Analysis Of U.S. Think Tanks' Cognition Towards China-U.S. Competition In Quantum Science And Technology, Xiaoyu Li, Lei Gu, Haohan Meng

[Purpose/significance] Analyzing the perceptions of mainstream U.S. think tanks towards the China-U.S. competition in quantum science and technology contributes to examining their thinking frameworks and strategic judgments, providing strategic insights for China to effectively respond to U.S. containment and blockade in this field.

[Method/process] By selecting 13 research reports from 8 mainstream U.S. think tanks and utilizing the literature analysis method, this study systematically reviews the multidimensional perceptions of U.S. think tanks on the China-U.S. competition in quantum science and technology, thus revealing the underlying logic behind their perceptions.

[Purpose/significance] Starting from the related concepts of disciplinary topic evolution, this study comprehensively examines the forms and methods of disciplinary topic evolution. It identifies problems with existing concepts and shortcomings in current methods, and suggests directions for improvement, providing a reference for future research in this area.

[Method/process] Using a systematic review method, the literature on disciplinary topic evolution from the CNKI and Web of Science, as well as other academic platforms, was analyzed. To examine invertebrate community recovery after the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill, we monitored the recovery of macroinfauna in replicated reference, moderately and heavily oiled salt marshes in Barataria Bay Louisiana for 8.5 years after the spill. Plants suffered near 100% mortality in heavily oiled marshes, profoundly altering the sedimentary environment. Plants in moderately oiled marshes did not suffer extensive mortality but experienced reduced above- and belowground plant biomass. A community analysis based on 40 macroinfaunal taxa was conducted during early (2011–2012), middle (2013–2017), and late (2017–2018) stages of recovery. The merger origin long GRB 211211A was a class (re-)defining event. A precursor was identified with a s separation from the main burst, as well as a claimed candidate quasi-periodic oscillation (QPO) with a frequency Hz. Here, we explore the implications of the precursor, assuming the quasi-periodicity is real. The precursor variability time-scale requires relativistic motion with a Lorentz factor, and implies an engine-driven jetted outflow. The declining amplitude of the consecutive pulses requires an episodic engine with an 'on/off' cycle consistent with the QPO. We report on the first ab initio informed α knock-out reaction in the intermediate-mass region, with the aim to probe the underlying chiral potential and its impact on the emergence of alpha clustering in this mass region. The theoretical predictions of the α+¹⁶O clustering in the ²⁰Ne ground state, based on the ab initio symmetry-adapted no-core shell model with continuum, yield a triple differential cross section for ²⁰Ne(p, pα)¹⁶O that is in a remarkable agreement with the data. This allows us to examine predictions of surface and in-medium α-cluster features that emerge from the …

Excited structures in ¹⁰⁴Mo were populated by β decays of the ground and isomeric states in the neutron-rich nucleus ¹⁰⁴Nb. The beams were produced by the CARIBU facility at Argonne National Laboratory, re-accelerated by the ATLAS accelerator and implanted on a moving-tape system in the middle of the GAMMASPHERE array. Separate decay schemes for the two β-decaying states in ¹⁰⁴Nb were constructed for the first time. The structure of the isomers are discussed in the framework of the deformed Nilsson model and systematics of known quasiparticle structures in neighboring nuclei.

Relativistic jets around supermassive black holes are well-known powerful γ-ray emitters. In the absence of the jets in radio-quiet active galactic nuclei, how the supermassive black holes work in γ-ray bands is still unknown despite great observational efforts in the past three decades. Here, considering the previous efforts, we carefully select an active galactic nucleus sample composed of 37 nearby Seyfert galaxies with ultrahard X-rays for γ-ray detection by excluding all potential contamination in this band. Adopting a stacking technique, we report the significant γ-ray detection (test statistic 30.6, or 5.2σ) from the sample using 15-year Fermi-LAT observations. We find …

Located at 28 Cambridge Street in Boston, the African Masonic Hall served as the meeting place for the African Grand Lodge of Massachusetts and the African Humane Society. The former, the nation’s first black masonic lodge, was founded in 1775 to foster black unity, advocate for abolition, and fight colonization efforts through masonic fraternal tradition. Similarly, the African Humane Society, also called the African Society, was founded in 1796 and used similar fraternal practices to provide medical and funeral expenses for its members. Personal bankruptcy is a pertinent topic to discuss due to the surge in personal bankruptcy cases around the world and it is an important indicator of household financial problems nationally. However, only few comprehensive reviews have been conducted to date. Hence, this study provides a bibliometric review of 210 studies on personal bankruptcy authored by 496 scholars. Bibliographical data were extracted from the Scopus database and analyzed it using the Bibliometrix-R software. Based on the citation analysis metrics, we revealed the most influential articles, journals, authors, and institutions. A method of purification for UF₄ utilizing NH₄HF₂ was investigated to remove oxygen and hydrate impurities from the salt. The original salt exhibited a melting point at 915–920 °C, which corresponds to the eutectic temperature of the UF4-UO2 system, showing clear signs of oxygen contamination. To purify the salt, an air-tight reaction vessel inside an argon glovebox was used to react UF4/NH4HF2 mixtures at elevated temperatures under a continuous flow of inert gas. Since 1957, the near-Earth population of trackable space objects has grown in number to over 36,000. Of these 36,000+ trackable objects now in low Earth orbit, just a few thousand are working spacecraft. The rest are Earth-orbiting objects which are no longer operational and are considered to be space junk. Because this junk can no longer receive maneuvering commands from its Earth-based owners, the survivability of other spacecraft traveling through or operating in Earth orbit can be jeopardized by the impacts of any number of pieces of this space junk, whose origins can usually be traced back to defunct satellites. …
