Local impedance variations in structural waveguides partially reflect and absorb incidentflexural waves, motivating wave-based strategies for passive vibration control. This studydevelops and experimentally validates a wave-energy framework to quantify and optimizeflexural wave absorption by Kelvin–Voigt attachments on a finite Timoshenko beam.A finite element model is validated against Scanning Laser Doppler Vibrometry measurementsfrom a clamped–clamped aluminum beam with a passive damper mounted nearone end, with dashpot parameters identified through two independent approaches andthe discrepancies attributed to parameter uncertainty. Wave decomposition of the simulatedand measured velocity fields yields the power reflection coefficient ρ(ω) and powerabsorption coefficient α(ω) over the 0–15.3 kHz band. …

Early literacy instruction in the U.S. often centers monolingual, English-dominant practices that marginalize multilingual learners and their families. This qualitative design-based research study examines a family literacy initiative that engaged caregivers and teachers as co-designers of a multilingual, multimodal literacy resource bag. Using the MultiSemiotic Architecture Framework, we analyzed qualitative data to explore how collaborative text selection can advance linguistic justice in early childhood education. Findings highlight five themes that shaped intentional text selection and supported multilingual home literacy practices: content, language, cultural relevance, curricular alignment, and collaborative modifications. METHODS: Patients were identified from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results-Medicare files who received abiraterone acetate with prednisone or enzalutamide between January 1, 2013, and December 31, 2020. The Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (ADLM) aims to improve health by providing education to laboratory scientists worldwide. Different regions of the world face unique challenges shaped by their national and regional contexts. However, the needs of clinical laboratories worldwide remain largely understudied. To address this gap, we conducted a comprehensive needs assessment survey among laboratory professionals in the Latin American region. The survey was distributed to over 2708 individuals across Latin American countries and yielded 148 responses. As AI coding agents become embedded in software development workflows, developers are beginning to operationalize ethical principles by encoding behavioral rules into repository-level context files for AI agents, such as AGENTS.md files. Rather than examining the ethics of AI agents in the abstract, this vision paper investigates how ethics and values are already being translated for AI agents into actionable instructions that shape agent behavior. Through a preliminary investigation, we find that developers are already embedding guidance related to fairness, accessibility, sustainability, tone, and privacy. Background: Acromegaly is a rare multisystem disorder caused by excess growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), typically from a pituitary somatotroph adenoma. Neurological complications, particularly peripheral neuropathies, are common but under-investigated.Objectives: To evaluate peripheral nerve involvement in Iraqi patients with acromegaly and assess the impact of IGF-1 levels, disease duration, adenoma size, and other clinical variables on nerve function.Methods: A cross-sectional study included 41 acromegalic patients (≥25 years) who underwent detailed neurophysiological testing. Patients were classified as metabolically controlled or uncontrolled based on IGF-1 levels.Results: IGF-1 and GH levels were significantly lower in the controlled group (p<0.001), while other clinical variables showed no significant differences. Neurophysiological findings revealed significantly reduced sensory and motor amplitudes, prolonged latencies, and slower conduction velocities in the uncontrolled group. IGF-1 levels correlated positively with sensory and motor latencies and negatively with conduction velocities and CMAP amplitudes. Larger adenoma size and presence of diabetes were also associated with worse nerve parameters. Deep X-ray therapy and surgical excision showed beneficial associations with median nerve conduction velocity.Conclusion: Peripheral nerve dysfunction, including carpal tunnel syndrome and polyneuropathy, is more severe in metabolically uncontrolled acromegaly. Macroadenomas and poor biochemical control are linked with worse neurophysiological outcomes.

Accurate forecasting of near-surface atmospheric air pollutants such as PM2.5, NO2, SO2, CO, and O3 remains a critical scientific and societal challenge. This difficulty arises from several factors, including nonlinear pollutant dynamics, sparse ground monitoring net works, heterogeneous satellite observations, and strong cross-pollutant interdependencies. Substantial advances have been achieved in temporal deep learning, probabilistic modeling, satellite-based estimation, physics-informed methods, and foundation models. However, these paradigms have largely evolved in isolation. As a result, existing systems are often station-dependent or pollutant-specific and optimized for a single forecasting task. This limits their robustness and generalizability across regions and heterogeneous data regimes.

Despite growing evidence on the impact of intra-tumoral heterogeneity (ITH) in breast cancer (BC), its biological drivers and clinically relevant mitigation strategies remain poorly characterized, particularly in low-resource settings where spatial profiling is rarely applied. To address this gap, we conducted a comprehensive, multiplatform spatial profiling study of BC in a Kenyan population. Using the NanoString GeoMx™ Digital Spatial Profiler, we quantified 44 protein markers across 707 spatially defined, PanCK-segmented Areas of Illumination (AOIs) from 31 tumors.
