This dissertation will explore how test anxiety (TA) affects working memory (WM) and whether certain factors can help predict higher levels of test anxiety. Anxiety has been defined as a common experience that can show up in various forms—like general worry, social fears, panic attacks, and specific phobias (APA, 2022). It was described as often triggering our natural “fight-or-flight” response, which can impact our ability to focus, think clearly, and remember things. Clinical and translational science needs to address roadblocks to the translational processes. We conducted a survey at two institutions, a private medical school and a large public university, to understand the frequency and distribution of barriers and roadblocks to research. We reviewed the literature to compile a pool of barriers and roadblocks and convened a panel of relevant stakeholders to develop a 20-item questionnaire. Survey respondents were asked to select and prioritize the five leading clinical and translational roadblocks, provide information regarding their academic degrees and rank/position, complete open-ended items regarding their areas of research, and optionally add additional remarks …

Although many genes are subject to local regulation, recent evidence suggests that complex distal regulation may be more important in mediating phenotypic variability. To assess the role of distal gene regulation in complex traits, we combine multi-tissue transcriptomes with physiological outcomes to model diet-induced obesity and metabolic disease in a population of Diversity Outbred mice. Using a novel high-dimensional mediation analysis, we identify a composite transcriptome signature that summarizes genetic effects on gene expression and explains 30% of the variation across all metabolic traits. The signature is heritable, interpretable in biological terms, and predicts obesity status from gene expression in …

This paper discusses the challenges and opportunities of educational technologists (ETs) during emergency remote teaching (ERT) in a non-pharmaceutical intervention (NPI), due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The study was guided by Albert Bandura’s social cognitive theory and self-efficacy framework. The study highlights the positive and negative reflections of self-efficacy for ETs during the transitions to different strategies in classroom teaching. It acknowledges the positive and negative effects on ETs from self-regulation, observational learning, and reciprocal determinism. The 2024 EMT and Paramedic License Renewal Survey provides a comprehensive analysis of workforce trends, employment characteristics, recruitment challenges, retention patterns, and the mental health and wellness of emergency medical personnel in Florida. Conducted by the Florida Center for Emergency Medical Services (FL-CEMS) in collaboration with the Bureau of Emergency Medical Oversight (BEMO) at the Florida Department of Health (DoH), this survey captures insights from thousands of EMTs and paramedics renewing their professional licenses.

Key findings indicate persistent challenges in workforce retention, particularly for early-career professionals, and a notable decline in satisfaction with compensation. Despite these concerns, EMS personnel express …

Tedera (Bituminaria bituminosa (L.) C.H. Stirt.) is a Mediterranean drought-tolerant species that shows potential as a forage perennial legume for Mediterranean livestock systems. This three-year study investigated the phenology of the newly developed variety of tedera (Lanza) in response to an annual 24% rainfall reduction and competition compared to alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) in a typical Mediterranean environment of the Iberian Peninsula. Tedera showed early phenology for the reproductive stages from inflorescence emergence to ripening compared to alfalfa, with a long flowering period from early April to mid-May, overlapping with mature fruits. There are many students that struggle with emotional regulation, social skills, and relationship building. Research has shown the importance of having SEL time in student’s daily schedule to meet the needs of these skills. Introduction

Pharmacogenomics (PGx) is an emerging discipline with the potential to revolutionize personalized medicine, but its successful implementation requires interprofessional collaboration. To address this need, a virtual interprofessional education (IPE) session was designed for student pharmacists and medical students to engage in a case-based learning experience.

Objective

The primary objective was to develop and implement an IPE activity focused on a patient case requiring PGx-guided dual antiplatelet therapy and to assess students' perceptions of two Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) Version 3 Core Competencies. A secondary objective was to identify key lessons from the session.

The Utah State University (USU) Extension Farm and Ranch Succession Program has been operating for five years, providing critical support to agricultural producers across Utah. Although its impacts were previously documented (Dallin et al., 2021), the program has since been revised and better adapted to meet the needs of producers. This publication highlights USU Extension’s efforts to address the growing need for farm and ranch succession training and examines the program’s ongoing impacts on agricultural communities throughout the state.

The deposits of critical minerals have been found in metalliferous shales. To aid in critical mineral assessments of the Ordovician Shales in the Kentucky-Tennessee Mineral District (KTMD), this research project produced a map (digital GIS dataset) of the thickness (isopach) of the combined Upper Ordovician shale interval across the region. The subsurface input data are from oil/gas well records and exploratory mineral core. Well and core records for the KTMD were acquired from the state surveys of Tennessee and Kentucky. Power And Resistance: Black Americans' Multifaceted Perceptions Of Ingroup Strengths And Their Effects On Collective Efficacy And Resistance, Hu Young Jeong, Johanna Vollhardt, Michelle S. Twali

Psychology

The current research examines perceived ingroup strengths and their relationship with collective efficacy, generalized power, and resistance among Black Americans. Two studies investigated how different perceptions of ingroup strengths (e.g. collective resilience, ingroup solidarity, intergroup coalitions, ingroup resistance, and intergroup respect) were associated with generalized power perceptions, perceived collective efficacy, and resistance behaviours. Study 1 demonstrated that collective resilience, ingroup solidarity, and intergroup coalitions predicted increased collective efficacy, which in turn predicted organized resistance but not everyday resistance. Perceived control over resources and influence predicted generalized power but not resistance behaviours. Study 2 extended these findings by including perceived ingroup …

An Exploration Of Students' Recollections After An Asynchronous, On-Site Academic Library Tour, Adrienne Warner

Once an integral component to library instruction programs, tours of academic library spaces are less common despite students’ continued need for study spaces with various qualities. This study asks, "What do students remember after taking an asynchronous, on-site academic library tour?" Qualitative analysis finds that, while students value library study spaces, they also report predominantly positive feelings about the library and the tour itself. This research suggests that technical affordances can mitigate some historical drawbacks of tours while offering students a valuable library instruction experience.
