Cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) has been implicated in multiple inflammatory diseases by regulating pro-inflammatory mediators or altering immune cell polarization. However, the expression and direct functional role of CB1 in T cells remain largely unexplored. Here, we demonstrate that primary murine T cells express CB1 and that its novel agonist, BI-5756, directly increases the frequencies of regulatory T cells (Tregs) in primary murine pan T cells after activation. In addition, BI-5756 exhibits an in vivo protective effect against graft-versus-host disease (GvHD), an allogeneic T cell-mediated inflammatory complication after allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT), resulting in an improved overall survival with …

Uncontrolled epistaxis in patients with juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma requires prompt intervention. When embolization is required, neovascularization can occur, making expedited surgical resection essential. We conducted a single-institution, retrospective review of one patient. This case study details the patient's clinical presentation and his preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative course. We present the management of a 14-year-old male with a juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma, who 3 days after initial evaluation at our institution, developed uncontrolled epistaxis requiring embolization at an outside hospital before transfer back to our institution for further management. Background/objectives: High-quality prognostic communication in pediatric oncology is essential to support informed decision making, foster trust, and honor goals of care. While families differ in their preferences for how prognosis is discussed, clinicians often rely on assumptions rather than directly eliciting these preferences, risking misalignment and distress. To address this gap, we aimed to characterize patient, parent, and oncologist perspectives on key variables, experiences, and circumstances that influence their preferences for prognostic communication.

BACKGROUND: HIV-1 controllers are a rare population of individuals that exhibit spontaneous control of HIV-1 infection without antiretroviral therapy. Understanding the mechanisms by which HIV-1 controllers maintain and eventually lose this ability would be highly valuable in HIV-1 cure or vaccine research. Previous work revealed the ability of CD8+ T cells isolated from HIV-1 controllers to suppress HIV-1 replication in matched CD4+ T cells and PBMCs ex vivo and suggested the loss of control may be tied to CD8+ T cell exhaustion.

Vanja Louise Yorgason was born on September 22, 1938 in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of R. Milton and Norma Johns Yorgason. Vanja grew up in a musical home. Her father was a violinist, and her mother a pianist and an organist. Vanja and her four brothers learned to “sing four-part hymns in tune unaccompanied.”1 Their parents felt that music was an important part of their children’s education, and made the necessary sacrifices to provide music lessons.

This dataset documents fatalities at low head dams in the United States between 1900 and August 2025. The records were compiled between 2012 and 2025 by research assistants at Brigham Young University under the direction of Dr. Rollin Hotchkiss. Data were incorporated into the database from Dr. Bruce Tschantz, Charlie Walbridge of the American Whitewater Association, public submissions through a “Report an Incident” form, and publicly available sources, including newspaper archives and public records. Originally stored in a MySQL database and later transferred to Google Sheets, the August 2025 version was exported to Excel. The purpose of the dataset is …

Many adolescents report feeling overwhelmed, depressed, anxious, and hopeless in the face of global climate change. These feelings are both valid and antithetical to the necessary hope and courage it takes to address real-world environmental crises and contribute to meaningful societal impact. The Green Teams Program, an internship-based experiential learning initiative, prepares young professionals with skills and knowledge needed to address these challenges and provides an intentionally inclusive and safe environment for students from all backgrounds to do so. Accurate measurement of note-to-note transitions is essential for analyzing articulation in clarinet performance. Traditional methods rely on either subjective amplitude thresholds—such as the time between 5% and 95% RMS levels—or direct measurement of tongue-reed contact time using reed-mounted sensors. These approaches are limited by their dependence on user-defined parameters or invasive hardware. This study proposes a computational alternative: ΔT, a curvature-based metric defined as the time interval between surrounding minima in the second derivative of the mouthpiece pressure envelope. Caring for elderly parents with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) poses two major challenges for adult-child caregivers: the tasks involved in taking care of ailing parents and also potentially living in fear of developing the same disease. This research examined how caregivers with such fear regard their vulnerability to AD and how they manage the stress that comes with caregiving for someone with a disease they dread developing themselves. Human resource managers are concerned with weak social media vetting governance, as it is the number one predictor of reduced organizational capacity to hire candidates. Grounded in Lewin’s Situational Strength Theory, the purpose of this quantitative correlational project was to examine the relationship between social media vetting governance and organizational capacity to hire. The participants were 500 human resource leaders and hiring managers from organizations in the southwestern United States who completed the Job-Related Situational Strength Questionnaire and the Decision to Hire Scale.
