Pulsed power involves accumulating large amounts of electrical energy and releasing it instantaneously. Large pulsed power accelerators use a vacuum insulator stack to facilitate power transfer from the liquid to vacuum section. Limiting the probability of surface flashover in this setting to acceptable levels improves machine longevity and prevents energy loss. Post-shot debris deposition requires a refurbishment process to prevent deterioration of dielectric performance, though the current technique of hand-sanding is long, labor-intensive, and pose serious health hazards. Through the Glass Darkly is an experimental Australian-Indonesian film adaptation of Shakespeare's Macbeth, employing fragmented narratives, hallucinatory imagery, and cross-cultural spiritual frameworks to explore violence, guilt, and moral corruption. The project emerged from a collaboration between Australian and Indonesian film professionals and educators. Drawing on trauma cinema aesthetics and Indonesian mystical traditions (Kebatinan, Rangda masks), the adaptation structures itself around five vignettes: prophecy, murder, hallucination, retribution, and washing. The filmmaker employs a "heuretic" research methodology, prioritizing exploration over interpretation, to create a hybrid cultural text that interrogates Western canonical literature through postcolonial perspectives while navigating censorship through international collaboration.

Chimerism is a rare biological phenomenon in which an individual harbors two or more genetically distinct cell lines, typically resulting from the fusion of two embryos or from twin-to-twin cell transfer in utero. Though often asymptomatic, chimerism can have significant implications for fertility, development, and immunological compatibility. Its true prevalence remains unknown due to frequent underdiagnosis, especially in the absence of phenotypic clues.

Recurrent pregnancy loss, defined as the occurrence of two or more consecutive miscarriages, is often attributed to chromosomal abnormalities, uterine malformations, thrombophilia, or immune dysfunction. Background/Objectives: Individuals with similar hearing sensitivity exhibit varying levels of tolerance to background noise, a trait tied to unique individual characteristics that affect their responsiveness to noise reduction (NR) processing in hearing aids. The present study aimed to capture such individual characteristics by employing electrophysiological measures and subjective noise-tolerance profiles, and both were analyzed in relation to speech-in-noise performance and NR outcomes. In a holdover proceeding where the landlord sought possession claiming the three-family premises was not subject to rent stabilization, the tenant moved for discovery. The tenant asserted a defense of de facto rent stabilization, alleging the building had been subdivided into six or more dwelling units. Applying the Farkas factors, the court found the tenant demonstrated ample need for discovery, as the information was directly related to a colorable defense and within the landlord's exclusive control. The court granted the tenant's motion, ordering the landlord to produce specific documents, and adjourned the case for a compliance conference.

Physical inactivity, poor nutrition, and a lack of understanding of menopause adversely affect mental health and quality of life in women entering menopause. Metabolic changes during this period can lead to an increase in visceral fat, loss of muscle mass, depression, and anxiety. This basic qualitative study explored the perceptions of elementary school administrators regarding the uses of restorative practices (RPs) to address an increase in undesirable behaviors among K–5 students in a northern public school district in Georgia. Guided by restorative justice theory, which emphasizes repairing harm and fostering positive relationships, the study focused on understanding how administrators perceive the effectiveness of RPs in managing student behavior during instructional time. The primary purpose of this study was to determine the influence of selected academic and personal demographic characteristics on student success at a NAACLS-accredited medical laboratory science program in the southern portion of the United States.

Both academic and demographic categories were selected on students who entered the medical laboratory science program from 2014 to 2019 (pre-COVID). The sanitized, archived data set was provided by the MLS department and the registrar and student affairs office at the participating school. Models for hydrated and neat hydrocarbons are developed with the adaptive force matching method using either B3LYP-D3(BJ) or MP2 as reference. Hydrocarbons, being non-polar, present an opportunity to explore the possibility of creating force fields without modeling electrostatics. For liquid methane, ethane, cyclopentane, and cyclohexene, models without partial charges achieved excellent agreement with experiments when fitted against MP2 reference with SAPT dispersion. In aqueous solutions, models without solute partial charges maintain high quality for saturated hydrocarbons but exhibit reduced accuracy for cyclohexene. Notably, liquid methane's weak intermolecular interactions make it particularly sensitive to the choice of reference method. Our findings …

Getting more water to the declining Great Salt Lake (GSL) is difficult. Strategies must address complex water rights, competing water needs, differing stakeholder priorities, historical legacies, lack of trust, and more arid and variable hydrology. Here we used immersive online collaborative modeling to explore water banking strategies to get more water to GSL. This 2-page brief describes the immersive modeling method, a Win-Win outcome, key results, new insights collaborators took from a model session, 2 new strategies to deliver water to GSL, and 3 next steps.

Introduction: High fructose consumption is linked to hypertension and metabolic disorders. We hypothesize fructose (solid and/or liquid) may further influence dietary patterns. To investigate potential effects, we compared eating behaviors, physiological and metabolic measures, and gut microbiome in pregnant rats fed solid or liquid fructose-enhanced (soft drink) diets to those fed standard chow. Inhaled microplastics and nanoplastics (MNPs) have shown bio-persistence in the body, with concerning implications for human health. Airborne MNPs primarily originate from terrestrial sources, but sea air may contribute when onshore 'aerosolising' winds coincide with high concentrations of MNPs in surface waters. From the thousands of cities worldwide with Combined Sewer Overflows, millions to billions of MNPs can be discharged daily into rivers, estuaries, and the sea. To assess the possible links between water pollution and air quality, we analysed two years of Combined Sewer Overflows (spills) off Plymouth, UK, alongside same-day and long-term meteorological and satellite data. Introduction: Warm vertical compaction of gutta-percha is a commonly used obturation technique due to the material’s thermoplastic properties. However, gutta-percha in backfill systems is often heated, cooled, and reheated multiple times before use, potentially altering its physical properties. This study investigated whether repeated heat cycling affects the sealing ability of gutta-percha, as measured by coronal dye leakage. Relapsing fever caused by Borrelia sp. is a neglected disease in Mexico and more studies are needed to update its presence in multiple regions of the country. Here, recombinant proteins glycerophosphodiester phosphodiesterase (GlpQ) and three Borrelia immunogenic protein A (BipA) variants were used for serosurveillance in 142 human serum samples. Results showed that two persons were positive to Borrelia extracts and GlpQ but negative to all three BipA, suggesting they were infected by relapsing fever spirochetes of a yet to be determined species. Childhood cancer survivors (CCSs) are at increased risk for chronic health issues due to late effects of cancer and its treatment. We address the impact of environmental exposures, such as air pollution, tobacco smoke, extreme weather events, and pesticides, on the health and survival of CCSs. These environmental hazards have been associated with worsening health outcomes and decreased survival among CCSs on a global scale. We also highlight that providers at a major pediatric cancer center in the United States have limited knowledge and practical skills about environmental risk factors and how to reduce exposures. Background: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects multiple organs, including the skin and kidneys. The etiology of SLE remains unclear but involves hormonal, environmental, and genetic factors. Environmental factors, such as diet and microbiota-derived metabolites, among which short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) are major players, can influence autoimmune disease pathogenesis.

Objectives: This study investigates the involvement of SCFAs in the pathogenesis of SLE and further investigates the effect of propionate (PA) supplementation on SLE disease outcome in MRL-lpr mice.

Background: Advancements in treatment have increased the life expectancy of patients with Myasthenia Gravis (MG), yet the understanding of functional changes in these individuals remains limited. In our study, we explored the functional abilities of individuals with MG using the World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule 2.0 (WHODAS 2.0).

Methods: This observational study analyzed data from 286 patients with MG, acquired from the Data Bank of Persons with Disabilities (TDPD) in Taiwan between July 11, 2012, and December 31, 2021. Objective: The Houston Conference Guidelines (Hannay et al., 1998) provided an initial framework for North American neuropsychology training that served the specialty well for several decades. Subsequent advances in technology, increased diversity of the U.S. and Canadian populations, and the adoption of competency-based training models within Health Service Psychology have created a need to update neuropsychology training guidelines. Therefore, in 2022, the Minnesota Conference to Update Education and Training Guidelines in Clinical Neuropsychology began a two-year drafting process leading to the currently proposed update.
