharmaceutical campaigns and commercials for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), which were released between 2012 and 2024 and are targeted towards patients at-risk for HIV/AIDS. On May 18, 1980, the Kwangju Uprising took place in Kwangju, a city in the Chŏlla province of South Korea. Though it was initially a student demonstration against Chun Doo Hwan’s martial law, it grew to involve thousands of Kwangju civilians who united to fight against vicious paratroopers and Chun’s unjust rule. After nine days, state troops recaptured Kwangju and arrested the remaining demonstrators. Years later, as a response to popular demand, the South Korean government compensated victims and began celebrating May 18 as a turning point for democracy in the nation. This gesture-controlled reminder device aims to support individuals with special needs in their daily routines, in the hope of them being more independent. The system we designed integrates a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W, PAJ7620U2 gesture sensor, and audio playback components, all housed in a custom 3D-printed case. This study examined multilingual families’ experiences in a family-school early literacy program during the critical period of brain development, the Phlournoy Babies Initiative (PBI). Participants included five multilingual (ML) and immigrant families who have participated in this program for multiple years. In addition, this study probed how families were applying the strategies shared during PBI sessions within the context of their culture and home environment. Sociocultural, ecological systems, and culturally responsive teaching theories formed the framework of this study. The purpose of this qualitative research study was to gain a better understanding of the experiences, inspiration, motivations, and varying aspects of what it is to be a first- generation master’s level student. Throughout the 2024-2025 academic year, I conducted interviews with three first-generation undergraduate students, three first-generation graduate students, and two first-generation postgraduate professionals at a single university to understand how their higher education experiences were similar and different. Modern large language models (LLMs) increase the speed of software development but frequently hallucinate code, forcing developers to debug and rewrite generated code manually. This project introduces Documentation-Aware Code Generation, a retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) framework that injects authoritative documentation into the LLM prompt to reduce hallucinations in generated code. We build an ingestion pipeline that scrapes, cleans, chunks, and embeds official API documentation into a Pinecone vector database, then design a retrieval and re-ranking pipeline that retrieves the most relevant snippets for each user query. Results show that augmenting prompts with documentation lowers code hallucination by up to 60%. The …

Parents of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) demonstrate resilience and resourcefulness in managing the demands of caregiving. This study highlights the critical role of family based support as a social determinant of health-protective factor (SDHPF) that enhances the well-being of parents, helping to mitigate depressive symptoms. Using a secondary dataset of 199 parents/ caregivers of children with ASD, this study examines how family based support, child symptom severity, and financial resources (income) influence parental mental health. The findings show that strong family support is positively associated with lower levels of depression, underscoring the strength of social networks in enhancing …
